www.westsylvaniajazzandblues.org 1 corporate sponsorships 2016 For the past two years, the Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz & Blues Festival has brought jazz and blues musicians from across the nation (and across the Atlantic) to Indiana for a one-day, outdoor, free festival. Those stars have been joined by regionally known and student musicians to create a festival unlike any other. One that brings together the best jazz and blues from near and far to an American small-town setting. And each year, over 1,200 people from across Western Pennsylvania—the Westsylvania region—have come to downtown Indiana, Pennsylvania to listen, dine, and shop. For our third event, on May 28, 2016, we aim to build our best festival yet. Bigger acts. Bigger crowds. Same classic small-town setting. We invite you to be a part of it by becoming a festival sponsor.

corporate sponsorships 2016 For the past two years, the Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz & Blues Festival has brought jazz and blues musicians from across the nation (and across the Atlantic) to Indiana for a one-day, outdoor, free festival.

We invite you to be a part of it by becoming a festival sponsor.

music Our headline acts were top-flight musicians with international recognition.

§   The New Mastersounds, of Leeds, U.K., brought their high-energy blend of jazz, R&B, soul, blues, and funk to the Westsylvania stage. Their knockout set inspired dancing in the streets of Indiana.

§   Pittsburgh-based Elevations, joined by Baltimore-born multi-instrumentalist Warren Wolf, gave a virtuoso performance that showed why these young musicians are the “go-to guys” for artists ranging from Mulgrew Miller, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Ron Carter to Sean Jones, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spaulding, and many others.

These headliners were joined by local and regional acts from throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania. After the festival closed, late-night acts at local restaurants kept the festival going past midnight.

attendance Hourly counts during the festival showed an attendance of over 1,200 over 11 hours. Attendees came from throughout the region, including Pittsburgh.

regional partnerships Originally dreamed up by the members of local jazz quintet Dad Band, the festival could not have taken place without support from our partners. The festival is now presented in full partnership with the Indiana Arts Council. The Indiana County Tourist Bureau provided help promoting the event regionally. And the Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival, a project of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, provided marketing support and presented one of our headline acts: Elevations featuring Warren Wolf. Support was also provided by Downtown Indiana, the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council.

the 2016 festival For our third year, we aim to maintain the quality of music while increasing attendance and expanding our regional ties.

world-class music Our first two festivals set the bar high. We will again work with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s JazzLive International Festival to locate up-and-coming jazz talent. And through increased sponsorships, we hope to match that talent with a name blues act.

increased attendance With the aid of our new media sponsor, WESA/WYEP to increase attendance by 25% to over 1,500 over the course of 11 hours.

enhanced educational outreach We will be reaching out to additional high schools throughout the region, and seeking funding to provide master classes or clinics with one or more of our musical artists.

enhanced regional partnerships We have a great set of partners for the festival, including the Indiana County Tourist Bureau, Downtown Indiana, the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council. We also seek new partners across the region. Indiana’s central location in the culturally and scenically rich Westsylvania region provides opportunities to highlight the inviting attractions, towns, and landscapes that visitors pass going to and from the festival—making this celebration truly regional.

media sponsor We are pleased to welcome 90.5 WESA and 91.3 WYEP as official media sponsors for the festival. Two of the few Pittsburgh stations that play jazz and blues music, they will be promoting the festival on the air and to their members in May.

sponsors and patrons We continue to expand our base of corporate sponsors and individual patrons.

corporate sponsorship levels Jazz and blues fans are a desirable demographic. Research conducted for the Pittsburgh International JazzLive Festival showed that attendees their festival were:

•   Between 35 and 50 years old •   Income $75,000 or more •   66% with a college degree or higher

Out-of-town visitors accounted for 18% of attendees in Pittsburgh. These visitors spent an average of $300 during the festival (on top of their hotel and travel). We expect the demographic for the Westsylvania Festival to be similar.
