ROUND TABLE INDIA SONG If we could consider each other A neighbour, a friend or a brother It would be a wonderful wonderful world It would be a wonderful world If each little kid had fresh milk each day If each old soul had some place to stay If each working man had enough time to play It would be a wonderful world …(CHORUS) If there were no poor and the rich were content If strangers were welcome wherever they went If each of us knew what true brotherhood meant It would be a wonderful world …(CHORUS) If people all over the world trust one another Not thinking about their race or color If they did agree to join hands altogether It would be a wonderful world …(CHORUS) If Tablers of India can properly plan To do for their country whatever they can If fellowship brings about service to man It would be a wonderful world …(CHORUS) Oh Boy! It is the participation and involvement of Tables across the country that makes Round Table India what it is! It has been fantastic to see the participation of all Tables & Families of CPRT 34 in all facets of Tabling. You have beautifully touched every facet of Tabling. You have not just involved yourself in Projects, but have supported and executed FTE Projects jointly with CSRT 106 and RRT 194. Dear Prashant, It gives me tremendous pleasure to write a message for your Table CPRT34, a table that I hold in high esteem and regard. I recall having received a set of publicity brochure and CD at the 1st NEX in Kolkatta on the Publicity and Fundraising initiative of your Table. I have proactively shared both the brochure and the idea with several Tables across the country. I guess this is just one of the several initiatives taken up by your Table.

During the course of the year, your Chairman Tr. Rohit Bajaj and Secretary Tr. Prashant Mantri have been driving the Table extremely well. I must commend you for all the events and activities during the year viz. Publicity event with Dr. Shashi Tharoor, HRD with Mr. Chamaria, FTE project The Chakla MSK School, built jointly with LC 46, RT 106 and of course the tie-up with Infinity which your Table has brought to Round Table India and also actively involved in nurturing and maintaining the same. Of course not to mention the umpteenth fellowship activities in your Table as well as jointly with other Tables in your city. I would also like to recognize Sq. Lg Rajesh Agarwal who will be bestowed upon one of the highest honour of Round Table India ie to be appointed as the National Honorary Tabler of RTI at the Changeover Banquet at Mumbai . Along with Sq. Lg. Rajesh we also have Tr. Rohit Bajaj who will be FTE Newsletter and Communication Committee member as part of the overall Project Team. Hence I invite all of you to register for the COB in Mumbai to support and give strength to your Tablers who have contributed immensely to this movement and will be recognized I’m sure with such a strong year just about to close and the new Tabling year knocking at our doors, you are as excited as I am, just as a little kid moving up from one grade to another. With your support and goodwill I’m sure Round Table India will continue to scale greater heights year on year.

Keep Smiling, keep Shinning!

Dear Chairman Rohit , awesome Secretary Prashant and my dear friends in Table 34, Warm greetings. It is indeed a pleasure to be a part of the annual report of in my knowledge one of the finest tables in RTI this year. All your ideas and their implementation have been extremely successful and have given examples to many a table across the country. Be it in Fellowship concepts like MCBC (Marriage Celebration Birthday Celebration) ,AKMK (Aao Khoob Masti Karein) over coffee have produced amazing results in intra-table bonding . I was there at Ranchi to witness the same with many of your tablers and have also heard raving reviews about Funtakshari Aditya Kunal you have rocked. ROCK ON ,rock star . Even when it came to FTE Projects you guys were not left behind lagging ,and as a matter of fact your Chakla MSK - jointly done with LC # 46 and RT # 106, also funded by P&G Shiksha and Infinity Foundation. Eight classrooms constructed benefitting about 500 children. Project cost: Rs.15.30 lakhs is a land mark . to add to which I hear that Deaf and Dumb school project jointly with LC # 46 almost complete . You also have moved projects across cities and helped new tables with your Joint FTE Project with Rourkela RT # 194 to construct a two-block classroom for the underprivileged, Bhumi Puja done on May 11 that speaks great length about your dedication to service ,please take a bow . This did not deter your focus on with some great Non-FTE Projects namely Movie show for the lesser privileged on the Table's Charter Day ,No More Barefoot project on independence day jointly with LC # 46 ,Project on Wheels and many a project during RTI Week:

