About the cover

foreword

An electronic bicycle or e-bike is a bicycle with an integrated electric motor which usually contains a rechargeable battery that can run up to 25 to 32km/h. Besides using the electric motor, it can also be used through pedaling. In regards with Compendium magazine’s issue, an e-bike is used as its cover photo because it is a hybrid of Modernism and Traditionalism being able to work technologically and traditionally.

Man’s greatest advantage over other living things is their ability to invent things. Through several centuries, mankind had been accustomed to the traditional way of living until the existence of technology sprouted that made the lives of many easier. From electronic devices, online procedures and virtual entertainment, people’s lifestyle had completely changed the traditional ways of living. In this issue of Compendium magazine, allow its contents to guide you to various arguments regarding Modernism and Traditionalism together with its positive and negative effects.

Our friends may never be always on our side.We sometimes feel the need to be with them and feel their presence. But there are times that our distances with them make it hard to feel their love for us. Communicating with our friends and relatives online is a good way to connect with them although there are also disadvantages that comes with it when it comes to privacy and time differences.

Whenever we get too comfortable in using the internet as a way in communicating with other people, we forget that our privacy is in danger. According to a blog posted by Milton Kazmeyer a contributor in eHow, one of the dangers of online communication is privacy concerns. It also stated that

there may be a third party that is able to intercept any unencrypted messges, which means some information can be used by marketers for their own purpose. We should always remember that sharing information online is not always recommended. Although there are times that communicating online really helped us in telling our friends and relatives about simple things in our daily lives.

If our relatives or friends live from another country which has different time zones from you, it is so hard to make the conversations live and on going. Sending important messages to your distant friend, needs alot of patience. Patience in waiting for their reply, and patience for finding a time where in both of you are online and can chat

instantaneously. But what is good about this is that you can leave a messages to each other in which they can read as soon as they get to open their inbox.

With these conflict that online communication gives us, we still want to continue chatting and talking through the internet because it makes it easier to talk and share stories with our friends that are far away .Through those messages that we send them, it is alright that we are not by their side .But we still have to remember our saftey in using internet as a medium to communicate with our relatives and friends.

Taking down notes using our electronic devices may be one of the harming factors for our health although it may be convenient. The new modern technology has brought us much more convenience starting from the 21th century, but science still tells and shows that overuse of these devices may bring harm to oneself in various way.

We are all aware of the incidents that have been occurring around the world. Which a number of people experience an explosion from devices, leading them to serious injuries by over usage of the devices, leading them to overheat without time to be cooled. Huge number of students nowadays uses smartphones, tablets and laptops in their school to take down notes. Almost every population nowadays are carrying their electronic devices everywhere, every time. The electric field from devices disrupts the human

body. Which it provides a chance for illness, stressed out or run down. Human’s electrical field called “Aura” which is generated by our cells and tissues also affects devices, which leads both of the electric field collide. What more can it bring when you are studying or working and you use devices, the amount of the stress your body gains!

Abandoning devices is not the key to answer this problem since it is something that came out in this world, but we should learn and we should teach of its proper usage and know our limits of our body which the person will be able to use devices freely, but to the point where it would be harmless to their health.

New era for artistsBy Camille Joy Gallardo

From the prehistoric times up to the 21st century, art had existed through painting, drawing, sculpting and so on which are widely known as traditional art. As different methods of art making emerged, artists have evolved into a whole new level where possibilities were limitless. With the inventions of editing software programs, graphic tablets, and pen displays, a new era for art making has come which is known as digital art. Unlike traditional art, digital art is preferable by people nowadays because of its accessibility, capabilities and inexpensiveness.

If you are a beginner and have taken an interest in creating your own art, traditional art may come as a complex method for you because it takes a lot of time and effort to learn skills required for making professional-looking output. However, when it comes to

accessibility digital art owns the stage because with the use of graphic pen tablet, pen displays, video tutorials and persistence almost everyone can produce art.

Digital art can be described as a time machine because it can literally turn back time when you’re in the process of making art. One of its capabilities is being able

to undo or redo and erase strokes in case you messed up your drawing, coloring or painting. Another point is that you won’t ever have to worry about waiting for your paint to dry leading you to make art free of pressure and stress.

