Dear Educators:
Welcome to the 2010-2011 Community Engagement and Education Catalog. As you look through this catalog to find the right learning opportunities for your students, don’t forget that we have many activities and events for you, your friends and your families to enjoy!
Throughout these pages, you’ll find entertaining and educational field trip opportunities for your students, professional development offerings to help you integrate these field trips into your classroom and more ways than you can imagine for you and your students to interact with local and national artists and other educators. plus, you’ll be surprised how easily everything fits with the work you already do in your classroom.
As always, we are proud to present performances throughout the school year for those teachers who make the community their classroom and wish to introduce their students to live theater. For our younger audiences, leo lionni’s Swimmy, Frederick & Inch by Inch returns and Mo Willem’s Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical hops into Cleveland. For older students, we are presenting lemony snicket’s The Composer Is Dead and Beakman on the Brain.
We also are proud to announce our second annual International Children’s Festival, May 3-7, 2011. During that week, students can see performances by international artists, create work to be showcased at the festival and participate in special festival activities. There is more information on page 6.
We thank our 22 partners in performance school districts for their continued commitment to introducing students to the magic of live theater. see page 8 for details on how your school can become involved.

PICNIC-sTyLE LuNCHEsIf you choose to participate in the playhousesquare picnic-style lunch program, please be aware of the following:
Only partners in performance schools are eligible to stay for lunches and must make lunch reservations when shows are ordered because of limited space. pizza may be ordered for lunch by calling 216-348-7909 or you may bring your own bag lunches.
On the day of your field trip, arrive early so that bag lunches can be collected before entry into the theater. Bag lunches will be re-distributed to students just before lunch. please make sure that each student’s lunch is clearly labeled with the following: student’s name, teacher’s name, homeroom number and school name. Collect all of the students’ lunches and box them by homeroom number.
We are happy to provide space for your class to participate in a picnic-style lunch and we appreciate your cooperation with the above requirements.
IMPORTANT: Due to the nature of the entertainment industry, all performances, dates and times listed in this catalog are subject to change without notice.
For assistance in choosing the best shows for your class, call 216-348-7909. All performances for schools are approximately one hour in length, unless otherwise noted. please remember that the house Manager is here to assist you before, during and after your school performance.
Inappropriate behavior may result in disciplinary action or suspension from school performances for one year. Home schools are required to submit certification with ticket orders. All members of home school parties must have a ticket for admission. No children under age two at school performances.
