Cilla black presented Blind Date mainly during the 90's. Since we are showing this scene more detail is given below of where we got our ideas/ inspiration from

90's Fashion Fashion in the early 1990s was generally loose fitting and colourful. Unless you were going for the grunge look.T-shirts were often big and shorts were extra long. Mullets were also stylish for a period of time.In the 90's tapered trousers were big on the fashion market.

Guys and girls both wore baseball caps in different ways. And all sweatshirts were worn with a turtleneck under it.

Grunge also became massive during the 90's-where it had Stylistic influences from : alternative rock, hardcore punk, and heavy metal

Characters in the blind date scene

-Cilla BlackFrom watching 'Blind Date' as a child I remember her always wearing a blazer with a matching skirt, with a plain top underneath it. For Cilla we want to get as close as we can in portraying her personality and style.

From watching the documentary of Cilla's life I learnt that she was into her fashion as she quoted about getting her first pay'I tend to spend my money on clothes' Also from her personality I could see she wants to better herself- and make herself look presentable.

Cilla was also seen wearing a lot of black and dark colours, so we would use black/ purple shirts and skirts. She aslo stuck to wearing little kitten heals. From the photos you can see Cilla is well dressed/smart.

Geeky-Weirdo CharacterFor this character I want to get the look of being fairly young, bookworm type of girl who trys to come across cool.A stereotypical geek would be wearing glasses, jackup trousers, uncoordinated clothing.One of my inspirations for this character was the famous 'Youtube' subscriber 'MirandaSings'

90's Geek Fashion:-

I have collected some images from Google to show what geek fashion would have looked like in the 1990's:I will also use some of of these pictures along with the Miranda Sings inspiration to create a costume for the Geeky character. -Rounded classes -Baggy Jeans

-Checked triangle sweatshirts with collar

-The hair will either be messy, or in two pony tails with scrunchies in depending on the actresses character choice for their character personality

Chavy character.

For this character I wanted to create a contrasting look with the higher class posh fashion character, and the Greek looking character.Looking into 90's fashion the most relevant clothing would be things such as,--Bomber jackets--matching tracksuits--gold hoop earings--Gold chains--Hairstyle: slick side pony tail, or top knot bun on the side of the head.

I found inspiration from the old 90's TV show 'Fresh prince of bel air' as you can see from the picture his style is quite retro and has some chav qualities.

I also looked through internet 90's fashion magazines I found this picture that had some similarities to the typical 'Chav' look we associate with in the 21st centry.Sophisticated- High Fashion Character.This female character has a higher status then any of the other blind dates. Her fashion will be based on higher class fashion- inspired by supermodels.The top models of the 1990s were Tyra Banks, Paula Abdu, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford. I looked at pictures of the clothes they wore to get inspiration:

-Tailored skirt and trouser suits,-pencil skirts,-cardigans, animal prints,-Fur coats-high heals were worn by the women.The Common look among young women was a short black 'Slip Dress' worn over a tight, undersized white T-shirt.Popular accessories: white gloves, brooches, red lipstick, and dimonds.SLIP DRESS

The male contestantFor this characters costume, it will be centralised towards the average male 90's fashion.

We could go two different fashion types *The Grunge (Inspired by Inspired by Kurt Cobain of the band Nirvana) Something along the lines of this picture.

*Average 90s Guy Look.

TV shows like Saved by the Bell and the Fresh Prince of Bel Air became popular during the 90s so many guys dressed with similar fashion trends.*A baggy sweatshirts with loose fitted jeans.

Brightly coloured/ Primary coloured clothing

Loose fitted hip-hop styled jeans

Both men and women sported bright pinks, greens, blues, and yellows.

Patterned jackets, muscle pants, and shirts were extremely popular among young men in the 1990s.

Tracksuits are the perfect 1990s look for the guy with a more casual sense of style.

Show girl HostsFor these characters costumes we will dress them in some form of leotard, with fishnets and either ballroom heals or, character heals. Or a sequin bra-let and high waisted knickers.The colours will preferably be black but have some sort of glittery/ diamonds embroiled on them . This is so that the main attention is on Cilla and the contestants.My inspiration came from watching the recent production of 'Sinatra'. Though this is what showgirls and dancers currently wear in the 21st century, it was also what they wore back in the 1990's.Dancers fashion hasn't really changed much over the decade.

Another inspiration I got was this picture of Bruce Forsyth- The picture was taken during the 60's but this is the sort of idea we want to create for Blind date show girl hosts.Hairstyles will be down but neat, off the face or in a slick low pony.Makeup will be bold and glamourous.Black or tan fishnetsglittery jewelleryideally for the actual show we will want some sort of headpiece but for the pitch we will keep costumes simpleAs these characters will be performing movement and dance tracks, the costumes need to be stretchy material so they don't rip.

Seamstress Salary (United Kingdom)

The average wage for a Seamstress is 7.89 per hour. Pay for this job does not change much by experience, with the most experienced earning only a bit more.

To Hire a Seamstress would cost more money in the long run. But it has its positives: for example:if a costume rips there is a seamstress working with our company to fix or alter costumes.

We have decided to buy costumes from shops, because it will end up saving money. if a costume breaks or needs altering we can take it to a seamstress.

BUDGET: PER COSTUME 20-30it will differer for all costumes though so on average 7x30pounds= 210

This is because it will make it more interesting for viewers to see this rather then your stereotypical average dressed 90's person.Cilla's costume has to be very specific to her, we want to create a very close replicaWe needed to be fully aware of what people wore during the 90's so we could make it an effective musical and not a fluke.For example: Blind date is set in the 90's so we wouldn't use the same costumes as we would during her teenage years when Cilla was establishing her career.Our budget will range for different characters- this is because the show girl and posh high fashion costume will cost a lot more the chavy and geek characters costume.
