The NWAACCNWAACC
The Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges consists of thirty-five (35) community colleges in the states of Washington and Oregon. At the conclusion of the regular season the top four teams from each region qualify for the NWAACC Tournament. The last eleven years the tournament has been held at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Washington. The Clackamas Cougars are the only team that has gone to the tournament every year since.
The Southern Region
The Southern region of the NWAACC is arguably the toughest of the four regions in basketball. Every year there is a heated battle to finish in the top four teams and make the end of the season tournament. The region consists of eight schools all in the state of Oregon, Umpqua Community College in Rose-burg, Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, Lane Community College in Eugene, Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Portland Community College in Portland and Mt. Hood Commu-nity College in Gresham. In the past seven years the NWAACC Championship in men’s basketball has been won by the Southern region four times, three by the Clackamas Cougars!