Tools used for digital art can be expensive, that’s a fact; although if you compare it with the materials used in traditional art it may come as inexpensive. Buying a graphic pen tablet allows you to create art in unlimited canvases, brushes, pencils and other materials for a long period of time while in traditional art you have to buy expensive art materials that only last for a short period of time because at some point your supplies will eventually run out and then you have to buy again.

*** At the end of the day, one

cannot argue which method is better because art is a matter of preference. There are people who choose traditionalism rather than modernism and truth be told, both traditional art and digital art have their own pros and cons. It all depends on who’s creating the magic, the kind of magic that moves people’s hearts—that is art.

Knowledge infour corners

E-Class or schoolbook is something new for me; since first semester we have been using the schoolbook. The schoolbook has been an ease of access for both the professor and the students. It has made studying more easier, it is just one click of a button for a student to communicate with the professor regarding the subject, catching up with lessons is just a second away and doing quizzes and home works will be effortless. However, schoolbook has its advantages and disadvantages than the traditional classroom set up.

It is actually great using the schoolbook because when doing your homework and online quizzes or assessments, you can just search the answers for the questions at the internet or open your notes. It is also a great way for the professor to communicate with the students, for example a professor will have to announce that he or she will have to cancel the class the professor could just post an announcement to

the schoolbook, the professor could also post her lessons and power point slides for the students especially to those who needs to catch up.

However, schoolbook has been a way for a student to become lazy and more reliable to it. The students can control their schedule on when they will do their homework, quizzes and projects, they are not able to manage their time in this scenario. Leakage and cheating between the students is also a great chance to happen.

It is more advisable to have a traditional classroom set up, where in you are being disciplined, socializing with others as well as with your professors personally and where you can enjoy your life as a student. It is more fun to study in a classroom because in here you can ask questions immediately to your professors if you didn’t understand a part of your lesson or regarding

about your assignments and your quizzes. Studying in a classroom is also a great thing if you are having fun with your professors, especially those who are inspiring and fun to be with.

I, as a student, always encounter such projects where the students are required to do a major task known as research paper. I even realized and learned that one of the most important points is to have

reliable sources of information to be written on that paper. These reliable sources could be written in books or found on the Internet. However, I greatly believe that a student researcher could make a successful research paper if one would not depend on what the Internet could give because it is full of unreliable pieces of information, it is a vast open-market for anyone and books provide more accurate sources of information.

The Internet is full of unreliable pieces of information. It is true that the Internet is same as an online library and could give limitless and numberless information – in just a single click, everything comes out in an instant and answers pop out that respond to a question. However, student researchers will find it difficult to verify the information gathered from the Internet because these things usually do not obtain a copyright and the author’s or sponsor of the page’s identity is not always identified. Though there are still few reliable sources from the Internet provided by trusted websites, danger is still inevitable because of those unreliable and fallacious statements and pieces of information being posted on the Internet without any details from the author or the page’s sponsor.

Furthermore, Internet is likely considered as a vast open-market where anyone, professional or unprofessional, can post and edit any articles they want. Others who wish to spread false information may use Internet as a way to tolerate such happening by taking advantage of it. Some people might even rewrite and revise information from credible sources and put it on the Internet without the proper knowledge of the owner. On the other hand, passing messages from the other person to another person is the same as how the Internet’s system does it. It relays information from the other website to another until the real content of the information would be misled. In that case, student researchers who are fond of depending on the Internet might accidentally use those pieces of information without prior and thorough research studies.

Books are more accurate sources of information than the Internet. Those books which can be found in the library are the most reliable sources that any researcher could have despite the fact that everyone is now living in a modern society together with modern technologies. Through this, there will be no way of getting false information because library books undergo first a number of checks before it can finally be released in university libraries. That’s why, people will not be able to easily change or edit such information written on a book without undergoing different official processes.

Thus, a good student researcher could make an excellent research paper if one would not depend on what the Internet could give because it is full of unreliable pieces of information, it is a vast open-market for anyone and books really provide more accurate sources of information.

Childhood is a part of man’s life cycle. Everyone will go in this stage of life. Maybe this could be the most memorable part of one’s life. In this period, all you do is to play until the sun goes down and your mama will tell you that it is a time to go home.

