Laser therapy clinical discussion and user group meeting

Part 1: A review of theory, including the effect of laser and narrow-band light on biochemistry and subsequent physiological changes. Understanding the technical parameters of your own laser. Part 2: An informal, guided discussion in which we expand on participating practitioners’ own clinical experience and consider the various probes, treatment times and techniques they have used. We will consider what worked and what did not and also discuss safety, contra-indications and DoHlNHS regulations. One- day events will also take place in February (Leeds), March (London) and April (Bristol).

Fee: f30 (covers both parts).

Also: Laser therapy safety and competence postal examination

There is still much to be proved regarding laser therapy’s mechanisms and efficacy. However, there are many practitioners using lasers in private practice and the NHS. We will provide a basic safety and competence certificate for those who can demonstrate through a simple examination that they: (1) know the specification of their own laser; (2) know NHS and DOH regulations regarding licensing and safety; (3) understand the fundamental photo-chemicallphysiological mechanisms; (4) can propose a safe treatment rationale for given case histories; (5) can discuss relevant contradictions and (6) can discuss dosimetry theory.
