4SYNOPSIS OF COURSES
1. Research Methods Course
GRU6014 Kaedah Penyelidikan Pendidikan (Research Methods in Education)
This course strengthens students’ knowledge on various aspects of the research
process in education such as identifying research topic and scope; aim of research;
formulating research questions; scientific theory, model and hypothesis; literature
review; various methods of gathering data; analyzing and making inference from
data; writing the research report and ethics in research.
BIR6014 Quantitative Research Methods in Language Teaching
This course introduces quantitative research methods in the area of language
teaching and educational research in general. It elaborates the definitions, concepts
and the characteristics of popular quantitative research methods in education. It
will also guide students through the related steps of collecting quantitative data,
selecting and utilizing appropriate statistical procedures for the purpose of analyzing
and interpreting data.
BIR6024 Qualitative Research Methods and Approaches
The course exposes students to the techniques for collecting, analyzing and
interpreting qualitative data. The course will operate on two inter-related dimensions,
one focused on the theoretical approaches to various types of qualitative research
methods, the other focused on the practical techniques of data collection as in
identifying research participants, collecting field notes, analyzing data, writing and
presenting findings.
2. Educational Course
BIP6014 Methods and Materials for ESL Teaching
In this course, issues pertaining to English language teaching and learning, and
materials development are discussed. Theoretical perspectives are critically viewed
in the context of current teaching and learning practices.
BIP6024 Assessing Language Competence

discussed based on research findings. The discussion also takes into consideration
the qualitative and quantitative approaches of assessment in language teaching.
BIS 6014 Issues in Teaching and Learning of Literature
This course discusses issues related to the curriculum, methodology and current
technologies in the teaching and learning of literature.
3. Specialisation Course
BIL6014 Grammar of English
In this course students discuss English grammar in terms of form, meaning and
use. This involves an analysis of the syntactical structures of English and examining
them in relation to their semantic contribution and issues of use and context in
communication.
BIL6024 Issues in Applied Linguistics
This course provides an overview of applied linguistics and issues pertaining to the
field. Key concepts and issues in applied linguistics are discussed in the application of
linguistics to language learning and teaching.
BIL6034 New Englishes
The course introduces varieties of English that have made up English-speaking
communities over time. Different ways in which the English language functions in
society are discussed.
BIL6054 Discourse Analysis
This course includes definitions of key concepts and several approaches in the
analysis of discourse. The meanings of linguistic resources as used in oral and written
texts from various genres are discussed.
BIL6064 Psycholinguistics and Language Acquisition
The course entails an understanding of a discipline involving linguistics and
psychology. It investigates and describes the mental processes involved in the
acquisition, production and comprehension of language. An understanding of the
philosophy of language provides meaning to the use and acquisition of language. Fac

6BIL6074 Sociolinguistics in Language Education
This course discusses issues pertaining to the relationship between language
and society, specifically in the manner in which social and political contexts affect
attitudes toward particular languages and language varieties.
4. Elective Course
BIL6044 Issues in Bilingual and Multicultural Education
This course discusses current issues based on research in bilingual and multicultural
education. Insights from the discussions are applied in the ESL context.
BIP6034 ESL Course and Syllabus Design
This course provides a survey and analysis of English as a second language (ESL)
course and syllabus design. Theoretical and practical issues related to the selection of
content and the development of corresponding instructional materials are discussed.
BIP6044 Multimedia in English Language Teaching
This course emphasizes the multimedia theories, approaches and various skills in
multimedia applications that can be used in English language teaching.

