COMPIEGNE - 12th March

Trainer of the day : Cédric Boutin (201, 303, 410, 604)

Jockey of the day : Coralie Pacaut (301, 401, 601, 801)

Horse of the day : Palombe (506)

Dark Horse : Max la Fripouille (103)

Race 1

1. PRINCE NOMAD - Won a Quinte over a shorter trip here in July of last season but will find this a difficult task and others are preferred

2. PINKIE BROWN - A former hurdles and steeplechase winner in Great Britain he found the winning groove on the level at Cagnes last time. Interesting

3. MAX LA FRIPOUILLE - A five time winner from thirty three he finished a length and a half third to Dark Dream at Cagnes in January and will get closer this time

4. DARK DREAM - Won one of these feature events at Cagnes in January but has been well held off in two subsequent runs so looking for a bounce back

5. MY SWEET LORD - Gained the last of his half dozen wins at Maisons-Laffitte last April but was regressive in a handful of runs thereafter

6. HAYA KAN - Notched up victory number six at Nantes last November and despite the ever increasing handicap mark can go well. Proven fresh

7. TRES SOLID - An eight time winner from fifty seven and won a claimer at Cagnes-sur-Mer in January. Not in the same form since and is overlooked here

8. TEMPLE BOY - Strung together a run of really good efforts late last year before a rather tame attempt against some of these at Cagnes on latest start

9. LINARDO - Has done well since arriving from Germany winning twice which include scraping home last time at Deauville. Might struggle this time though

10. OEUVRE - She is four from forty two and notched up two in a row at Bordeaux-Le -Bouscat last November and must come into the reckoning on reappearance

11. ROUXEVILLE - One of the more lightly raced ones's in the field boasting three wins from just the thirteen starts. Still needs a big one today

12. VASY SAKHEE - She has won two of her eighteen outings and despite what looks like a very stiff mark could be an each way player

13. GONZALO - He has won three of his twenty two runs and has been mixing the flat with both hurdles and steeplechases. Others look better today

14. DARK DESIRE - He has just the sole success from twenty two starts but basically rarely runs a poor one and can be counted in here

15. SCANDALEUX - He is a triple winner from twenty four including an ordinary handicap at Cagnes-sur-Mer on penultimae start. Others look better handicapped

16. FAIR TRADE - Once a very good sort in Germany with a turn of foot he has continued to display ability in this country. Each way claims perhaps

Summary

Nothing quiet like a sixteen runner field going at pace in a distance event to set the pulse racing so this Quinte sets up to be a real corker with many of the runners so closely matched. A stab is taken on (14) DARK DESIRE to take the honours following a series of meritorious efforts. (6) HAYA KAN is a danger to all and can go well fresh. (16) FAIR TRADE can get the strong pace he so craves. (3) MAX LA FRIPOUILLE and (10) OEUVRE have at least got strong each way claims also. None of the others would be surprise packets for that matter in a mouthwatering opening to proceedings.

Selections

(14) DARK DESIRE - (6) HAYA KAN - (16) FAIR TRADE - (3) MAX LA

FRIPOUILLE - (10) OEUVRE - (8) TEMPLE BOY - (4) DARK DREAM - (7) TRES SOLID

Race 2

1. LIPARI - Grand campaigner in Germany and won a claimer at Marseille-Borely last time out

2. NOSTALBOWL - Currently on a hat trick after gaining two emphatic wins at Cagnes this term

3. DOME DE LA BLAIRIE - Four time winner from fifty two and two good placings in latest efforts

4. DON PAPA - Won at Cagnes in January and went well enough then next time before a laboured latest try

5. SERIENSCHOCK - Lovely dual purpose campaigner who has loads of ability. Never to be ruled out

6. FONTVIEILLE - Has won nine of her seventy three starts and runner up to Nostabowl last time . Every hope

7. CREATEUR - Thrice a winner from twenty nine and could be coming to the boil once more

8. ENFIN SEULS - Made it career win number three on penultimate start but made a poor job of follow up bid last year

9. RUDEBAN - Has been mixing codes without success for nearly a year so best watched here

10. SCOTTISH SUN - Won at Cagnes last month before a sub par effort also back there subsequently

11. AYGUEMORTE - Only the one victory from forty three and that stat is quiet damning so overlooked

Summary

When an animal starts hitting the heights of form like (2) NOSTALBOWL has been doing this year at Cagnes it is generally not a good idea to oppose such types so even though lumbered with penalties he is still made a strong selection to gain the hat trick and in doing so confirm the placings with (6) FONTVIEILLE from last time. The evergreen (5) SERIENSCHOCK and (1) LIPARI looked booked for the frame.