Thanks for the great Publicity and Good coverage of Chakla MSK inauguration in the print media gave immense publicity to the movement and its contribution to society. A great feather in the cap was your fund raiser and publicity event "An Evening with Dr.Shashi Tharoor" resulted in excellent publicity for the RTI movement and also bought in to your table 10.25 lakhs .Kudos to the great efforts put in by you guys . At the same you have had some amazing LAPD sessions and ensured that you have enjoyed every facet of tabling . My best wishes to the new team and congratulations once again to the great tabling year under the leadership of Tr. .Rohit and Tr. Prashant. Men are not necessarily born great, they become great in their achievements and deeds, there lies great-ness in each of us ,its just that we need to Tap the potential for bringing out the same . Regards Tr. Punit Sampat., National Table Talk Editor 2011-12 ROUND TABLE INDIA

Dear Tr Rohit and my dear friends at CPRT34.

I still cannot forget the day when I was introduced to this beautiful world of tabling at a fellowship event of this table and today I am writing as a proud Area Chairman.

Yes I feel proud of leading an area which has tables like 34.Friends, you all have set examples for many of us and it goes without saying that we derive lot of energy and inspiration from your bonding, togetherness and ideas.

Rohit, you had a great year and you chose the best mode of driving your table, the smiling mode. Always saw you smiling and calm and may be this is the primary reason of 34 shining in all facets of tabling.

We were treated by some wonderful activities with a special mention to " An Evening with Dr. Shashi Tharoor". What an event. Even today people talk about it and has certainly made Round Table India proud. The Infinity tie up will certainly

add a lot of value to FTE and we all at Round Table India thank Mr. Chamaria for showing us the fact that we tablers have it in us and we have the potential to build 3000 schools in a year. The evening with him at Taj Bengal was very

unique and it was for the first time in the history of Round Table India when a donor came forward to recognise and appreciate the good work we do. Now that's what is power of tabling.

I seriously admire the bonding you guys share with your circle and take my words friends.. You all look best when you are together with your circle. Somebody’s said right. Behind every successful man , there's a woman. Yes friends 100 on 100 to CPLC46 for supporting you to always stay the best. A special thank to this member of 46 , Cr. Vishu without

whom I could not have done anything this year. Friends, I am glad that there are many new members inducted in 34 and its a complete new faced table. Friends, just

enjoy yourself, be together and be there. You have many roles to play in life and whenever life demands your presence just say "I'LL BE THERE"

Keep Shining Keep Smiling

Your friend Forever Neeraj Banka

Area IV Chairman 2011-12

Page 8: CPRT 34 Annual Report 2011-12

Dear Friends @ CPRT34, Congratulation on the successful completion of another fun filled tabling year. I have had the privilege to attend a few of your events and socials and have always been impressed with the fellowship you share in the table. Your work this past year has drawn from your strengths in fellowship and transcended into multiple facets of tabling:

Fellowship: The inter table Funtakshari, MCBC (Marriage Celebration Birthday Celebration), AKMK (Aao Khoob Masti Karein), Diwali Tash Party & your attendance at the Area IV AGM – Raunchy Ranchi.

Projects: FTE inauguration of Chakla MSK and Nandipara Stone laying at Abu Bakar, the Deaf and Dum FTE project which is almost completed, Project Dignity - Toilet building projects with Rotary

Non FTE: Movie show for lesser privileged, Barefoot Project, Project of wheels & of course RTI Week I am a firm believer that to achieve something out of the ordinary, you have to push the envelope, you have to overcome your fears and go beyond the

usual, Chairman Tr. Rohit Bajaj took a fantastic step of joining hands with Rourkela RT194 for a joint FTE project in Rourkela.

The list of achievements during the year gone by is too long to list here, but it was a pleasure to see so many of you at the area and national events and indeed, that is the best way to do Tabling! It is the single biggest gift Round Table can offer you – the wonderful world of friends across India. I have the good fortune to interact very closely with Chairman Tr. Rohit Bajaj this year and am glad that he was on board with us in Area. Tr. Rohit Bajaj has been a true leader and sacrificed selflessly to further the cause if his Table, his Area and the movement. This coming year we will see Tr. Rohit in the national board committee and for which we all wish you very best. The most important source of communication to and from the Table is the Table Secretary, and the performance of the Table is judged by the reporting through your Table Meeting Minutes. I commend Table Secretary Tr. Prashant Mantri for being a fantastic support to Chairman as well as the Table. Every beginning has an end, and at every end there is a beginning. Friends, wish you the very best for your Table’s AGM. Do celebrate the year gone by and welcome with joy and happiness the year coming in. Here’s wishing Tr. Brijesh Dalmia and team the very best for yet another year of Fellowship and Service. Wishing Calcutta Park Street Round Table 34 many more years of fruitful Tabling and TRUST Friends forever!