(Current Developments in Teaching Language)
This course discusses theories, concepts, models and current good practices in
language teaching and learning, and its infusion in improving teaching and learning
in Malay language.
BMP6034 Penaksiran Hasil Pembelajaran Bahasa Melayu
(Malay Language Learning Outcomes Assessment)
This course focuses on learning outcomes assessment in Malay Language subject.
Focus is given to various methods which are valid and reliable. Development of
measurement tools is based on the outcomes of the latest Malay Language syllabus.
3. Specialisation Course
BML6014 Psikolinguistik dalam Pengajaran Bahasa Melayu
(Psycholinguistics in Malay Language Teaching)
This course discusses the general introduction to psycholinguistic. The methodology
of human perception and their understanding toward speech act, grammar elements
and discourses are discussed. The discussion revolves around the process of first
language acquisition, language teaching, Genie’s concept, including the aspect of
language and thought. This course also discusses all the theories in psycholinguistic,
including behaviourism, cognitive thinking and Language Acquisition Device.
Psycholinguistic issues and the implications in teaching are also included in discussion.
Human perception in Malay also involves psycholinguistic aspect as a whole.
BML6024 Berfikir dan Berkomunikasi
(Thinking and Communication)
This course focuses on theories and techniques of interpersonal communication
and thinking skills. Emphasis is on acquiring thinking tools, logic and fallacies, and
scientific thinking.
BML6034 Perbandingan Tatatabahasa Bahasa Melayu
(Comparative of Malay Grammar)
This course discusses grammar theories and their influences on Malay grammar.
Similarities and differences of the Malay grammar written by renowned Malay

This course focuses on the mastery of knowledge and communication skills. Various
discourse models and approaches, rhetoric and aesthetics are emphasized.

This course discusses various concepts and theories on pragmatics and language
community practices. Focus is on research related to pragmatic issues.

This course provides knowledge on concepts and methods of effective Malay
literature teaching based on various strategies and innovation. Lectures emphasize
the use of computer technology applications and media in teaching and learning.
BSP6034 Isu-isu dalam Pendidikan Kesusasteraan Melayu
(Issues in Malay Literature Education)
This course encompasses critical thinking and debating skills in evaluating issues
related to Malay literature education. Focus is given on three major areas of Malay
literature education that are curriculum, teaching and educational research of Malay
literature.

(Creative Writing in Education of Malay Literature)
This course provides the theoretical, technical and practical skills in creative writing
for education in Malay literature. This course focuses on writing and publications of

This course discusses and analyses issues that affected domestic and international
primary education. Contemporary issues, trends and pedagogical aspects of primary
education will be discussed and analyzed. Practical and theoretical implications of
the issues will be analyzed and evaluated with special considerations for the well

This course will compare and contrast several approaches to philosophy in relation
to solving problems pertaining to education. The understanding about philosophy
will be applied in addressing questions pertaining to values, meaning and truth in the
context of education. In addition, this course will also enable the course participants
to articulate philosophies of education in the context of work situations.

This course discusses curriculum management, responsibilities in managing

This course aims at enabling students to do curriculum evaluation by using models of
curriculum evaluation. Students will explore the concept of “curriculum evaluation”.
This will encompass ideologies, concepts, prosedur of data collection, analysis and
the writing of evaluation reports. It will also include discussion on the role of ethics in

A conceptual overview of theories, issues and recent practice in evaluation. An
inductive/case study approach will be used in which recent evaluation practice will
be analysed using frameworks developed by the lecturers. Topics covered include:
conflicting views on its nature and purposes; alternatives purposes (summative,
formative, illuminative); forms and approaches adopted by external and internal
evaluators; evaluation and performance auditing; responsive evaluation; links
between evaluation, decision-making and action; planning evaluations; reporting
evaluation findings; evaluation ethics and standards; and a critical appraisal of
selected Malaysian evaluation studies.

This course aims to provide students with different authentic assessment tool
necessary to enhance their teaching and assessment practices as well as students’
learning in the day-to-day classroom setting. It will address strategies to assess deep
understanding, higher order thinking skills, real-world problem solving, and other
high authentic intellectual quality so that these important skills can be incorporated
into the classroom teaching and learning. Theoretical discussions and hands-on
activities that enhance understanding of various types of authentic assessments,
assessment tasks design, lesson plans, rubrics development, and the alignment

This course covers the discussion and analysis of intellectual, practical and moral
dimensions of learning to teach. There will also be discussion and critical analysis
of conceptual frameworks for teaching, different phases in the process of learning
to teach, and also the construction of pedagogical content knowledge. Pedagogical
reasoning of teachers, formal and informal influences on teachers in terms of
knowledge, skills and attitude will also be discussed. Teacher education in Malaysia
will also be analyzed from various aspects.