But in this generation, it happens to change. Technology becomes part of every man’s life and I agree with it. Although we are now living in the world surrounded by fast-changing technology, I still see that playing with real humans is more fun and more enjoyable.

A lot of technology sprung up in this age. From doing homeworks, cooking or even in playing. I witnessed how fast the technology ruled the world. I was born in a year were kids love to play outside and the favourite time of the afternoon is 3 o’clock. It was the most awaited time for all kids in my generation. We love to play especially Filipino games such as dodge ball, hopscotch, garter games like Chinese garter and ten-twenty, hide and seek, patintero, marble games, paper dolls, bahay-bahayan and more. I remembered that I used to go home with my shirt full of seat and stain from my hands and face and my yaya will scold me. Even though I was being scolded, I still keep on playing with my friends because I feel happy and I think it is fun.

Sudden shift happened when I learned how to use computer in my first grade. I started to be curious about computer games. My friends often tell me to try play in websites like Y8, Games for Girls, Solitaire, Minesweeper, and more. I tried and I enjoyed it. But I didn’t enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed playing every afternoon with my friends because playing computer games lessen my time in interacting with real humans. My emotions when playing computer games is limited unlike when I socialize with my friends, I can shout, I can be mad when I feel I’m going to lose, I can cheer up my playmates or I can be so much happy when I feel I’m going to win. I can also see the true reactions of my playmates when we see each other in person rather than facing the screen of the monitor and guessing what they are thinking now. Aside from that, you can enhance your honesty, conscience, and sportsmanship when playing with real humans, unlike when playing computer games you can do all kinds of cheat just to win because it is just a computer and no one can see it.

There are a lot of differences when it comes to playing with computer and playing with real humans. I could say that playing with real people is not just about winning or losing, rather it is more of creating sweet memories that I can treasure and say that I become happy and I enjoy every second I spent playing with my playmates than playing computer games. When you lose in that game the game is over and will just leave you a memory of being defeated by a computer. Having said that, I strongly believe that getting real happiness and enjoyment is real when playing with real humans than computers.

Shopping is an activity enjoyed by everyone and it is also a leisure time for some people. As our technology is progressing, shopping has become easier and hassle free through the use of internet. It is more convenient than shopping at the mall because it is just one click away and you can buy products that you want online. Online shopping includes buying clothes, gadgets, shoes, appliances, or even daily groceries. But many people feel like shopping at the mall because it is more precise and you can instantly take it home rather than shopping online which you can be deceived and

it will take time because of the delivery.

Mall shopping is precise because you can already see the actual product and check or tell whether the quality is good or not. When it comes in buying clothes, you can already figure out if the shirt is fitted and good on you. You can already bring it home after you buy the product.

Online shopping can be deceiving because pictures that they posts can betray you. There are many photo editors and photo applications are available online. You can just apply a filter and create a professional-looking photo and post it on your online store.

When receiving the item, you will realize that the color is not the same, you will not meet your expectations regarding to the quality of the product that you saw on the photos. It will take a long time before you receive the product because of the delivery and shipping fees are expensive.

Online shopping nowadays is more popular than mall shopping. Knowing the advantages and disadvantages of the two can really help you which one is better. Many customers still prefer to buy at the mall because it is more fun and enjoyable.

College students in colleges or universities particularly in DLSU-D are encouraged to use “OnE” or the online enrolment rather than manual enrolment once they have entered the second semester of being a freshman. Based on the recent experience I had from “OnE”, I couldn’t help but compare both of the enrolment processes, which is better? Which is easier? Now, both of the enrolment processes has its own number of advantages and disadvantages but it seems to be that “OnE” is the better process, for starters, it is easier, more convenient and

has various options to make the enrolment process a breeze whilst manual enrolment is time-consuming and takes a lot of effort.

The benefits of the manual enrolment process are: 1. You can pay your fees immediately (Because the payment counter is like a long walk away from your recent counter.) 2. Enrolment

will be a guaranteed success!. Next up is the disadvantages which are 1. You have to go to school early and stand for a very long time while being in a line 2. You don’t get to pick a schedule for the subject, unfortunately. 3. The painfully long process of the enrolment. 4. Time consuming.

