Introduction
In the textile sector present time is the time of
modern & new era. Man has invented a lot of modern
loom using with modern weft insertion system. So the
comparison of conventional loom & modern loom
indicates how much the conventional loom is
modified within the passing of time.
LoomO Loom is a very necessary part for weaving. Loom
is a machine or device which is used for producing
woven fabric. Loom is driven by two ways. These
are manual system and automatic system.
Hand loom
Features of hand loom
O The hand loom is the oldest type of weaving loom.
O The shuttle is used for pick insertion.
O The shuttle looms are slow and noisy.
O It operates by man power.
O Less initial cost then power loom.
O Less production capacity then power loom.
O Can not produce complex design like modern loom.
O Lower quality of fabric.
Power loom
O A power loom is a mechanized loom
which runs by steam or electric power.
Features of power loom:
O It driven by steam or electric power.
O More production capacity than hand loom.
O Shuttle used for picking.
O Tappet, dubby and jacquard shedding can be use.
O More production capacity then handloom.
O Can produce more complex design.
O Higher quality of fabric produce.
O More initial cost then handloom.
O Risk of fire hazard.
O More initial cost then handloom.
Modern Loom:Modern loom means shuttle less loom. It
development during the 20th century. Several types
of modern loom have come for industrial use.
Air jet loom:
Features of Air Jet Loom:
O Weft yarn insertion us done by air force.
O Finer count of yarn is used as the weft thread to produce fancy type of fabric.
Advantages:
O Higher production capacity.
O High quality and complex design fabric can produce.
Disadvantages:
O Loose pick.
O Need too high nozzle pressure.

Conclusion
The features of the Modern loom versus
conventional loom indicate the main
advantages of the modern loom. The
difference between the shedding and
picking motion and driving mechanism is
mainly described in this paper. We think the
creating activities of this assignment will
help us in our practical life.