This course will analyze the major theories related to the structure of knowledge,
learning-teaching and the teacher; their application to the classroom. Among the

This course is designed to evaluate research findings and reports in the field of
instructional design and technology, including the five domains of instructional
technology namely-design, development, utilization, management and evaluation
of resources and learning. The course also identifies similarities and differences, new
trends and current issues of the domains based on research methods, instruments,
analysis and findings of the study.

PAF6014 Perakaunan Kewangan (Financial Accounting)
This course focus on how companies actually do their financial reporting as prescribed
by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and discusses in more depth
how companies calculate the lease liability number that appears on their balance
sheet and strategies that companies use to avoid showing a lease liability on their
balance sheets.
PAM6014 Perakaunan Pengurusan (Management Accounting)
This course focuses on the provision and use of management accounting information
for planning, controlling and decision making. Emphasis is placed on the concepts
and procedures of product costing, the tools of managerial accounting as well
as other strategies. This includes the analysis of cost behaviour, the principles of
traditional costing systems and the application of activity based costing. This course
also highlights the process of budgeting (operational and financial) as an aid to
management planning and controlling business activities as well as other facets of
management accounting that support decision making process such as balanced
scorecard and inventory management.
PAF6044 Analisis Penyata Kewangan (Financial Statement Analysis)
This course focuses on the various techniques in analyzing financial statements. This
includes evaluation of current assets, current liabilities, non-current assets, long-
term liabilities, revenues and expenses. The emphasis is on students’ understanding
of items in income statements and balance sheets and its relationships with firm’s
performance. Students also conduct comprehensive analysis of firm’s performance
using the various techniques studied.

This course focuses on the perspective and discusses the topics in areas of corporate
governance, The Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX), issues of board of directors and audit
committee protocol. There is also heavy emphasis on the business communication
process, written and verbal necessary to describe the issues relating to corporate

Emphasis is given on the methodology and practical applications of auditing
techniques and the professional standards that bear on audit performance and

This course discusses on the theory, concept, principles and method in the application
of Malaysian taxation. It also focuses on the issue and the tax policy framework. The
discussion of the course content refers to the Malaysia taxation practices as in Income
Tax Act 1967, Company Act 1965 and Partnership Act 1961. This course also emphasis
on the discussion of the issues relating to the taxation area in Malaysia.

This course focuses on educational policy reforms in Malaysia from the pre-

This course aims at enabling students to do curriculum evaluation by using models of
curriculum evaluation. Students will explore the concept of “curriculum evaluation”.

carrying curriculum evaluation.

This course strengthens students’ knowledge on various aspects of the research
process in education such as identifying research topic and scope; aim of research;
formulating research questions; scientific theory, model and hypothesis; literature
review; various methods of gathering data; analyzing and making inference from
data; writing the research report and ethics in research.
KFP6014 Kaedah Tinjauan (Survey Method)
Main topics of the course: research types and methods; formulating research
questions; rationale for choosing survey research method in conducting educational
research; characteristics of survey method; constructing suitable item for
questionnaire; administering the questionnaire for data collection; analysing data
through statistical analysis using SPSS; and writing the research report based on the
outcome of a research project. This course will be conducted based on a research
project.
KFP6024 Inkuiri Naturalistik (Naturalistic Inquiry)
This course covers the basic principles of alternative research, types of method for data
collection, aspects in the interpretation of a cultural phenomenon, communicating
with respondents, data collection, analysis and making meaning out of data, and
preparation of research report.

This course introduces students to various aspects of experimental research such as

early childhood education such as contemporary issues, trends and pedagogical

(Teaching of Early Childhood Reading)
The main topics of the course are: theories of teaching early reading; needs and levels
of young learners (ages 4 – 7).; the phonic method, whole language approach and
integrated phonic-word method (KGBK).; preparing teaching and learning materials;
use of diagnostic tests; remedial teaching of reading and writing.
KPP6014 Psikologi Perkembangan (Developmental Psychology)
This course focuses on the understanding and development of a child from prenatal
to geriatric stages of life. Topics include the understanding of basic concepts of
children; developmental psychology of adolescent; basic principles of growth and