The benefits of the “OnE” enrolment process are the following 1. Faster process 2. Convenient. However there are still disadvantages of the process such as 1. Faulty school website. 2. Huge amounts of errors before you could reach the home page 3. Unsure of the thought if you are enrolled or not.

According to a survey conducted by the students of BCS 11 of DLSU-D Milcalyn Sato, Joram Kate Leonardo, Charina Sacristan and Sharmaine Brillo. The survey consists of four questions and one hundred fifty responses from the students of DLSU-D, 66% are in favour of OnE while the remaining 34% are in favour of Manual enrolment.

Now we can say that

OnE may have its ups and downs but students like myself would rather stay at home behind a computer or a laptop in order to do the enrolment process than go out and wait in lines in the blazing heat of the day. In addition to that it is easier than manual, more convenient and student friendly as long as you have a fast internet connection.

Experiences of the Lasallian week 2015 • By Jihun ChoiI could say that it was an awesome week during the past few days of the Lasallian Festival.

Although I did not really participate a lot in the events but still, it was such brilliant days to enjoy. Two of the things I could remember is that there where bunch of different foods and the events that occurred during the week.

During the week of the Lasallian Festival, I was able to experience different kinds of bazaars especially the ones that opened near the main gate of La Salle. Different companies came in such as Krispy crème, KFC; Cold stone… there were just too many of them that I was really difficult to have them all at the same time. I could not forget that I was really curious about the ice cream called “fried ice cream” and I was hooked into it. It was the first time ever seeing that and tasting it. Few other shops were opened also in many different places such as café museo and the square canteen. I enjoyed the bazaars as if I was on a journey alone searching for food, but I wished that it had been way more exciting if I hanged out with friends if I could! I was also in the opening ceremony of the program, which was located at the grand stand, which was lead by the La Salle high school junior students by performing the Philippines traditional dance with bulakan and sambalilo. It was quite dazzling during the morning and it was fine since I was able to experience a cultural show. The other activity I was able to be part or either it was also a requirement was the reed concert. It was actually really tired not because the show was boring but I had to stand the whole time with other people bumping around and I was actually quite stressed about it.

All of the activities that I was able to experience was a very memorable moment. It was quite fun to have time, eat different foods and experience different kind of things during the Lasallian Festival.

Indelible performance • By Thea Ileana RementillaI will never forget my first dance as a new member of the La

Salle Filipiniana Dance Company at the opening of the Lasallian Week last February 16, 2015. Though it is not really my “first” dance, but it was my first time to be casted to dance in front of many people. I was also surprised and embarrassed at the same time when I saw a picture of me posted on the school’s Facebook page. I was so ashamed because of my face, I should be smiling there because that dance was a rural suite and I should be smiling while dancing at the whole time but the photographer caught me with an awkward face. But I feel special because my picture was chosen to post on a page. And I’m happy when my friends saw me and they keep on cheering me. Indeed, my first dance was the highlight of my first Lasallian Week experience.

COM Variety Show: a meaningful event • By Jazmine Estorninos

For a freshman, joining activities during Lasallian Festival is a first time opportunity that shouldn’t be missed because this five-day festival caters a lot of surprises and fun-filled activities. One of the best activities that the Lasallian Festival offered where we, together with my block mates, enjoyed the most was the COM Variety Show for it taught us the significance and value of cooperation, creativity and unity. At Tanghalang Julian Felipe,

all AB Communication students gathered, including me, to partake in the said activity. That time, I have noticed what the variety show wanted us to learn – the value of

cooperation. On that very moment, I felt really glad and overwhelmed because of the great number of students who cooperated in the activity. I have truly noticed that the students have shown and learned the significance of cooperation as the festival went on. More so, the short films that were presented made by the students and talents that were showcased on the stage highlighted the AB Communication students’ unique creativity. Their acting, singing and dancing skills made it to the top. Those were proofs that AB Communication students are indeed creative in every aspect. In addition, the most important thing that this festival taught us is the value of unity. Each year level, composed of different block sections, presented their golden talents and amazing production numbers that completely showed the unity and oneness of all. It was only the time when I saw the unity in diversity of various block sections. This one of a kind experience brought by the Lasallian Festival’s COM Variety Show left a big stamp not just in my memory, but also in my heart. The meaningful values and lessons I learned from the COM Variety Show will always be cherished and remembered as I grow older.