Publicity: Good coverage of Chakla MSK inauguration in the print media. "An Evening with Dr. Shashi Tharoor" resulted in excellent publicity for the RTI movement.

Fundraising: "An Evening with Dr.Shashi Tharoor" was a house full. LAPD: “An Evening With Mr.Ravindra Chamaria” were simply a landmark one.

Dear Rohit, Prashant and the entire Team 34, At the outset, I would like to congratulate you all for the Fabulous year

RT34 has had.

Under the Mr. Cool leadership of Tr. Rohit Bajaj and the entire team of en-ergetic Tablers, you guys have left no Facet un-touched, rather I would

say, Team 34 have excelled in all the facets of Tabling. Rocking fel-lowships, meaningful & worthy projects, superlative Publicity and the

mega fund-raiser, all carried out so splendidly.

Worth mentioning and acknowledging here is the Infinity tie-up which RT 34 has given to RTI and Area IV. 'An Evening with Shashi Tharoor', too, was an evening to remember. I was awe-struck by the magnitude of the event, the

media coverage and immaculate management of the whole show.

Congratulations once again and Wishing Tr. Brijesh and his team all the best for the new Tabling year.

LMF Tr. Neeraj Agarwal AST Area IV RTI 2011-12

Dear Rohit n rest @T-34, An incredible tabling year just went by wherein your table once again excelled in each n every facets of tabling thus taking the table to yet

another newer heights. A year power packed with battery of events which were not only

meaningful but fun filled as well. But the event which stood out was an

Evening with Dr:Shashi Tharoor in terms of the tremendous publicity it garnered for the table and the entire movement. .It was truly

inspirational n enriching as well. Another shot in the arm was your successful tie up with the Infinity

group to support FTE projects. A HRD session with the CEO Mr: Ravindra Chamaria was truly motivating

and also opened up avenues for various meaningful partnership with RTI.

Rohit, you are a true leader who led the table from the front. Many congratulations to you n your team for an excellent year in office. It was great being associated with you guys as a friend n a NHT.

All the best. , Cheers, Sq leg Anirban Banerjee-NHT.

Dear Chairman Rohit, Congratulations for a great year to you and Secretary Prashant and entire team of 34. The table has attained greater heights under your leadership on all the facets which was expected of you and the table. The landmark tie-up with Infinity and Mr Chamaria acknowledging and

appreciating the good work of RTI proves how meticulously we work at 34. The audience with Dr Sashi Tharoor was a result of out of box thinking and enriched tablers of the wisdom & wise thinking of Mr. Tharoor and added

immense publicity to the movement. Its commendable to inaugurate three schools, though this is in the DNA of you all , what needs mentioning is the school for the Deaf & Dumb and the partnering with Rourkela Round Table for building a school at Rourkela. The marathon of non FTE activities during the RTI project week is worth

emulating. The Table had a great fun and fellowship throughout the year under the

witty chairman Rohit. As the tabling year changes once again congratulate Tr Rohit & Tr Prashant for a wonderful and happening year in office and raising the bar higher and wish Tr Rohit all the best as he takes up the

national portfolio in the coming year. Would wish the incoming chairman Tr Brijesh and Secretary Tr Aditya all the best for the coming year.

We truly lived tabling. KSKS Your Friend…..

Dear Friends, It is a privilege and honour to have been proposed by the table for the post of the Area Honorary Tabler and to be requested to write a message for the Annual Report. The table is buzzing with activity and with many enthusiastic inductions this year the table is bound to reach higher and become greater still. I commend the stupendous efforts of Chairman Tr Rohit who has led the table to such illustrious heights. The table has excelled in all facets with the tablers grabbing each opportunity that came their way and perform their best . The intra and inter table bonding has become better and bound to grow further with the table bidding to host the Area AGM next year . As secretary, Tr. Prashant has outperformed himself and am sure will remember this tenure for years to come . My best wishes to Tr Brijesh, the genius evergreen Fundraising convenor, as he takes over as Chairman of the ever vibrant Calcutta Park Street Round Table 34 . All the best Team 34 . Keep Shining, keep smiling . Manmohan Kothari

Dear Rohit & Tablers of CPRT 34 I would personally like to congratulate Chairman Rohit, for his excellent leadership skills and taking the table forward in all facets with a dedicated spirit of teamwork and motivation.