This course covers the discussion and analysis of intellectual, practical and moral
dimensions of learning to teach. There will also be discussion and critical analysis
of conceptual framework for teaching, different phases in the process of learning
to teach, and also the construction of pedagogical content knowledge. Pedagogical
reasoning of teachers, formal and informal influences on teachers in terms of
knowledge, skills and attitude will also be discussed. Teacher education in Malaysia
will also be analyzed from various aspects.
KPD6034 Pengajaran Kemahiran Berfikir (Teaching Thinking Skills)
This course covers the discussion and analysis of cognitive, multiple intelligences,
successful intelligence, and constructivist theories and the learning process. This
course also covers the analysis of various research activities related to teaching
thinking and their implications on teaching and learning. Participants would also be
able to analyze and evaluate the use of an alternative taxonomy, several techniques
and techniques to teach thinking skills through the teaching of subject matter
content. There will also be an analysis of assessment of the acquisition of thinking
skills by students. Initiatives taken to teach thinking skills to students in schools and
institutions of higher-learning in Malaysia will also be analyzed and evaluated.

This course focusses on the major theories and approaches of emotional and
behavioral abnormalities including the classification of abnormalities and its related
problems of intellect, emotional and social development. It also focusses on the
relationships of abnormal behaviour and stress; aspects of psycho-physiological;
delinquency; drug abuse in schools; disciplinary problems such as aggressiveness,
bully, and child abuse; psychoneurosis experienced by children and adolescents.

This course strengthens students’ knowledge on various aspects of the research
process in education such as identifying research topic and scope; aim of research;
formulating research questions; scientific theory, model and hypothesis; literature
review; various methods of gathering data; analyzing and making inference from
data; writing the research report and ethics in research.

Main topics of the course: research types and methods; formulating research
questions; rationale for choosing survey research method in conducting educational
research; characteristics of survey method; constructing suitable item for
questionnaire; administering the questionnaire for data collection; analysing data
through statistical analysis using SPSS; and writing the research report based on the
outcome of a research project. This course will be conducted based on a research
project.

76KFP6034 Kaedah Eksperimental (Experimental Methods)
This course introduces students to various aspects of experimental research such as
experimental design, random assignment, controlling extraneous variables, blocking,
determining sample size based on statistical test, testing hypothesis, and ANOVA,
ANCOVA, MANOVA and multiple-regression techniques in analysing data collected
through experimental designs.
2. Educational Course
KPT6014 Kemahiran Teknologi Instruksional (Instructional Technology Skills)
This module will facilitate skills associated with using computers to change classroom
cultures in an effort to make instructional experiences more purposely and meaning.
The role computers play within creation, reference, simulation, situation exploration,
tutorial, drill-and-practice, communication, and “real” contexts will be explored. In
addition, strategies for effectively integrating minimal computer resources (such
as a single computer) within a self-contained classroom will be discussed. Product:
Students will generate a grant proposal describing a plan for integrating computer-
based technology into an existing classroom environment in an effort to improve the
learning of specific technology objectives.
KPD6034 Pengajaran Kemahiran Berfikir (Teaching Thinking Skills)
This course covers the discussion and analysis of cognitive, multiple intelligences,
successful intelligence, and constructivist theories and the learning process. This
course also covers the analysis of various research activities related to teaching
thinking and their implications on teaching and learning. Participants would also be
able to analyze and evaluate the use of an alternative taxonomy, several techniques
and techniques to teach thinking skills through the teaching of subject matter
content. There will also be an analysis of assessment of the acquisition of thinking
skills by students. Initiatives taken to teach thinking skills to students in schools and
institutions of higher-learning in Malaysia will also be analyzed and evaluated.