Selections

(2) NOSTALBOWL - (6) FONTVIEILLE - (5) SERIENSCHOCK - (1) LIPARI

Race 3

1. MEASURE OF A DAY - He is still a maiden after a dozen starts but has a lofty enough rating to be very competitive here

2. RASTER - Placed in half of his eight runs and could conceivably trouble the judge again

3. HENRY BRULARD - One win from nineteen and was third in a claimer here last week so every chance

4. VICOPISANO - Still a maiden after eight but had shown promise till a puncture last time out

5. BAFANA LINNGARI - Not too much much promise in his three starts late last year so must do better

6. SIGLO DE ORO - Runner up on penultimate start at Le-Croise-Laroche so could figure today

7. MOJO BOY - Just a couple of places in his seven runs and will do well to get close at all

8. WINSTON IS BACK - A newcomer by Poet's Voice who is hopefully well named for connection on belated debut

Summary

(1) MEASURE OF A DAY will most certainly get fewer opportunities to beak his duck than this poor looking claiming contest for males. He has achieved a fair level of form and basically should be greeting the judge in front. (3) HENRY BRULARD ran well here last week so must enter calculations. (6) SIGLO DE ORO and (2) RASTER are best of the rest.

Selections

(1) MEASURE OF A DAY - (3) HENRY BRULARD - (6) SIGLO DE ORO - (2)

RASTER

Race 4

1. WIMALYA - Won nicely last December in Deauville but blew out in two races at Chantilly this year

2. ENVY - Off the mark on the last of her ten starts here last week and a surefire player again

3. DITES MOI - Yet to be placed in four runs and looks a forlorn hope once more here today

4. COURTESANA - Tenth on debut at Saint-Cloud last November and needs to improve markedly on that

5. VIDA LOCA - Just the one success from nineteen but has been pretty consistent in the main

6. SILVER GIRL - Off the mark on the last of her six runs which was at Cagnes last month so can go well

7. VINACCIA - Her best placing from half a dozen runs was in third but needs a lifetime best now

8. BROOKLYN SISTER - Finished eighth on debut at Angers last October but that will not suffice here

9. PLANTAYYA - Very little in her four runs to date and will be as easy chuck out for this too

10. RACHAEL'S ROCKET - One win from her thirteen starts and was second to Envy here a few days ago

11. VEGA DE LA CUESTA - Third on debut last season but it has not been straightforward in a handful of runs since

12. SATILLA - Nothing at all in her three efforts to date and she must make drastic improvement

13. ESPALDINHA - Put together four good runs during the middle to later stages of last season but still more required

Summary

A quick reappearance here for (2) ENVY who shed her maiden status in fine style over this course and distance just a few days ago. There is no reason at all why she will not confirm the form with the second from that day (10) RACHAEL'S ROCKET who still looks set for the forecast ahead of (6) SILVER GIRL and (1) WIMALYA.

Selections

(2) ENVY - (10) RACHAEL'S ROCKET - (6) SILVER GIRL - (1) WIMALYA

Race 5

1. SWEET THOMAS - Genuine German performer who has found winning just a bit tough but always to be trusted

2. SAMIRE - He has won two from twenty seven but has had a torrid time over hurdles of late

3. KING PLATIN - A dual winner from twenty seven but has been beaten far enough on all four starts this year

4. COPYING - Won on her debut here exactly a year ago but just the one subsequent run soon after. Back from that absence

5. NACHT - Only the one victory from thirty nine and is very easy to oppose now. A chuck out

6. PALOMBE - Very lightly raced winning as a two year old back in 2106 and just three efforts since which had promise. Look's the one here

7. INFANTA ISABELLA - Fifth on her only start at Chepstow in June of last year. Interesting raider from Britain

Summary

There are two striking features of this conditions event. Firstly Andre Fabres' representative (6) PALOMBE looks an absolute shoe in on the ratings and form having been lightly raced and merits the nap of the day and secondly the fact that George Baker sends the onced raced (7) INFANTA ISABELLA all the way over from Britain. (1) SWEET THOMAS is reliable for third with (4) COPYING next.

Selections

(6) PALOMBE - (7) INFANTA ISABELLA - (1) SWEET THOMAS - (4) COPYING

Race 6

1. HEXIS - Was in really good form until stepping up in class lately where found out

2. QUALISAGA - Off the mark on the last of her eleven starts at Strasbourg in October so could be dangerous

3. SUN DE L'ORME - Finished third on her debut last October but poor in four subsequent outings

4. LOUVE SAGE - Had a productive last season winning four from ten and could be the type to improve a little

5. BAR MINA - Just the one win from eighteen and starting to look very exposed nowadays

6. FOX MINT - Only one place from five outings between here and in Britain and easy now to oppose

7. FAMILY MONEY - Placed in three of his eleven runs but he has work to do now at this stage

8. CONSTANTINOPLE - Sole success from ten came as a two year old but lightly raced since then

9. SABAWA - Dual winner from nineteen but has had plenty of racing and is well exposed

Summary

(2) QUALISAGA and Hexis are the two that leap off the page here as far as where the winner might emanate from. The former is chosen to carry on some good work from late last season which saw her sign off with a win at Strasbourg. (1) HEXIS will appreciate this drop in class and should be good for second. (4) LOUVE SAGE and (7) FAMILY MONEY can make the judge work too.

