Located at the entrance of the Gulf of Mexico, in the Caribbean Sea, the Republic of Cuba is an archipelago made up of the Isla de Cuba, the Isla de la Juventud (special municipality) and 4 195 cays and islets in total reach an area of 110 922 km2. The nearest countries are Haiti, United States, Jamaica and Mexico.