This course focuses on learning and cognition theories which are related to
behavioural, social cognition, humanism and constructivism. Other topics explored

This course will analyze the major theories related to the structure of knowledge,

generic models to be discussed are models by Tyler, Schulman, Bloom, Gagne, Dick &
Carey, mastery teaching and cooperative learning. Discussion of this model will be on
the teaching of subjects in classrooms.
3. Specialisation Course

(Development of Instructional Design and Technology)
This course focuses on the processes of designing and developing instructional
materials including needs assessment, learner and context analysis, task analysis,
writing instructional or performance objectives, developing instructional strategies
and materials, developing evaluation instruments, revising instructional programs,
and planning for implementation.
KPT6034 Pengurusan Sumber Instruksional Berasaskan Elektronik
(Electronic-Based Instructional Resources Management)
This course discusses the concepts and philosophies of educational electronic
resource and media programs. Topics include roles of a school media and resource
coordinator as a teacher, an information provider, an instructional designer and
a resource manager. At the end of the course, students are expected to plan and
develop an educational electronic media program for an educational institution or a
training program.
KPT6044 Pembelajaran Berasaskan Electronik dan Web
(Electronic and Web-Based Learning)
This course discusses and analyses current issues of electronic and web-based
learning technologies with focus on: impact of online learning theories on learning,
application of instructional design and technology, development and integration

A conceptual overview of theories, issues and recent practice in evaluation. An
inductive/case study approach will be used in which recent evaluation practice will
be analysed using frameworks developed by the lecturers. Topics covered include:
conflicting views on its nature and purposes; alternative purposes (summative,
formative, illuminative); forms and approaches adopted by external and internal
evaluators; evaluation and performance auditing; responsive evaluation; links
between evaluation, decision-making and action; planning evaluations; reporting
evaluation findings; evaluation ethics and standards; and a critical appraisal of
selected Malaysian evaluation studies.

82KPN6074 Pentaksiran Autentik (Authentic Assessment)
This course aims to provide students with different authentic assessment tools
necessary to enhance their teaching and assessment practices as well as students’
learning in the day-to- day classroom setting. It will address strategies to assess deep
understanding, higher order thinking skills, real-world problem solving, and other
high authentic intellectual quality so that these important skills can be incorporated
into the classroom teaching and learning. Theoretical discussions and hands-on
activities that enhance understanding of various types of authentic assessments,
assessment task design, lesson plans, rubrics development, and the alignment
between assessment, curriculum, and pedagogy will be included. Toward the end of
the course, students are expected to develop one type of the alternative assessments
in a complete unit lesson plan to enhance their students’ learning, communicate the
assessment results with students and parents, defend their own assessment practices,
and create change about the community’s views toward authentic assessment.

Main topics of the course: research types and methods; formulating research
questions; rationale for choosing survey research method in conducting educational
research; characteristics of survey method; constructing suitable item for
questionnaire; administering the questionnaire for data collection; analysing data
through statistical analysis using SPSS; and writing the research report based on the
outcome of a research project. This course will be conducted based on a research

This course will analyze the major theories related to the structure of knowledge,
learning-teaching and the teacher; their application to the classroom. Among the
generic models to be discussed are models by Tyler, Schulman, Bloom, Gagne, Dick &
Carey, mastery teaching and cooperative learning. Discussion of this model will be on
the teaching of subjects in classrooms.

(Testing and Assessment in Primary Schools)
This course introduces students to the activities of testing and assessment in primary
schools include the formative and summative testing, diagnostic tests and the
construction of the test questions. This course will help students identify the current
forms of testing conducted in primary schools in Malaysia and Singapore or Indonesia.
This course also introduces students to develop a test that measures efficiency based
on skills-based teaching model in accordance with school curriculum. In addition,
students are also guided to analyze the implications and applications of testing and
assessment through a systematic evaluation.

This course discusses issues related to the curriculum, methodology, and current

learning, issues of validity (authenticity and reliability) and how it will improve biology

SBB6014 Biodiversity and Conservation Biology
The course incorporates an interdisciplinary approach to the study of biodiversity,
current issues, and conservation. The species, habitats and biodiversity are explored.
The key threatening processes to biodiversity conservation are examined, with a
focus on Malaysian ecosystems whenever feasible, and the processes and theories
regarding the extinction of animals and plants are examined. The impact of humans
on the Earth’s biodiversity and current issues in the conservation of biodiversity is
also examined, in both global and regional settings. The scientific basis of species and

This course examines physiology at levels of organisms and behavior, organ systems
and cells in an evolutionary and integrative perspective. Organism’s physiology such
as metabolism, temperature, locomotion, osmoregulation, respiration, circulation
and digestion are studied. The physiology of membrane transport, nervous signaling,
sensory systems, behavioral modulation, muscle, neuronal and endocrine integration
and circadian rhythms are also discussed with emphasis on the cellular and tissue
level. Students are trained in designing experiments and exposed to various