Since my time in tabling, CPRT 34 is the table which has been looked upon as the trendsetter and a bunch of diehard tablers and it is you who kept the banner flying high as always. Being the Chairman of one of the most vibrant tables is not easy as it is a challenge to maintain the standards already achieved but your predecessors.

"An Evening with Dr. Shashi Tharoor" was an evening to remember and an excellent fundraiser too. I for one surely know it was a super success as I pre-poned my trip from Bangladesh to specially attend this much talked about event.

This year your FTE project with CSRT-106 and LC 46 would as always add value to the life of many children. Your tie up with Infinity Group has the potential to take FTE projects to many more tables and areas and you guys deserve a standing ovation for the feat. As the new tabling year begins with Tr. Brijesh Dalmia taking over the mantle of CPRT 34 – the table under his vision & leadership is all set to achieve even higher standards & goals.

I am sure all of you will have to catch up with a lot of teachings and reading under the leadership of Prof. Dalmia.

Rajani & I are immensely grateful to each of you at CPRT 34 for your unstinted friendship and love – which we will cherish forever. Our best wishes to Tr. Brijesh Dalmia and his team for the coming year.

Dear Friends at 34, A journey is incomplete without a good companion and what better can one ask if you have the companionship of a table like RT 34. You have been the pillar of support in all our endeavors and like a true friend ,you all have stood by us whenever we needed your help. Many thanks for publicizing us as project partners at your fundraiser. The three Hrd's- Six thinking hats, Couple's valentine HRD & an interactive session with Mr Chamaria organised by you were all commendable & we loved being a part of it.

I would like to thank you all for supporting the limb donation camp both financially and by helping us successfully organizing the same. Chairman Rohit, heartiest congratulations on an excellent year at the office and I shall always cherish your unstinted support throughout the year. I still recall the day when I was in two minds about taking up the chairpersonship when you whispered into my ears " haan kar do , hum log Sara saal mazaa karenge ". Thank you for sticking to your words and we all enjoyed the various fellowship activities organized by the AKMK Team. Personally, it has been a very satisfying year for me which couldn't have been possible without the effort & support from each one of you. My best wishes to the incoming chairman Tr Brijesh and his entire team and I am sure the table-circle symbiosis will strengthens further with his extremely talented better half taking over as the Chairperson of our circle. Passionately believing in myself, Cr Archana Jain, Chairperson (2011-12) CPLC 46

Dear Chairman Rohit, Greetings from the Passionate team! I am deeply grateful to CPRT 34 for the numerous times it has supported me during my journey as Area IV Chairperson. I have had the good fortune of attending all the landmark events and projects of RT 34 and have returned home smiling. I fully endorse your motto "Share your Smile"! No wonder 34 ians are such a jolly lot and have shined and smiled all the year through. Ably complimenting you was Tr.Prashant. I salute his dedication. I wish Tr.Brijesh a year filled with more smiles ahead. Compassion with Passion Cr.Vishu Kothari Area IV Chairperson (2011-12)

Page 12: CPRT 34 Annual Report 2011-12

W hen I was the Secretary of RT 34 and AST , Area IV , I told everyone that the Secretary is as good as his Chairman . Now in retrospect I think I underestimated myself . Sorry Manmohan & Nirmal , with a Secretary like Prashant, I am

forced to take my words back. Now I can proudly say that a Chairman is as good as his Secretary. And why only Secretary , in fact a Chairman is only as good as his whole Team, and what a Team I had. A treasurer like Bharat , who never hesitated to ask me why I am issuing a cheque and whether the same has been approved by the Table. An IPC like Anunay who always reminded me of his experiences of what to do and what not to do and a VC like Brijesh who simply said that I would do it or not do it in the next year . That clearly gave me the hint whenever I had the tendency to go overboard. With the tablers as supporting as 34 , you can easily go overboard. With the belief that your every decision would be okayed , it was all the more necessary to take the right decisions in the interest of the Table. Thankfully all my conveners made my job easier . The fellowship conveners Kunal & Aditya handled the job funtastically . With their innovative ideas and events the ineternal & external bonding was at a high this year . The FTE projects were so well handled by Harmeet & Bobby that till date I forward all the related mails to Harmeet , even before opening the same. Non FTE conveners Tr. Abhishek and Saurav brilliantly lined up the RTI Week and other projects during the year. Everything was going on a normal pace , when suddenly the Shashi Tharoor happened. Thanks to fundraising convener Vishnu for this event which immediately scaled the activities graph of the Table this year. It induced a sense of pride in all of us in the Table and Area. The event also triggered another mega event of the year , with Mr. Chamaria , wherein first time in the history a donor has come forward to host an event for us. Thanks to LAPD convener Brijesh for arranging that. Publicity was well handled by Ravi and Vivek . Extension was handled with care by Anunay with four inductions during the year. Table talk and blogs was well coordinated and reported by Tr Sidharth. Trs. Saurabh , Priyavrat , Piyush , Rohit T,