KA.BA.RA.TO. • By Ysabela BariaThe last day of the Lasallian Festival which happens to be the so-called “KA.BA.RA.TO. concert” was

indeed the most memorable day I’ve ever experienced in my entire freshman year. On the beginning of the day my organization and other committees began to prepare for the concert proper which made me really ecstatic because of the fact that I’m still a new member but I was given an opportunity to take the role of the assistant stage manager, for the first time in my freshman life. As the time goes by I get to meet the guest performers, DJs and bands which happens to be that all of them were my favourite OPM bands and DJs! I couldn’t really think of what I’m supposed to do because I was all giddy and excited like a fan girl! But I regained my cool and went all professional and as the concert ended successfully, I grabbed the opportunity to take pictures with the IMAGO, Moonstar88, Chicosci, 6 Cyclemind and two of the most awesome DJs Katsy Lee and Marc Naval plus the coolest hosts Joyce Pring and MC Paolo Avila and as a bonus, I got their autographs at the back of my ID. To sum it all up it was indeed the best day of the Lasallian week and I cannot wait to do it again next year!

Moving pictures that lingered • By Camille Joy GallardoI was only a few steps away from the entrance of Tanghalang Julian Felipe and little did I know that

this was the place where I would witness the most memorable event I could ever fathom. What is it, you ask? It was the COM Variety Show hosted by the Communication Program Council or CPC. The COM Variety Show became the most memorable event for me because of the amazing talents shown by selected COM students and the outstanding films produced by the fourth years.

As I sat on the convertible seat, the male and female hosts appeared onstage to finally break the ice. The way they deliver their lines were comical and on point that the wait was worthwhile. When the hosts disappeared, the opening prayer and the singing of the national anthem commenced. Alas! The show finally started. The first and a half performances were all presented through singing while the last performance was presented through dancing. Probably the highlight of all the performances, in my opinion, would be the dance presentation done by the fourth years. I saw them danced beautifully to the tune of Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars that I was not able to take my eyes off of them. Their moves were graceful and groovy that it urges you to follow the beat. The amazing talents of selected COM students showed in that event was truly astonishing that I wished for more.

Amusement filled my heart even further as the hosts announced that they would be showing two films produced by the fourth years. Watching a film for free sounded pleasant and somewhat rang a sweet melody in and out of my ears, I was ecstatic! The first film was a romantic film wherein the protagonist is one of the officers in CPC— Mr. Dominic De Luna. The production, acting and storyline had a touch of professionalism in it. What shocked me the most was the moment when the protagonist leans towards the heroine with the intention to kiss her. I ridiculed the idea of the kiss being real but after a few seconds I was proven wrong. The kiss actually happened and that’s the moment I lost it. I was practically screaming, yelling and squealing along with the crowd because I did not expect it at all! Moving on, the next film was a horror film. Honestly, I did not have high expectations for the second film because I do not particularly like horror films and have seen other Filipino horror movies that did not scare me one bit. But then again, the second film had that creepy vibe put into it. With the psychotic aunt, demonic entity and mysterious plot brilliantly placed in the film had me screaming at the top of my lungs. Sadly, I was not able to finish the film because the time was not enough for the screening of the movie plus there was another event happening outside JFH. Nonetheless, it did not change the fact that the outstanding films produced by the fourth years were remarkable and I loved it.

To end my narrative here are the words from Blaise Pascal, “Man’s greatness lies in his power of thought.” I believed that there is greatness in us that’s waiting to be awakened. The event had been an eye opener to me that it affected me psychologically, emotionally and mentally. What I witnessed in that event had made me inspired and challenged me to be the best that I can be.

1+ Experience • By Arielle Dayne SamonteKeeping in mind that I am a first year student, and it is my first time to celebrate Lasallian week,

I was excited and somehow nervous about what might happen during the week.I participated in two of the activities in CLAC,the screening of “The trial” and Media fest in which I get to experience extraordinary things that many Lasallian students should experience.