This course focuses on molecular biology and its application, which include cellular

and constructing chemistry assessment instruments that incorporates aspects such
as promoting learning, issues of validity (authenticity and reliability) and how it will

how ICT can be used in mathematics classroom, the course seeks to deepen students’

This course deals with various aspects of physics experiments involving data and error
analysis, measurement of physics quantities, sensors, development of conventional
approach, computer-based and open-source physics or demonstration kits.
SFF6034 Computer Interfacing in Physics
This course deals with computer programming design and to carry out time critical
tasks. This course also involves the sensing of physics quantities, display and analyse
data and perform control tasks.
SFF6044 Physics in the Twentieth Century
The nineteenth century witnessed extraordinary advances in human understanding
of the physical world but many questions remained unanswered. This course will
first summarize two major outcomes of nineteenth–century’s physics namely: (1)
Maxwell’s remarkable synthesis of electricity, magnetism and optics to establish
the existence of electromagnetic waves and (2) a growing appreciation that many
macroscopic phenomena could only be explained by a detailed model of how the
microscopic constituents of matter behaved. It will frame some of the questions that
were still challenging physics as the twentieth century opened. The discussion in this
course will also include the following topic such as the Unanswered Questions of the
twentieth century, relativity, inroads into the micro – universe of atoms probes and
emissions, and the concepts of quantization and the nucleus and energy technologies.

SYNOPSIS OF COURSES
1. Research Methods Course
GRU6014 Kaedah Penyelidikan Pendidikan (Research Methods in Education)
This course strengthens students’ knowledge on various aspects of the research
process in education such as identifying research topic and scope; aim of research;
formulating research questions; scientific theory, model and hypothesis; literature
review; various methods of gathering data; analyzing and making inference from
data; writing the research report and ethics in research.
QSS6024 Rekabentuk Eksperimen dalam Sains Sukan
(Experimental Design in Sport Science)
This course introduces students to various aspects of experimental research in Sport
Science such as steps in experimental research; threats to validity; experimental
design, random assignment, controlling extraneous variables, blocking, determining
sample size based on statistical test, testing hypothesis, and t-Test, ONE WAY ANOVA;
ANOVA, ANCOVA, MANOVA, Correlation and multiple-regression techniques in
analyzing data collected through experimental designs in Sport Science.
QSS6034 Kaedah Tinjauan dalam Sains Sukan
(Survey Method in Sport Science)
Main topics of the course: research types and methods; formulating research
questions; rationale for choosing survey research method in conducting educational

149research; characteristics of survey method; constructing suitable item for
questionnaire; administering the questionnaire for data collection; analysing data
through statistical analysis using SPSS; and writing the research report based on the
outcome of a research project. This course will be conducted based on a research
project in Sport Science.
2. Educational Course
QSE6014 Reka Bentuk Kurikulum Pendidikan Sains Sukan
(Curriculum Design of Sport Science Education)
This course discusses the knowledge of curriculum education in sport science
and physical education field which comprises of the dimension and curriculum
instructional models. Students need to explore, design and implementing sport
science and physical education curriculum based on theories and principles of
curriculum design. Various curriculum evaluation models in sport science and physical
education programmes were also introduced to the students in this course.
QSE6024 Pengujian dalam Sains Sukan (Testing in Sport Science)
Applications of the concepts, theories and principles of testing, measurement and
evaluation in Sport Science/Physical Education; theories related to validity, reliability
and objectivity and their application in testing, measurement and assessment;
analyses of the contribution of TME toward academic accountability; analyses of the
application of TME for evaluation in school/IPT; development of theoretical/practical
tests; procedures for test administration; application and analyses of self-made tests
in school/IPT and issues & problems related to testing, measurement and evaluations
in Sport Science/Physical Education in Malaysia.
QSE6034 Teknologi dan Inovasi dalam Sains Sukan
(Technology and Innovation in Sport Science)
This course provides research and ‘hands-on’ training in the concepts, methods,
techniques, innovations, technology and the practices of the dynamics of problem
solving sport science; various case studies in problem solving in sport science;
identification of the problem; discovering the dynamics of solving the problem;
the strategy for solving the problem; the applications toward innovations and
the applications of technology in the real sport science scenario in Malaysia and