also did a spendlid job in their respective portfolios. Special mention to newcomers Mahesh , Pranay , Abhinav & Aditya Manaksia who made their presence felt and assumed tabling responsibilities as if they had been there for a long time. Of course the past lineage of RT 34 is something which we all get as an added bonus. It is something that we all cherish and respect. Thanks to HTs Mitesh , Krishan & Narayan and the Navratnas and Sqlegs to be always there when we needed them . I was lucky to host the Nostalgic 900th meeting this year where I got the chance to felicitate them for their selfless contribution to the Tabling movement. The NEX and the AEX members were a huge support this year too . Ashwinni , Vineet , Harish , Punit , Akhil & all three Neeraj’s were always just a phone call away. All achievements and apprehensions were equally shared without any reservation. This really helped in the smooth functioning this year. If I had to point out one thing that I take back from this year as a Table Chairman , I would say it’s the art of “self restraint” . Being the Chairman of a dynamic table like 34 invariably teaches you that. I hope the same remains with me . I am sure the incoming Chairman Tr. Brijesh has a lot to give to the movement in terms of his wisdom and experience and I am more sure that he will take back a lot more than what he gives. Good luck the incoming team and keep the flag of 34 flying high as ever.

Share your Smile I’ll always be there

Keep Smiling , Keep Shining

Signing off

LMF Tr. Rohit Bajaj Chairman 2011-12 ROUND TABLE 34

Page 13: CPRT 34 Annual Report 2011-12

I remember the day last year when incoming Chairman Tr. Rohit Bajaj called me and asked me to take the post of Secretary in his board. At first, I was reluctant, having heard from friends about the demands and responsibilities on a Table Secretary. After discussing with senior tablers and past secretaries, things became clearer. I came round to the view that it was the right time to give back to the movement after all the gains over the last seven years. It was not an easy post to take, but having been a tabler for a while it was high time to take on a major responsibility. I accepted, ready to do whatever it takes to fulfill my responsibilities well. In the words of Joshua J Marine, "Challenges are what make life interesting, overcoming them is what makes life meaningful" My experience of the past one year has made me discover abilities within me which I could never imagine. It helped in building my confidence, developing my writing skills and has also given me an opportunity to interact and make friends outside my table, at the Area and National level. The launch of MOMO (Minutes of Meetings Online) this year came as a shot in the arm and made life so much simpler for us secretaries. I would personally like to congratulate the National Board for coming out with such a brilliant program. There is no bigger motivation than to be recognized for your work. Special recognitions received from the Nationals was the icing on the cake which energized me to keep moving throughout the year. Here I would like to mention help received from Chairman Rohit who himself has been a fantastic Secretary and AST. It was an honor to host the National President, Round Table India, Tr. Ashwinni Hemdev at our residence during his visit to Kolkata for the 900th meeting. The 900th landmark meeting was an evening of nostalgia for all of us at RT # 34. While making the presentation, I relived the time and contribution of our old heroes, which filled me with a sense of awe. The passion and commitment of every past Chairman made me an even prouder 34ien.

