Support at Home If you are interested in suppor5ng your child at home with his/her Spanish skills,
you can play the songs, chants and poems, that will be sent home with each unit. Also, play the videos, that students seem to enjoy so much. Have fun with your child and learn some Spanish!

Expectations/Goals
This is the second year that MPCSD is launching World Language (Spanish). Being year 2 of implementa5on, we have increased the
expecta5ons/goals for all year 2 students ( 1st & 2nd). Kindergartners, will begin with year 1 of World Language Spanish. The expecta5ons/goals will reflect those of year 1 World Language students.
Addi5onally, an important component of the World Language Standards is for students to gain an
understanding of the Hispanic Culture. I plan to teach culture one to two days a month. The main focus will be to introduce Year 1 WL students to
Hispanic culture. The focus for Year 2 WL students will be to begin to gain a deeper understanding of the culture being studied. Thus, comprehend the
ideas, actudes and values that shape it. By the end of the year all students will increase their knowledge/exposure to Hispanic Cultures.