Selections

(2) QUALISAGA - (1) HEXIS - (4) LOUVE SAGE - (7) FAMILY MONEY

Race 7

1. ALLEGRO FORTE - Five time scorer from eighteen but completely out of form at this moment

2. PORTALAY - Won twice last season and would have a chance if ready to go on reappearance

3. SANDOSIDE - Nine time winner from eighty seven but latest few efforts would not enthuse anybody

4. STAR SYSTEM - Thrice a winner from thirty one and good second at Cagnes last time out so every chance

5. HUNDRED ACRE - Twice a winner from nineteen but on a long losing run now and cannot be fancied

6. WARRIGAL - Last of seven wins came at Mons and does a lot of racing in Belgium with success

7. RAVEN RIDGE - Five time winner from forty seven but last two outings are well below standard

Summary

It is easy enough to side with (2) PORTALAY for this small field claiming contest. The selection won twice last year in a good second half of the season and will be a big force in this company if ready after a short break which he should be given connections. (7) RAVEN RIDGE should prefer this easier grade. (4) STAR SYSTEM and (6) WARRIGAL should run well also.

Selections

(2) PORTALAY - (7) RAVEN RIDGE - (4) STAR SYSTEM - (6) WARRIGAL

Race 8

1. BELARISSO - Has won half a dozen times from thirty three. Finished last season in great nick and has already won this term

2. MONTESQUIEU - Thirteen time winner from ninety but completely out of form so far this year and not considered

3. KINGS LYN - Dual winner from thirty and good runner up at Pau in a claimer last time. Each way chance

4. COCO PANACHE - Just the one place from half a dozen outings but surely an outsider here today

5. RODYANA - Triple scorer from twenty three. Almost a year since last of those and plenty to prove now

6. SYNDROMOS - Twice a winner from twenty seven. This dual purpose campaigner is a high risk bet

7. TWISTINA - Only one win from twenty but very nice effort when runner up at Marseille -Borley last time. Big player

8. ANOTHER LOVE - Remains a maiden after ten and just a couple of places in those. Others much preferred

9. O CIUCIARELLA - Still a maiden after eleven and looks a complete no hope in this too today

Summary

Hopefully the backers will have had a profitable day up to this juncture and it will continue if Pierre-Charles Boudot can help his legion of followers by steering (3) KINGS LYN into the number one spot. The gelding signalled a return to form when runner up in a Pau claimer last time and can go one better here. Many will prefer the chances of (7) TWISTINA and with some merit. (1) BELARISSO and (2) MONTESQUIEU can come next.

Selections

(3) KINGS LYN - (7) TWISTINA - (1) BELARISSO - (2) MONTESQUIEU

13. EVA MOKO - Successful at Toulouse and at Agen-Le Passage last year. First run since October

Summary

The unbeaten (11) ECLAT DE REP can add to his sequence despite not being seen since October. Francois Pierre Bossuet's son of Texas Charm seems to have a touch of class however if he is a bit ring rusty the hattrick-seeking (3) EPSOM DE GOUPILLEL will probably be the one to take advantage. Nantes-winner (8) EPEE DE JANEIRO also has claims for a share of the purse.

Selections

(11) ECLAT DE REP - (3) EPSOM DE GOUPILLEL - (8) EPEE DE JANEIRO -

Summary

Last year's winner of this race (9) VEINARD DE FARCHAT was still in line for a place when breaking stride in his first outing for 11 months at Angers on February 9 - a big run is expected if he can keep rhythm this time. (13) VINCENT DES OBEAUX has been running with aplomb recently and can figure on the podium. (10) ASLY DE FLORANGE - who scored three times last year - also comes into

the equation.

Summary

(4) DINGUE DE ROCK won by a wide margin at Vire last time - when barefoot for the first time in nine months - and can double up here. Selections

(4) DINGUE DE ROCK - (7) DAUMESNIL - (9) DIABOLO - (10) DREAM

Dual course-winner (7) AVOCAT DES LOYAUX - fully unshod for the first time since July - and Pont-Chateau runner-up (2) BLACK JACK LA NUIT are capable of making their presence felt.

Selections

(5) BALLEDONIA - (7) AVOCAT DES LOYAUX - (2) BLACK JACK LA NUIT -
