CV SUMMARY (max. 3500 characters, including spaces) The research activity carried out since 1988 has contributed to expanding knowledge in the fields of high-performance computing architectures and their use in applications that contain problems of high computational complexity, through new parallel algorithms based on paradigms such as artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic, and evolutionary computing. The main contributions made so far have been: (a) Proposal and development of procedures for classification, prediction and mono and multi-objective optimization based on neural networks, fuzzy logic, and evolutionary computation, in applications of socio-economic interest such as circuit testing, vehicle routing, optimization of water distribution networks, detection of network intrusions, determination of protein structures, brain-computer interfaces, etc. The IEEE TNN article describing an original multi-target optimization algorithm for RBF networks has received 222 citations (in Google Scholar) and a more recent overview on neural networks published in the Neurocomputing journal has received more than 43 citations (since the end of 2016). (b) Parallelization of classification, prediction and optimization procedures to take advantage of high-performance computing architectures. The PFSGA procedure was one of the first parallel multi-objective optimization algorithms to be proposed (described in two papers with 170 citations). (c) Proposal and development of network interfaces to take advantage of the parallelism of the servers, and reach the bandwidth provided by the links. Among other alternatives, the parallelism offered by multi-core processors and network processors has been taken advantage of, which have also been used to accelerate applications that involve communication such as network intrusion detection.

Además, he
dirigido 9 tesis doctorales. He realizado una estancia
OVERON, Simula Research Lab...