Before I conclude, my heartfelt thanks to Chairman Tr.Rohit Bajaj, NST Tr. Harish Shenoy, National IT Convenor Tr. Vinay Kumar, other National and Area Dignitaries, Table Navratnas especially Sq.Leg Manish Jain, AHT Manmohan Kothari; Tr. Kunal Jain, LC # 46 Secretary Cr. Smita Murarka and last but not the least my wife Cr. Madhuri Mantri for all their support and guidance. I would also like to thank each and every member of CPRT # 34 for constantly supporting me and encouraging me by their warm words of acknowledgement for the minutes. I wish Tr. Aditya Murarka, the incoming Secretary, all the very best, as he takes over the reins from me. LMF Tr. Prashant Mantri Secretary 2011-12 Calcutta Park Street Round Table 34

Tr. Kunal presented the Annual Report for 2010-11 with an excellent multimedia presentation: In 2010-11, the table undertook construction of six rooms and four toilets at Chakla Madhyamik Shiksha Kendra in Chakla village, 24 Parganas district. The project was taken up jointly with

CPLC # 46 and RT # 106 on February 8, 2011, laying the foundation stone for Phase I construction in a G+1 structure. The work was completed over the next 3-4 months. The school operates from Class V-VIII, catering to 312 students. We also received a grant from the West Bengal government; the school will be upgraded to Class X soon. The second FTE project taken up was at the Nandipara Madhyamik Shiksha Kendra, to construct six classrooms on G+1 building basis. The stone-laying has been completed and the P&G Shiksha grant for the project has been received. During the RTI week, the Table did several community service projects jointly with CPLC # 46. Projects were also undertaken during the year on occasions such as Charter Day, Independence Day. School conservation also received its due attention; initiatives were taken to keep the existing schools updated. During the year, the table completed FTE projects worth Rs.15.69 Lakh. On a cumulative basis, the table has completed projects worth Rs. 1.11 crore.

Tr. Kunal reported that fellowship was a major focus area for the year. A new concept called MLTR (Monthly Lunch of Tablers) was introduced, wherein tablers met for lunch on the last

Saturday of the month, at a venue close to office. The response was excellent, helped increase bonding among Tablers. Other memorable fellowships included watching world cup cricket and football together, hosting the YAPS, movie shows like Action Replay, fund-raiser celebrations after the table and circle fundraisers, Rajasthani khichda at Tr. Manmohan’s residence, Taash Baash at Tr. Manish’s residence. Theme socials hosted included Ulta Pulta Party, Honeymoon night, Prom night, Dons & Divas and Golf social. We also had badminton matches at Tr. Rajesh Agarwal’s residence in the winter, everyone enjoyed to the fullest. At the Inter-table level, the table participated in all area fellowships including DI Carnival, Inquizitive, Casino night and Funtakshari – hosted by and conducted by tablers from 34. The table was also well represented at the Area and National AGMs, where we won awards for best fellowship and twinklers’ activity; COMs for Balanced Activities, Non-FTE Projects, Best Secretary and Best Floor Tabler.

Tr. Kunal reported that the HRD fundraiser “An Evening with Arthur Carmazzi” was a success and the table raised over Rs.6 lakhs

from the event. The table also raised funds via sale of Diwali crackers and greeting cards. The success of the table’s fundraiser really helped in publicity of the movement in the corporate world. One of the participants, the CMD of Infinity Group, was very pleased with our work and has committed 100 schools across India, in partnership with Round Table India.

Mr. Arthur Carmazzi’s event gave immense publicity to CPRT # 34 and the RTI movement. PTI covered the event in an interview with the author , published in nearly 50 websites thereafter. On

Publicity day we went for an early morning walk wearing RTI T-shirts, with good participation from the table and circle.

Tr.Kunal reported that the table’s HRD fundraiser at Taj Bengal got an excellent response, helped increase bonding and friendship among tablers. We experienced spiritual calmness under rebirthing guru

Minood, through his talk on meditation and rebirth. There were four extensions during the year – Trs.Aditya ,Bharat, Abhishek & Saurav.

The Annual Report was proposed by Tr. Vishnu and seconded by Tr. Piyush

We were honoured by the visit of P&G

representatives to one of the most chal leng ing pro jec ts of CPRT 34, Nandipara MSK. The school was remotely inside a village of Deganga block. The access road was a dirt road that got washed away in last year monsoons. That blocked the way for.raw materials and delayed the project. We persuaded the local authority to construct the road and our efforts were paid. The school was completed and not one or two but 50 heads from P&G representing P&G visited the school. The distributor team and even customer attended the function wherein about 250children had gathered along with school authoritues and local panchayat head. Mr. Vivek and Mr. Dhawan

addressed the crowd expressing their gratitude towards or Round Table Movement., they were over whelmed by the location of school and the compara-ble high standards of infrastructure. The highlight wad the fact that because of CPRT34 initiative of building the school the Panchayat had made the road and inspired after completion of school the government sanctioned and constructed a 20 feet wide bitumen road connecting the main road to the village and school. This ripple effect was a great achieve-ment which was acknowledged by the BDO head as he addressed the audience. P&g guests were very pleased and announced free lunch treat to all present there. They sent one of the 8 cars to get lunch packed from city and deliver them. It was a good experience and honour for CPRT34 to host the P&G guests.

