THE COURTHOUSE COMES ALIVE WITH MUSIC- On Sunday, September 7at 3 pm,the courtroom of the Historic Salem Courthouse will come alive with the stunning music of classicalmasters. Concert pianist, Daniel Shulman, and concert violinist, Kaori Washiyama, will be the guestperformers. The first of two fall concerts features one of Beethovens most popular instrumentalworks, the Kreutzer Sonata for Violin and Piano. On a broad scale unprecedented for its time,this signature piece of Beethovens, full of fiery display, is characterized by an intense drama, itsnovel dance-like finale ( a Tarantella), and a set of contrasting variations of great charm and sophis-tication. One of the crown jewels of the violin literature and a long favorite with the public, it is apiece with a curious history that deserves, and will receive preceding the performance, a littleexplanation. Also on the program are two substantial works for each of the instruments alone:Bachs G Minor Sonata for the violin, remarkable for its fully developed harmonies, even when onlyimplied, as played by the solo violin without the aid of any accompanying parts; and Schubertsthematically exquisite and finely detailed Sonata for Piano in B Major, music written in his 20thyear

THE 29TH ANNUAL SANDY HILL DAYS WILL BEHELD ON FRIDAY, SEPT. 5TH AND SATURDAY,
SEPT. 6TH IN HUDSON FALLS.Due to the construction projectin the village, we have had to make a change in the
ocation of the Arts and Crafts that is usually held in Juckett Park. This year the arts andrafts will be held on the grounds of the Zion Episcopal Church on Main St. , just north ofhe village hall.
A sincere thanks to Rev. Richard Chandler and the members of the Zion EpiscopalChurch for allowing us to use their grounds.
There will be no fireworks display this year. The committee had to make a difficultdecision in regards to the fireworks. Since there will be no lighting in the area where most
eople view the fireworks display, it was decided that the safety of the spectators was amajor concern and therefore no fireworks this year. Watch out for 2015- we hope to be ableo make up for the lack of fireworks in 2014.Paris Park will have carnival rides, games and food vendors in addition to the entertain-
ment.The arts & crafts venue will feature local artisans, food vendors and entertainment.
The Hudson Falls Police Department along with other local law enforcement agencieswill be holding various demonstrations from 12-5 on Saturday in front of village hall. Beure to stop and check out the seatbelt simulators, rollover demonstration, get yourhildrens IDs and much more.All of the proceeds from Sandy Hill Days goes back into the community. Last year we
were able to provide scholarships to Hudson Falls graduating seniors totaling $3,500.00.Another $1,800.00 went to various organizations within the community- Boy Scouts, FireDepartment, Rescue Squad, Washington County Childrens Committee, Toys for Tots,Hudson Falls Police Benevolent Association, Operation Santa Claus, Cornerstone SoupKitchen and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Also the committee is looking for new members. Meetings are the 1st Thursday of eachmonth from February through September at 7 pm in village hall. In order to keep Sandy HillDays alive, we need new young members. If anyone is interested, please come to ameeting or stop and chat with a member during the event.
Please come out and support the 29th annual Sandy Hill Days event on Friday, Sept. 5thnd Saturday, Sept. 6th so that we can continue to support the organization and citizensf our great community.

THE PAINTINGS OF D. STEVENS BURGESS. The artwork ofalem artist, D. Stevens Burgess, is currently on display in the firstloor Benn Room of the Salem Courthouse Community Center and
will remain on view through the month of September. Stevens wasorn in New Delhi, India and studied art in Bangkok, Thailand and
New York. His exhibit contains 17 works focusing on land, water and
he natural world. His studies are creations of his own imagination,nd he no longer uses points of reference in any of his pieces. Hisones are subtle, and his paintings draw the viewer into the landscapen a most relaxing manner. Stevens has exhibited his work in severalrea galleries with this being his third exhibit at the CCC. The Bennoom is handicap accessible and open to the public.
