Provides nondestructive inspection and evaluation of concrete structures. The cost associated with the repair of damaged embedded post-tension cables, utility conduits and key reinforcing steel makes this service an important part of today’s new construction and tenant improvement projects.

This real-time NDT technique quickly locates the position and depth of post tension cables, rebar and electrical/fiber optic conduits embedded in concrete.

Concrete Scanning

• Locating safe areas to core drill new holes for electrical and plumbing piping

• Locating safe areas to drill HVAC, mechanical and seismic anchors

• Locating safe areas to cut wall openings for doors and windows

• Locating structural beams: Slab on Grade • Slab thickness measurements for SOG

Why Would I Use Ground Penetrating Radar?

Page 2: Concrete Scanning About Us - Bess Test Lab Inc. · 2018. 1. 8. · Utility Locating Potholing BTL, uses non-destructive air-vacuum excavation (potholing), to expose the utilities

Utility Mapping

BTL utilizes state-of-the art electromagnetic pipe locators. We will designate and mark out utilities to ensure that, in the event of an excavation need, the utilities are protected and the excavation crew is kept safe.

Electromagnetic Pipe Locators

Video pipe inspection can provide you more detailed information on the internal condition of your underground facilities. BTL operates several CCTV units suitable for large storm drain pipes down to smaller diameter residential services.

GroundPenetrating Radar

The Ground Penetrating Radar, is one of the latest techniques utilized in the location of subsurface metallic and non-metallic objects. Location of underground facilities such as tanks, drums, utilities, graves, tunnels, rocks and voids can be mapped .

Utility Locating PotholingBTL, uses non-destructive air-vacuum excavation (potholing), to expose the utilities being surveyed to determine their exact depth and location. Precisely locating these underground utilities help the designers to plan their construction project to eliminate potential damage and unnecessary relocations.

•Slot trenching •Sign & pole installation •Digging for the installation of devices for cathodic protection •Mud removal •Remote digging •Water removal from catch basins, manholes, meter boxes & utility vaults •Excavation around tree roots •Rail road tie clean outs•Pond excavation •Elevator shaft cleanouts

Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) services can be included or added at any time to any project as part of our one stop shop approach. We have the capabilities of very simple data collection to complex 3D scanning to fit any needs or budget. CAD services not only provide a record of what was found during our utility investigation but also an accurate map of existing conditions that can be layered onto existing or future drawings.
