Concert 1: THE SOLEM QUARTETThursday 3rd October 2019, 7.30pm

We welcome the return of the Solem Quartet after their superbconcert here in 2017. Winners of the 2014 Royal OverseasLeague Ensemble Competition, The Solem Quartet hasperformed extensively across the UK at venues such as theWigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and theEdinburgh Festival as well as performing internationally. Theyhave and performed on BBC Proms, broadcast live on Radio 3and work with the well-known Live Music Now project.

Programme: Mozart Piano Trio no. 5 in C Major, K 548;Saariaho Light and Matter;Mendelssohn Piano Trio no. 1 in D minor, op. 49.

Concert 2: GIUSEPPE GUERRERA (Piano)Thursday 7th November 2019, 7.30pm.GIUSEPPE GUARRERA (Piano)

Born in Sicily, Giuseppestudied in Italy and in Berlin,winning major awards. Hehas won internationalcompetitions and performedwidely as soloist with majororchestras in many countriesincluding Italy, Germany,Canada, UK, France and in2017 he premiered a newconcerto by Benjamin Attahirconducted by DanielBarenboim in Berlin.

Programme: JS Bach:Chaconne (Partita No. 2 in Dminor; Scriabin: Prelude andNocturne for the Left HandAlone; Scriabin: 8 Etudes;Ravel: 3 Pieces from Miroirs;Prokofiev: Sonata No.7 in Bflat, Op.83

Concert 3: IONEL MANCIU (Violin)& KAORU WADA (Piano)

Thursday 23rd January 2020, 7.30pm(Sponsored by The Countess of Munster Musical Trust)

Born in Moldova, Ionel made his official debut at the age of tenwith the Moldovan National Chamber Orchestra and later wonnumerous prizes at international competitions. He hasperformed at major venues in the U.K. and Europe and recentlyat Carnegie Hall in New York As part of the Mithras Piano Trio,he is the winner of the 67th Royal Over-Seas LeagueCompetition and other competitions.

Born in Japan, Kaoru Wada has a diverse career as a performerand teacher. She studied in Munich and at the Royal NorthernCollege, Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she wonall the accompanist prizes as well the accompanist prize at themost recent Bromsgrove International Music Competition.

Programme: Beethoven.-Violin Sonata nr.5 “Spring”; Gershwin-Frolov- “Porgy and Bess” Fantasy; Franck- Violin Sonata.

Concert 4: LINOS PIANO TRIOThursday 20th February 2020, 7. 30p

Winners of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Albert and EugenieFrost Prize for an outstanding ensemble in 2014 and First Prizeand Audience Prize winner of the Melbourne InternationalChamber Music Competition 2015, the Linos Piano Trio isincreasingly recognised as one of Europe's most creative anddynamic trios and it has received great acclaim both atprestigious venues worldwide and for its recordings.

Programme: Mozart: Piano Trio No. 5 in C major; Saariaho:Light & Matter; Mendelssohn: Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor.

Concert 5: EMMA HALNAN (Flute)& DANIEL KING SMITH (Piano)Thursday 12th March 2020, 7.30pmKindly supported by Making Music’s

Philip & Dorothy Green Young Artists scheme.

Emma is a winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year’sWoodwind Award. She has since performed concerti world-widewith major orchestras and has worked as Principal Flute with theEU Youth Orchestra and as Guest Principal with the BBCScottish Symphony Orchestra.

Daniel King Smith has given concerts all over the world as bothsoloist and accompanist. He has been broadcast on TV/Radioin the UK and abroad, has made several acclaimed CDs.

Concert 6: MAGNARD ENSEMBLE(Wind Quintet and Piano)

Thursday 2nd April 2020, 7. 30pm

The Magnard Ensemble has built a reputation for high-qualityconcerts and educational projects. The Ensemble is MakingMusic Selected Artists 2019-20, and has a forthcoming SnapeMaltings residency. Notable appearances include the WigmoreHall, Bridgewater Hall, Culture & Convention Centre Lucerne,and an ‘In Tune’ BBC Radio 3 broadcast.

Programme: Dvorak: Slavonic Dance in G minor; Mozart:Quintet in E flat major; Dvorak: Slavonic Dance in Db major;Roussel: Divertissement; Saint-Saens: Tarantelle; Poulenc:Sextuor.