150QSE6044 Pentaksiran Kurikulum Sains Sukan
(Assessment of Sport Science Curriculum)
This course discusses the methods of standard quality assessment in sport science and
physical education curriculum mainly on students learning achievement at schools.
The course content consists of definition and concepts of assessment, models,
techniques, instruments, and school based assessment methods in sport science and
physical education curriculum. This course focuses on alternative assessment in sport
science and physical education programmes.
3. Specialisation Course
QSU6014 The Physiology of Physical Activity
This course is designed to provide the student with an advanced understanding of
acute and chronic responses to exercise. Particular attention will be placed upon a
good understanding of muscle bioenergetics, cardiopulmonary and musculoskeletal
responses to physical exercise. Group discussions and presentations will be part of
the learning process besides regular lectures and reading-conference approach.
QSU6024 Kompetensi Kejurulatihan (Coaching Competency)
This course strengthens students’ knowledge on various aspects sports coaching
such as identifying type of sports; aim of coaching; formulating a coaching module;
scientific model in training and game analyzing and making inference from data;
writing the research report and ethics in coaching research.
QSU6034 Psikologi Sukan Gunaan (Applied Sport Psychology)
This course focuses on applied Psychological Skills Training in sports such as Breathing
Control. Progressive Muscular Relaxation; Goal Setting; Imagery; Visualization; Self
Talk; Meditation and Stress Management towards peak performance.
QSU6044 Perkembangan dan Pembelajaran Motor
(Motor Development and Learning)
This course discusses the discipline of motor behaviour which comprise of the
application of motor control theories, skill acquisition, application of motor learning
theories to the development and improvement of sports; critical and creative analysis
of psychology of motor learning theories.

151QSU6054 Analisis Kualitatif Pergerakan Manusia
(Qualitative Analysis of Human Movement)
The course examines the scientific aspects of motion based on biological
functions and mechanical principles in the study of basic human movement
as well as sports performance. The application of basic qualitative analyses of
human movement is also incorporated practically by the students utilizing a four-
task model of qualitative analysis and ICT towards developing an understanding
and appreciation of human movement in health, physical activities and sports.
4. Elective Course
QSU6064 Pemakanan dan Sistem Tenaga (Nutrition and Energy System)
This course will focus on the metabolism of nutrients and the adaptations that
occur in response to repeated bouts of exercise. In addition, the effect of exercise
on nutritional requirements and the effects of diet on exercise performance will be
examined. The course will investigate the energetics of muscle activity, the sources of
energy available to muscle, the metabolism of carbohydrates, protein and lipids, the
control and integration of the metabolic response to exercise and the biochemical
mechanisms involved in the fatigue process.
QSU6074 Psikososial Sukan dan Aktiviti Fizikal
(Psychosocial Sport and Physical Activity)
This course introduces students to understand, acquired and implements the
psychology and sociology theories into sport context in order to develop the sports
and also to prepare the students to become a competent sport teacher or coach to
produce excellent athletes.
QSU6084 Gaya Hidup Sihat Lanjutan (Extension of Healthy Lifestyle)
This course enables the students to enhance their knowledge and enrich their
experiences on health related concepts so as to appreciate healthy lifestyles. This
course also provides knowledge on problems and factors that relates to unhealthy
lifestyle and enables students to prepare a wellness program based on health related
causes.

152QSU6094 Pencegahan Kecederaan dan Rehabilitasi Sukan
(Prevention and Rehabilitation of Sport Injury)
The course will expose students with the understanding of theories, principles,
techniques and practices regarding sports injuries prevention scientifically. Various
therapeutic exercises for injuries rehabilitation are discussed to ensure students’
ability to plan and choose appropriate therapeutic exercises for functional progression
program in sports rehabilitation process.
5. Project

This course requires students to carry out a project which is relevant to the area of
specialization including the preparation of a research report in not more than two (2)
semesters.
