Dear Friends ConCo News Content Every anniversary is a special time. We have the opportunity to reflect. Here, at the X. Central European Scout Meet- ing, we can look back on the 9 other Jamborees, which have filled us with many great memories. Seeing the familiar faces, old friends, we all remember the good old memories. Every anniversary is a secure time. It closes the past and gives opportunity for something new. It brings change, so we can always keep going on the good path. Every anniversary lets us celebrate. This is especially true, because of the round numbers and the jubilee. An an- niversary is like a birthday, except it’s bigger and more important. The ConCordia will be focused on this jubilee: a reminder. It will be new for anyone, who never participated at an international event, because they can get to know new cultures and people. Every anniversary is a special time. We have the opportunity to reflect. Here, at the X. Central European Scout Meet-ing, we can look back on the 9 other Jamborees, which have filled us with many great memories.

An an-niversary is like a birthday, except it’s bigger and more important. The ConCordia will be focused on this jubilee: a reminder. It will be new for anyone, who never participated at an international event, because they can get to know new cultures and people. And for those, who’ve already been to such camps, they can freely experience the great feeling again, that an international scout camp gives.

Waste collectionBy recycling, 25-45% of your waste becomes reusable in an environment-friendly way. Transportation of unrecycled waste costs 1,5 times more than recycled waste. We’ve placed recycling bins in 4 locations and we collect unre-cycled waste in 15 places across the camp. We recycle glass, metal, plastic and paper. The camp is in an environ-mentaly protected area so please do not litter. In the sub-camps, participants collect their own trash. The sanitary workgroup will be responsible for waste collection and will warn participants who do not follow these guidelines.

WaterAt ConCordia we try to conserve as much water as possible. A water supply car brings water to the camp, and can only store a maximum of 40 m3 of water. The shower tanks will be filled 2 to 3 times a day, according to demands. There will be warm water in the mornings, supplied by electric boilers. Please mix hot and cold water, so that more scouts can shower with warm water. The shower time limit is 5 minutes. We will give time to shower, about 2 hours in the morning and in the evening. The show-ers will be cleaned daily.

Washing dishes, leftoversWe wash dishes in a 2 stage system, in subcamps. The first basin is for disinfection and washing, the second is for rinsing. The heating of the water must be solved onsite. Waste water will be collected by the logistic team. Leftovers will be collected in each subcamp by Logistics in a basin. Please turn toward the Logistics Team if you have any questions.

Mobile phone chargingOnly Staff, Contingent Leaders, and IST have the opportunity to charge their cell phones. Only a limited number of phones can be left to charge at the information point.

Many of us have been preparing for this camp for a long time. Dozens of organizers have been working for over one and a half years, so that when the camp finally begins, everything would go nice and smooth. And now, that it’s finally here, everyone’s to-gether at Adyliget.

Now all we have to do is keep building the camp, and of course the ConCordia feeling. :)

The goal: to make as many new friends as possible and to meet old friends. We’re all going to use every second of the ConCordia2010 to get lots of new experiences and friends. So get ready for ConCordia2010! :)

When did you arrive? On Monday, our train arrived to Budapest at 6:30. We left Szombathely at 3:30. We’ve been building ever since!

What was the goal of the precamp? Our main goal was creating the water and electric supply system and the social areas, for example the main gate, the shower tents and the Arena.

What have you prepared for the participants? We’ve reached our goals, all the main buildings are finished! The subcamp gates and bridges are the last things that need final touches. We had all the tools we needed, for that thanks to the Logistics team! The team worked much better than we expected!

Interview - Miki Móritz

Main Workgroups - FMCSVSabina’s notesShe is an IST from Romania and arrived to the campsite on the 29th of July.

They say Hungary doesn’t have any moun-tains or seas, but it surely has hills. If you choose bus number 157 to reach the camp, you’ll get to know them closely. How-ever, the plums and other fruits on the way make the walk much easier.

When I arrived to the camp there was only a handful of people, but they were already running around finding something to fix or to clean. In the evenings the guys would gather for a football match. I couldn’t understand much of what they were saying, but I guess the word goal is universal.

More people are coming in everyday, pitching their tents, finding their team and joining in on the prepara-tions. Despite our growing number, Mrs. Enci Néni - the cooking lady still man-ages to feed us, and I think we’d all like to thank her for that.