After inauguration all dignitaries present expressed their feelings and assured the school authorities for future support. Most of th em sleep with th eir sweaters on during th e winters as th ey find it difficult to manage

The children displayed extraordinary talent and were super excited even

with a blank canvas

What better way to start the RTI Week than providing some colours in the life of these children. Almost all of them, when asked what they wanted to draw , shouted “ghar” or “bari”. They made flowers , idols and sceneries too.

Self Reliance We wondered why this is being called a Training Centre until we discovered that the inamtes here were trained to earn their living and be self reliant The best part of the Training Centre was that the inmates were trained to be self reliant. They are trained in handlooms.

In line with the Table’s lineage of having HRD fundraisers with high profile speakers, we had Dr.Shashi Tharoor amongst us this year. Tr.Vishnu Sureka had briefed him about the Round Table movement, he was very impressed with the work we do and instantly agreed to speak at the fundraiser. We quickly got into action, led by Chairman Tr. Rohit Bajaj, to organize the event. Informal meetings, discussions were held, the en-tire Table came together, in turn strengthening the bonds among tablers. Trs. Pranay and Abhinav, though prospectives at that time, showed keen interest and contributed just as tablers, bringing in valuable sponsor-ships. We were overwhelmed by their commitment and support. Tr. Brijesh demonstrated excel-lent organizational skills, beating his own records in past fundraisers. Our beloved

Navratnas, HTs and Sq.Legs gu i ded , s upp or t ed and motivated us to do our best. They even offered one seat for every five seats sold by active tablers, a gesture that really inspired us to push ourselves to the hilt. The event was well publicized in the social media, entire round table community. The RTI National President, Tr. Ashwinni Hemdev and Area dignitaries graced the occasion with their presence. The Infinity Group and Chandran Tharoor Foundation were key sponsors for the event, we thank them for their support. Tr.Bharat took care of the publicity, Tr.Harmeet anchored the event. Dr. Tharoor spoke on "India in the 21st Cen-tury: Challenges and Opportuni-ties", it was an interactive session appreciated by one and all. Post-event Dr.Tharoor

happily signed books authored by him, bought by the attendees from the pre-function area. We got an excellent response from corporates and individuals. A separate dinner and private session was arranged with Dr.Tharoor for special invitees from the business world. The event was a grand success, we raised Rs.10.25 lakhs. The RTI movement at large gained immense publicity and respect for the good work being done for the underprivileged. It was a very proud moment after all the hard work. More than 400 part icipants went home enriched with knowledge and optimism about the future of our country.

the event . The other tables were offered a matching donation of

20% of the amount collected to their Table’s Project account . Area and National groups were bombarded with the various

publicity materials and news of the event Tablers were offered complimentary passes through an

innovative scheme of “Give compliments to receive complimentary passes”. This has led to general awareness of

the event amongst the friends and their friends and families through chain reaction .

The new tablers and prospective who were present at the event could feel a sense of pride and satisfaction in joining the organization.

When I go down memory lane and remember the dusky evening when I stepped into Pankaj Poddar’s office at camac Street for my first Round Table meeting I never could have imagined that I was jumping headlong into a sea of friends !! It was only later that I realized that I had struck gold and in the process had made umpteen number of friends for life. After seven years I am at the verge of retiring but my mind is still replenished with flashes of fantabulous memories such as outstation trips to Shantiketan and Raichak and some cricketing trips to Delhi and Kanpur – I only wish I had played some cricket too in these trips. Anyway, Round table is not about fun and frolic only and the integral reason for this group is based on “Freedom through Education” which has been the mainstay of Round Table 34 wherein we managed to do a

lot for the underprivileged children in these past seven years and I presume with the new generation of tablers I see the task of building schools will reach new heights very soon. Being a lawyer I have a tendency to keep penning my thoughts, but I shall refrain from the same and would simply want to thank this fantastic group to have provided me with an opportunity to meet a few gems and become friends with some of them too. I wish the Table great success in the future and hope to continue to support it by whatever means possible from my end !!
