DEFINITION OF GREEN PRODUCTS

The term ‘green’ has nothing to do with colour, but the choice of the name is appropriate because green is a colour that is often associated with nature.

Green products are consider kinder to the environment than non-green goods in one way or another.

Green products cover a wide range of consumer goods.

We can also recycle the green products.

Products that are built with recycled materials or are more compact, more energy efficient and less wasteful of materials in general than their previous models are often labeled green.

4ADVANTAGES OF GREEN PRODUCTS

Green cleaning is beneficial to our planet and is great for safeguarding the health of the users of the cleaning products

Natural ingredients help significantly cut down on the amount of eye and skin irritation, and allergic reactions

When utilizing green cleaning products, there is no petroleum being used; this is beneficial for the future, since petroleum is a nonrenewable resource.

Green cleaning manufacturers are on the rise. Therefore, the availability of green cleaning products is increasing.

All of the chemicals that are in common cleaning products are disposed of by going down the drain; by the chemicals going down the drain, it impacts animals’ habitats and our drinking water.

The cost of using natural ingredients to create cleaning products is lower than buying regular, chemical-filled products, since the ingredients are mainly household items.

5DISADVANTAGES OF GREEN PRODUCTS

Just like any chemical-filled cleaning product, there are some natural ingredients that can cause allergic dermatitis, which is where the skin becomes red, sore, or inflamed.

Cleaning product manufacturers are not required to list all of the ingredients on the label, so there could be false ingredients, or lacking ingredients on the label.

Brands that are labeled with “eco” and “earth-friendly” have been studied. The studies show that roughly half of the one hundred products tested had dioxane, a cancer-causing chemical, used as an ingredient.

Buying commercial green cleaning products cost more than buying the normal, harmful products.

By utilizing green cleaning products, the user may not feel their house is as clean as it would be when using harmful products to clean because the green products to not smell as strongly.

When mixing homemade green cleaning products, be sure to follow the instructions; if directions are not followed, two things could mix together to create a poisonous gas that can destroy blood cells

ENVIRONMENT IMPACT

Going green can also potentially have a negative effect on the environment.

For instance the development of alternative fuels is an innovation in the green movement in an effort to reduce reliance on non renewable natural resources.

While this fuels are intended to reduce the toxic emission caused by the burning of the traditional gasoline, they may have unintentialy caused by opposite effect.

An environmental impact statement (EIS), under United States environmental law, is a document required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for certain actions "significantly affecting the quality of the human environment". An EIS is a tool for decision making.

However, tourism's relationship with the environment is complex. It involves many activities that can have adverse environmental effects

TYRES

You have heard a lot about tubeless tyres and if you are thinking to make investment, then read along this post might help you.

Tubeless tyres are preferable mostly by mountain bikers for their traction. These tyres are little thicker on the sidewalls so there are less chances of punctures.

But apart from that there are a lot of disadvantages associated with tubeless tyres.

Costly: The tubeless tyre system is much more costly than the conventional tube tyre system.

MOSQUITO COIL

A mosquito coil is a mosquito repelling incense, usually shaped into a spiral, and typically made from a dried paste of pyrethrum powder.

Mosquito coils can be hazardous. In 1999, summer camp in South Korea; 23 people, including 19 children, died in the blaze

one burning mosquito coil produces the same amount of particulate mass (diameter up to 2.5 μm) as 75-137 burning cigarettes would; and the emission of formaldehyde from one burning coil can be as high as that released from 51 burning cigarettes.

AVOID PLASTICS

1. Not always Cost Effective: Recycling is not always cost-effective. Sometimes, there may be a need to establish separate factories to process reusable products.

This may create more pollution in terms of cleaning, storage and transportation.

2. Recycled Products May not Last for Long: Recycled products are always not of durable quality. Such items are mostly made of trashed waste, picked up from heaps other waste products which are of fragile or overly used.

For this reason, recycled products are cheap and last for a shorter period.

10

ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS

E-waste means End of life electronic products like computers, printers, tvs, cellphone etc. It is a complex globalproblem.

Electronic products contain hazardous meterials which includes poisnous chemicals. For example lead, mercury.

It causes damage to the nervous system. Mercury is used in flat paneldisplay screens which contains neurotoxin.

The harmful metalis absorbed by the human body through contaminated drinking water.

11

RECYCLE PRODUCTS

Unsafe and Unhygienic Recycling Sites: Recycling sites are often unsafe and unhygienic. Places where all sorts of waste is dumped are conducive for debris formation and spread of disease and other dangers caused by harmful chemicals and waste.

This not only causes widespread pollution but is harmful for dedicated people who recycle such products. Such waste if mixed with water, leads to leachate formation and leads to toxication of water bodies including drinking water.

4. Not widespread on Large Scale: Although recycling is an important step to minimize pollution, unfortunately this process is just a small part of long-term success.

WOODEN PLATES

A flitch beam (or flitched beam) is a compound beam used in the construction of houses, decks, and other primarily wood-frame structures.

Typically, the flitch beam is made up of a steel plate sandwiched between two wood beams, the three layers being held together with bolts.

In that common form it is sometimes referenced as a steel flitch beam. Further alternating layers of wood and steel can be used to produce an even stronger beam. The metal plate(s) within the beam are known as flitch plates.