It was a very sunny morning when I woke up and realized its the start of the Lasallian week festival. When I arrived at school, I was not able to attend the opening of the celebration because I am one of the committe in Communication Program Council. In which that day, all of the committee will be having a film screening of the movie “The Trial”. I was sitting at the back of the theater and I could see and hear the peoples reaction about the movie. Even though I did not get to finish the movie , because I was asked to keep an eye of the people going in the theater, I felt so happy that the movie made them think of what the ending was and that many students enjoyed the movie.

It was after the tiring work with the screening of “The Trial”, when me and my fellow commitee 16COMPENDIUM

That thing called Lasallian week • By Bea Katrina Granada

My first Lasallian week was a great experience to experience since I started studying here in this university. I witnessed the dance performance of the sophomore students from different colleges or they simply called it Karakol. After watching the dance performance, the university President, Brother Gus Bocquer gave his short message to formally open the one week celebration of Lasallian Festival. The next thing I did was I went to watch a film showing entitled the Trial that really touched my heart and made me realized that love is for everyone no matter who you are. When the time turned 12 o’clock in the afternoon, I went to my favourite place for this Lasallian week and that was Bazaar where I bought a lot of goodies and treats for myself. Before ending up my whole day of the first day of Lasallian week, I attended a seminar about Humor which was the speaker of the event was Joselito A. delos Reyes. My first day was really productive and fun. So, I could really say that my first Lasallian week was a great experience to experience since I started studying here in this university.

members met Joselito de los Reyes. He is the author of “Istatus Nation” and a engineering professor in UST. We were eating at CJD when he arrived and he talked to us about how he was so tired because of traveling. What amazed me was he is a professor and he calmly told us that he havent met any students for a long time. He wanted us to introduce ourselves like one of those “ first days “ of classes. We all laughed and shared stories. We even made jokes and we were all talking like he is just our friend. He was so humble and he is very transparent.During the talk, he explained things about humor and what are the types of humor are there .I am glad that I got to have this experience in which made me realize how la salle really do exert effort for this celebration.

I am very glad that I get to be a part of this family with a very active environment. I hope to be more participative next year and get to be more involved with the activities made for us to enjoy and celebrate.

First Lasallian week • By Alexis Jerahmeel TecsonLasallian Festival is one of the most awaited week every year here in De La Salle University-Dasmarinas.

Every college student are very excited and anticipating new events every year. As a freshman or frosh per se, I really have no idea what I should feel, should I be excited because it is my first time to experience this one whole week of lasallian festival or should I just let it be and enjoy the moment and don’t put my expectations up. I have two favourite event during the lasallian festival, one is the opening of the whole festival and next is the private screening of the movie “The Trial.” “The Trial” it is a movie that is very heart-touching, bizarre and remarkable.

I was really touched at the movie because I grew up in a family that is open to persons who are mentally challenge because my sister and my brother graduated AB Psychology and they tell me stories of their clients who has this kind of challenge in life; I understand how the character of John Lloyd Cruz is experiencing and how his family has been through. I always feel sad for persons with this kind of disability. The concept of the story is really strange and very unpredictable because you wouldn’t expect on how it will end and it is something new for me and as well for the other because I haven’t encountered a movie that actually focuses on a mentally challenge person that is being accused to the court. I really wouldn’t forget the movie because the movie has made me laugh, cry and be shocked, and if I would rate it I would give a 5 star and it is really a must watch movie.

OPINION

For the past 17 years of my life, my parents have been my strength and my inspiration who provided me everything in order to live a better life. They were my strength for they served as my first teachers who taught me how to speak, walk, write, count and live this life despite the circum-stances it brings. They were my strength for they were always by my side to give determination and courage just to tackle and pursue my goals in this unpredictable world full of challenges. Through ups and downs, they were there. More so, my parents were my inspiration for they are the reason why I strive harder in my studies. I want to repay them for everything they have done and give them back the care and love in each and every day. They were my inspiration because I know that they are even more proud than I for myself in sorrow and joys. Lastly, they were my inspiration because without them, I am nothing. My parents, really, they have proven to me how tough it is to become parents and still be able to serve as strengths and inspirations for their children. | By Jazmine Estorninos

