Come Holy Spirit, and fill your Church with gifts of
wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, courage,
reverence and wonder and awe.
From the First Reading: When the time was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. Most of us would like to be better people than we are. We know all too well our short-comings: impatience, low irritation threshold, wariness of people who do not share our opinions or views, not to men-tion the garden-variety selfishness and envy that come with the territory of being human. If you are like me, I try to mod-ify my behavior at significant times with Lenten promises, New Year’s resolutions, and retreat fervor. Most of the time these attempts at modifying peter out sooner than I would like.
What may be missing in all of our good intentions is the aspect of community. We are bouncing & rubbing against people all of the time & these interactions have a profound influence on us. Jesus says where two or three are gath-ered, he will be there. The Spirit blesses group efforts where we are “all in one place together”: families, schools, Walking with Purpose, Bible studies, CYO, Knights of
Columbus, etc.
Pentecost Sunday is my favorite celebration in the Church. The gifts of the Holy Spirit, the apostles being sent out, the effects they had on the community of the young church – all these things give me a sense of purpose, energy, and fo-cus. On this Pentecost Sunday, we will be celebrating the graduation of our 8th grade class. We pray that they will take these gifts – these wonderful gifts received at Baptism and strengthened at Confirmation – these gifts with which they have been blessed – out into the world – into their new high schools – into the teams, clubs, and classes they will be joining. We pray that what they have learned at St. Pat’s – community – caring – service – faithfulness – will change the world – will influence change for the good – will bring them and others closer to Jesus – deeper into the commu-nity of our Catholic Church.
In closing, I am taking a quote from Pope Francis’ homily from last Pentecost Sunday: The world needs men and women who are not closed in on themselves, but filled with the Holy Spirit. The world needs the courage, hope, faith and perseverance of Christ’s followers. The world needs the fruits of the Holy Spirit: “love, joy, peace, patience, kind-ness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Gal 5:22). The gift of the Holy Spirit has been bestowed upon the Church and upon each one of us, so that we may live lives of genuine faith and active charity, that we may sow
the seeds of reconciliation and peace. Strengthened by the
Spirit and His many gifts, may we be able uncompro-
misingly to battle against sin and corruption, devoting
ourselves with patient perseverance to the works of
justice and peace.
Peace to our St. Patrick Parish Community – let us bring Christ out into our world and community. Have a wonderful summer!

Twenty-four Hours with the Lord…. Friday June 16th - Saturday, June 17th
Pope Francis has invited every parish around the world to open
its doors for 24 hours to be with the Lord so that the faithful
might encounter Jesus Christ anew in Eucharistic Adoration.
It is intended to be a time of reflection and prayer and a chance to
rediscover; or perhaps discover for the first time, the great mercy
at the heart of the Catholic Faith.
At St. Patrick Parish we will begin these
24 hours at the 9:00AM Mass on Friday
morning, June 16. The Mass will be
followed by 23 hours of Adoration of the
Blessed Sacrament.
We will pray, in communion with all of the Saints, asking the
Lord, “make our hearts like yours .”
Consecration of our Homes and Families Weekend of June 24-25
Make you home a place where our Lord and His Mother are honored; and peace and
blessings abound.
In honor of the Feasts of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, our
Parish community will be invited to participate in the holy experience of the consecration of our homes and families.
Together we will bless and sanctify images of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary during Mass. Each family will be
invited to enthrone those images in their homes.
Manna Bag Collection!
Manna Bags will be distributed at all the
Masses the weekend of June 17-18 to be
filled and returned the following
weekend, June 24-25.
Suggested canned food items include: beef stew, tuna fish, fruit, vegetables, pasta, soups
and pork & beans.
Thank you for your generous support for people in
emergency situations.
St. Patrick & St. Norbert Parish have begun a
shared Bereavement Ministry
Each member of our community has, at one time in their lives, lost a loved one and grieved. Yet, you are not
alone there are others who struggle through the pain of this loss.
Imitating the example of Jesus who cared for Martha and Mary at the loss of their brother, our communities
seek to share in this ministry of love.
Our next gathering will be on Monday, June 12 at 7 PM at St. Norbert Church, Paoli. For more info.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Is there a non-Catholic you know who has ex-
pressed interest in our faith and becoming a
member of our Church family7 or, perhaps, is a
baptized Catholic who has not completed their Sacraments
of Initiation? If so, you can be an evangelizer by telling them
of our parish’s RCIA process, which offers catechesis and
faith formation in preparation for the Sacraments and initia-
tion into the Catholic Church. Sister Eileen will be happy to
give further information and answer any questions about the
RCIA. You can contact her at 610-296-8899 or

ARE YOU CALLED TO BE A TEACHER OF THE FAITH?
Our Parish Religious Education Program (PREP),
formerly known as C.C.D., provides religious
education and faith formation to our elementary
age parishioners who attend non-Catholic
schools. Our PREP classes provide this educa-
tion to approximately 375 St. Patrick’s parish children. We
are always looking for new catechists and aides, mostly on
Monday and Tuesday afternoons (4:45- 6:00) and Tuesday
evenings (6:30-7:45). We meet from September to early
May. Would you consider joining with us in this very
rewarding parish ministry? Each catechist follows the
Archdiocesan religion curriculum and has a detailed teach-
er’s manual. We provide training and support for new cate-
chists. You do not need to be a professional teacher for
this volunteer position. College students and those consid-
ering a teaching career are welcome.
Please consider being a teacher of the faith this year and
reap the rewards of passing on the faith to a new genera-
