Creating creative presentations using Flipagrams and Imovies in Mrs. Peters Class

iMovie Link

Flipagram link

We have been exploring the Flipagram app in our classroom. The students will take pictures of events in the class or on a field trip (this flipagram was created at the Water Festival in Seaforth) and then add appropriate music to the presentation. The students have been working on taking pictures of different objects and using light and angles to add texture to their pictures.

Using iMovie, my students have created a number of presentations in a variety of different subject areas such as social studies, science and reading. They have explored the different aspects of the program such as adding music, sound effects, voice, slide transformations and the speed of the presentation. When the students learn a new technique, they share it with the rest of their peers at the end of the class.

Creativity in Math

During math we created our own menus for a restaurant. The students especially enjoyed naming their restaurants. After their menus were created they asked their classmates what they would like to order at their restaurant. Students then had to add up the total of the bill and calculate the change they would get if they had $20.00.

Classroom Creativity through Explain Everything! Students design, construct and try to sell toys!

Ava’s Toy Advertisement!

Students designed and constructed toys with moving parts that would incorporate examples of simple machines. After this creative exploration students were challenged to sell their toys!

Students creatively applied their new knowledge learned about media literacy while creating advertisements through Explain Everything!

to show our learning during

Daily 5 Word Work.

Our class thought that Brandon’s creative idea was so neat - the whole class began to do their word work the same way! Some recording and others just writing/displaying.

Student Creativity!

For ‘Word Work’ during Daily 5, students were challenged to record on paper as many adjectives as they could about various classroom items!

One student used Explain Everything to not only label his chosen items but to record what these items are in our classroom!

Students enjoyed having the freedom to present their research findings about Early Settlers in whatever form they chose with the only stipulation being that they must add it to their blog when they were finished. They used Pic Collage, chart paper, notebooks, or just blogged the information and then made sure it was visible on their blogs for the whole class to see.

Creativity in Grade 8 on Classroom Blogs!

Visit Our Blog Here!

Student’s are able to display their creativeness through classroom blogs! By simply posting their work to their own blog, it allows me to link to their work so we can view all of our work.1. Six Word Memoirs created by each student, with their choice of background image to represent it (PicCollage was popular!)2. Crumpled Art Paper - just like the title. Crumple a piece of paper, trace the folded lines, colour in the spaces!

3. Student’s painted two pieces of work with tempera-paint on paper. Warm colours to upbeat techno music, and cool colours to classical music. They then had to cut and weave one piece into the other. All products were fantastic!

Creativity on Student Blogs in Grade 8

Student’s enjoy displaying their final pieces of work from their chosen History Tasks. The options that they are provided with will allows them to be comfortable and confident completing each task. Sharing it with other learners gives them an opportunity for positive feedback and further encouragement to complete great pieces of work in the future. Popular Creative Apps: Pages, Google Slides, AdobeVoice, ExplainEverything.

In response to the novel “Out of My Mind”, students were asked to respond to the novel in whatever format they wanted. Nick and Dailey created an iMovie about their feelings on the meaning of the story.

After experimenting with static electricity, groups made a commercial selling their “Magic Balloons”. This particular group, used an iMovie trailer.

Poetry Cafe

At the end of our poetry unit our class had a Poetry Cafe where each student had to share one of their poems with the class. Since poetry is so visual (spacing, single words in a line, lack of grammar, etc) we wrote our favourite poems on our blogs so our peers could see them on the Smart Board while we read them aloud. Students had fun adding images and coloured fonts to express their poems even more. Many poetic styles were represented in our Poetry Cafe! It was a wonderful sharing experience. Many students also creatively read their poem to the class, using specific voices to match their style of poetry.

Creativity in Daily 5

Our Language block follows the Daily 5 program everyday. Students are free to choose any of the five stations, as long as they do each station at least once a week. They are able to use a variety

of methods to complete each station (ie., using playdough or magnets to practice spelling words). We love the freedom and

creative aspect of this program; no two students have to do something the same way. It’s our favourite time of the day!

The writing center is our favourite center. We love getting creative in

our stories, letters, and lists!

We use the iPads in our stations for many things, such as

recording our reading and look up facts for our writing!

Creativity in science...our culminating activity to “Forces on Structures” had students build an egg protector. Once dropped from a 3 metre height, about half of the eggs survived. Students shared their contraptions and results on their blogs.

2-3 Tiger Talk BlogAfter students video conferenced with the Texas Wildlife Association about hawks, they were curious to know the actual size of a hawk’s nest so we decided to create them in real life. Highly creative ideas of how to build them, how to measure them, and how to work together followed.

Here Carson is proud to show his art and the Haiku poem that he wrote to go with it.

In this activity he explains the different points of view,of those who may be involved in this experience at the hockey game. He used the Adobe Voice app.

Design Your Own HomeFind the Area and PerimeterStudents were given the task of designing their own house. (floor plan) They were given specific success criteria for their homes. Once their home was designed they had to find the area and perimeter of it. Many students chose to draw it on chart paper. One group knew of an app called “Home Design 3-D” and designed their home this way. Everyone was engaged! Grade 4 Under Sea Blog

IN KINDERGARTEN: Using I-Movies creates a window into our students thinking and dramatic flare without interrupting their play.

Everything we have been discussing, singing, and learning about creating dramatic expression comes out in our play.

We can sequentially retell a fictional story. We can also enjoy the audiences reaction to our presentation when we are able to share it with our class and with our families.

Using Adobe Voice our youngest learners are able to hear themselves explain their great ideas! This sparks a desire amongst the class to do the same and share their ideas. This has been a great way to develop our oral communication skills, especially for special needs students and children with speech delays. This bridged a gap for this student who does not like speaking in front of others.

Letting students know that their learning will be shared on the blog with the world and their community initiates a different level of creativity in daily activities. After watching a video for earth day about reusing materials, our students were eager to show the world all the great ways that they could reuse materials to make important items.

Creativity

Everyone in our class loves having the freedom during Work on Writing to write about what they want. The excitement of having the audience associated with the blog adds to their creativity. They write about anything and everything.
