To start off I scanned in my flatplan and dragged it into photoshop. I did this so that I was able to roughly line up my work with my plans and it gave me a guide for what I need to add.

I then added a graphic and my masthead. I added my masthead to create a link between the contents page and the front cover allowing the consumer to immediately recognise that the pages are related and in the same magazine.

Following this I added in the main image of an artist in. The artist looks strong which goes with the attack of the girls theme this issue surrounds.

I then typed up my editors note on notepad and pasted it straight into photoshop. I used existing Kerrang! magazine’s editor notes to inspire mine and shape the main message of my text.

After I had inserted the text I then needed to rearrange it. To do this is duplicated the layer and split the text into two. After I had created the two chunks of text I went on to line them up using the grid to get them into exact alignment.

I manipulated the photo by changing the levels of lighting making the picture brighter and nicer to look at.

To touch up the photo I used the blemish remover tool to remove spots and even out bumpy skin.

As at the bottom of many editors notes there is an autograph, I decided that I also wanted one. To make it look as authentic as possible I wrote it out on paper and then scanned it into the computer.

The next decision that I made was to change the colour of the graphic. I did this to better fit my colour scheme. I also added headings with graphics, the ‘issue number’ and ‘cover date’ to make it look more realistic.

I then went on to list the articles that are due to be featured. Along with this I also changed the font of the word ‘contents’ to match the masthead. The one I previously had just didn’t look right so it had to go.

I then added a photo of the magazine editor to make my contents page seem more realistic.
