All Quantum I/O modulesare addressed and“mapped” with Concept orModsoft software, allow-ing any module to be in-stalled in any slot regard-less of module type. Allconfiguration parametersfor each I/O module arealso included in the I/OMap configuration screen.This eliminates the needfor manual setup switchesor special ladder logicto configure and readmodules.

Once configured, soft-ware in the system candetect if a module is miss-ing or broken and flag itwithin the controller.LED’s on each modulealso aid in troubleshoot-ing. Optional mechanicalkeying between the mod-ule and terminal stripensures that field wiringand modules are correctlymatched.

The Quantum ASCIImodule is a generalpurpose ASCII interfacethat provides the abilityto communicate and ex-change data with devicesincluding printers, barcode readers and scan-ners, weigh scales, andmeters. This module isdesigned for relativelysimple point to pointASCII communications,with ASCII messagesstored inside the moduletriggered by logic withinthe Quantum controller.
