Who Are We? Formed in 1951, the Pleasantville Chamber ofCommerce is an organization of retail, service, professional, industrialand civic members interested in living and working in a friendly andprosperous Pleasantville. The Chamber has initiated many programsand annual events that help keep the business climate of Pleasantvillevibrant. Dear Neighbors,
Welcome to the 2014-15 Where Is It? book. This community shopping and service direc-tory is once again published in support of our Chamber members by promoting their busi-nesses. We encourage the residents of Pleasantville and the surrounding areas to shoplocally and support their local retail and restaurant owners and professionals. This bookwas mailed to all residents and businesses in Pleasantville as well as distributed at realestate offices, supermarkets, Village Hall and high traffic locations.
The Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization with 185 mem-bers who volunteer their time and expertise by advancing and promoting the economicvitality and quality of life in Pleasantville.
The Executive Board manages the Chamber and meet monthly. Many Chamber programshave been part of our tradition for years and some are new. These activities include:
Monthly Chamber Member Meetings: Guest speakers are given the opportunity to providebrief presentations about their business or organization. See upcoming meeting dates onpage 4.
Shop, Dine, Explore, Enjoy Pleasantville! Brochure: Lists Chamber members by businesscategory. Featuring a map of downtown and Old Village businesses areas, highlightingmetered and permit parking and Village favorite destinations.
Business Person of the Year Reception: This event honors the Business Person of the Yearselected by Chamber members. The award is presented for consistently demonstratingbusiness by excellence, vision, innovation, leadership and community spirit.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies: New businesses are welcomed to Pleasantville with a ribboncutting ceremony attended by the Mayor and Chamber Executive Board members. Localmedia is invited to attend.
Chamber Chat: Show on Pleasantville Community TV (PCTV) featuring interviews withmembers about their businesses.
Chamber website: Informs members on Chamber activities and brings the larger commu-nity to the site by listing current information about Chamber and member events, salesand other items of interest. The member directory lists member contact information withbusiness profiles, photos and company logos.
Chamber e-blasts: E-newsletters are sent to membership and residents highlightingChamber news and noteworthy events.
Social Media: Chamber Facebook and Twitter postings about Chamber and membernews and happenings.

Student Visions: Sponsored by the Chamber, a program that promotes positive and activestudent participation in the community, including Pleasantville Day, Community Sing-Alongand Lighting Ceremony and Holiday Open House.
Holiday Community Sing-Along and Lighting Ceremony: Early in December enjoy holidaymusic classics, hot cocoa and treats at “Tree Island” (Manville Road and Great Oak Lane).
Holiday Happenings in Pleasantville brochure: Listing of holiday events in Pleasantvilleand Chamber members by business category. Brochure mailed before Thanksgiving toresidents and businesses with 10570 mailing address.
Holiday Open House: In December members offer sales, promotions and special events.Holiday music performed Downtown and in the Old Village.
In addition Chamber maintains active engagement with local Village government andcommunity leaders and provides information on local issues concerning ongoing Villagestreetscape, projects, parking, zoning and other “business interest” issues.
All our programs and events involve networking among Chamber members, communityleaders and civic organizations, as part of the fulfillment of our mission: “linking businessand community”. Pleasantville, a village of many things at the same time: historic, com-muter, business, restaurant, college and a suburban community. The business communityis proud to be part of the fabric of Pleasantville and that’s why our slogan is “Shop, Dine,Explore, Enjoy Pleasantville!”