It goes up, it goes down, it actually goes all around.Sometimes it goes fast ,sometimes it goes slow.I like going to amusement parks and riding these kinds of roller coasters. It was truly scary at first but when I tried it, I cant stop thinking about how it felt to be so high and feeling like flying and so low that feels so deep. There are different types of roller coasters. For kids, there are simple rides that only goes up and down which is less dangerous. For adults there are crazy rides that goes up and down and left and right .Although they are different, it all makes us happy .Roller coasters are some of the rides that is mostly feard by people. For me, as long as i know it is safe, it will be worth the risk.Out of all the rides ou there , I picked this because it looks like it will literally drive you crazy. | By Arielle Dayne Samonte

Cookies are just my weakness. Everytime I see cookies in the stores, in the markets or even at home, I am starting to crave and to eat some. Cookies are just one of my comfort food. Usually, I pair cookies with milk or juice. I eat cookies every snack time, when I get hungry and I’m finding sweets or I just feel to eat cookies. They are just so easy to find and to eat. You could see cookies everywhere and sometimes they just only cost ten pesos in the store. So that is why they become one of my favourite pastries. Cookies are kind of pastry that need to be baked, but without a yeast some-times. Cookies become different from others because of the texture, size, and shape, but usually they are in round shape. There are some cookies which are soft and chewy, but sometimes they are dry and crunchy. But most texture I prefer in cookies is soft and chewy and topped with lot of chocolate chips. I just love the feeling of how the cookies melt in my mouth. Cookies are just so simple, but because of its simplicity I remember my childhood days, my sweet childhood days. | By Bea Katrina Granada

“A persons own family is, without doubt, the greatest wealth we will ever possess.” A family picture would be a typical thing to show if asked for a picture that inspire you the most; but who could ask for more in change of his or her family? My family is a complete package of inspiration,

because I set my parents as my inspiration and I set my brother and sister as my encouragement in life and my role models.

I set my parents as my inspiration because I know that they have plans and they have set goals for me, and this has kept me going in life. I know that they have dreams for me and I know that they have worked hard for my future. The both of them have given us a great life and I would just like to repay it. My brother and sister are

my encouragers, they cheered me up when I am down and we help each other. They are my inspirations as well, because they have been

through a lot of trials have many experiences already.

I will always love them unconditionally and without fear because it is the main ingredient for a family that is harmonious. I would never ask for a different family and I will always thank God for giving me a family that is unique and a match for me. | By Alexis Jerahmeel Tecson

Love happens in a flash of a moment. It has no limitations and knows no boundaries. No matter how old or young you are there’s nothing that can

stop you from finding—as fairy tales go—your one true love. Just like in the picture, there was this 10 year old girl who was oblivious in the meaning of love. Until she met a boy older than her who liked her for who she is. They were attracted to each other, became infatuated and one thing led to another. Fate had held them together form almost 7 years and still they were inseparable. As incredulous as it

sounds, it is all real. For I was that little girl who fell in love with the right man at such a young age. | By Camille Joy Gallardo

Meet my family, I know what you are thinking, chubbiness runs in the family right? Anyways back to the topic, this is my family and I love them to death. My family isn’t the happy-all-the-freaking-t i m e type, we are the kind of family that bonds in a different way which is through

bickering, yes, bickering. It may kind of sound terrible, but that’s how the Baria family rolls. What we do is kind of fun actually and at the end of the

day you will surely know that we would pretend like nothing happened, no bickering, fights, insults, nothing. We would switch everything back to the way it was before the fighting, the laughing-loving-type of family. It may kind of sound cheesy but they are seriously the raddest family ever! And the best part? They trust and believe in me, we would

stick together through the good times and the bad. To end the never ending story short, I love them all and I think that they are the most

important people to me and I thank God for blessing me a super awesome family! | By Ysabela Baria

When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thing you do?Well I think that we all have this in common, where we all look into our watch, clock, smartphones and any other devices or things that we could check our time.In living our 21 century, time management is essential for anyone because every job nowadays is a fight against time. There is a saying that time is gold. We need to have, and it is also very necessary for us to carry any device with us that is used to measure time for our time management. I really agree that time is gold. What do you think of time? Do you think that time is important?Well, if you have used your time too freely and you feel that you have wasted it, Then now is the time to change and know that time is a great gift and blessing to mankind from the creator who allowed this world to exist. | By Jihun Choi
