Frans Passes to Life He spent nearly fifty years at the service of his Syrian children of different denominations and religions, and was finally martyred, after defending till the last breath his people in the city of Homs. He is the Dutch Fr. Frans Van Der Lugt who expressed in a reflection before his martyrdom his deep faith in the Divine Providence, con- firming to the Christians in old Homs that God never leaves the faithful and goodness shall remain deep-rooted in their hearts. In his last Easter message before his departure, Fr. Frans described this feast as the passage from death to life; life is manifested from a dark hole and the people who are in a black spot see a great light, wishing this Resur- rection to Syria. Patriarch Delli to the Kingdom of God! Tele Lumiere said farewell with the Chaldean Church and the entire world for the man of bold and courageous stances Cardinal Emmanuel III Delli, Patriarch of the Chal- deans from 2003 till 2012, at the age of eighty-seventh. The channel’s admini- stration has sent a telegraph pre- senting condolences to Patriarch Louis Raphael I Sako, the clergy of the Chaldean Church and all faithful in Iraq and the world of immigration, stating: In the ab- sence of the honorable Patriarch Emmanuel Delly, the Orient misses a radiant face who took upon himself the concerns of the people of God and of His Chaldean church everywhere. His Beati- tude was the apostle of love and peace in the land of civilizations that has always yearned for peace, and made major efforts with the loyal leaders, religious or secular, to build a homeland where its citizens live with dignity, and a Church in which members witness to the reality of God and the values of the Gospel. We are comforted that the journey of the Chal- dean Church is in good hands and protected by a loving heart and a wise mind, and that the late Patriarch is its new intercessor in the Kingdom of God."
