Good afternoon and welcome to the Kirkintilloch Rob Roy management, players, committee
and supporters to Townhead Park for today’s West Region Super Premiership league match.
Rob Roy have had a tough season but Stewart Maxwell will certainly have his side fired up
for today’s game. Stewart is a person and manager I have a lot of respect for and I always
enjoy our games together. We know we will need to be at our best if we are to succeed
today.
In our last performance against Pollok, I was very pleased with a positive and very
encouraging team performance against my former club, who are a strong and formidable
team in their home ground. We matched their physicality, took the game to them from the off
and I was delighted we won the game late with a great header from Greg Ferry. I thought we
were the better team in the game, competed strongly from the off and had a good compact
shape and discipline throughout the game. I was delighted with the team and in particular
another clean sheet. We had several excellent performances within the team with GK Kieran
Hughes and our back 4 solid, our midfield won their battle in there with Paul Burns excelling
and our front pairing always looked dangerous and lively. It really was a strong, disciplined
and great team performance and I hope the fans enjoyed the win as much as the dressing
room did on the day! My players could be very pleased and proud of their performance with a
well deserved 3 points at a intimidating venue. That’s 4 clean sheets in a row now for the
team and we hope to continue this momentum going into today’s match.

In terms of changes at the club, we welcome David Smith to the club from Stranraer who is
an experienced and excellent addition to the squad. Div has many years experience playing
at a much higher level in the Scottish Championship, and Division 1 & 2 with the likes of
Hearts, Raith Rovers and Falkirk. He had a solid debut as substitute against Kilbirnie and
had a very good game at Pollok against a top player in Gary McCann at this level.
We have also been working hard to secure the services of existing players going forward.
Alan Murdoch has signed a 2 year contract extension, as has recent match winner Greg
Ferry. I am also pleased that Kyle Faulds has signed a extension to his contract which ties
him to the club until the end of next season.
In the background, Mark and I will continually work diligently to look to bring more quality
players to the club.
Please support the players loudly & positively this afternoon as we try to win another vital 3
points!
Enjoy the game #ATNTony

Rob Roy have had a season to forget so far, having only amassed 6 points
from 16 games.
Manager Stewart Maxwell (left) will be hoping his side can do better in
their remaining 14 games of the season, but it would be a minor
miracle if they were to avoid relegation.
The Rabs will be looking to restore some pride and avenge the 2-0
defeat they suffered to Cumnock at Guy’s Meadow back in August.
Nickname: The Rabs
Pollok 0 – 1 CumnockThere was late, late drama in our last match at Newlandsfield Park as Cumnock’s GregFerry headed in a fine winner in the 89th minute to seal a thoroughly deserved 3 pointsagainst second placed Pollok.
Cumnock headed to Glasgow looking to record their 4th clean sheet in as many gamesand to continue their unbeaten run. Ironically Pollok were the last team to scoreagainst the Nock back on the 28th of December.
Tony McInally made one change to the side that drew 0-0 at Kilbirnie last week, incame new loan signing David Smith at left back with Steven Crawford dropping to thebench. Skipper Alan Murdoch is still not fully fit after nursing a niggling injury. Thegame kicked off in blustery conditions with the home team having the wind advantagein the first half. Not that this was evident as it was Cumnock who were creating theearly openings. After fine work by Ryan Caddis he played in youngster Jamie Connwho turned and shot only to see Lok keeper Jordan Longmuir make a fine save. As thehalf progressed there wasn’t much in the way of goalmouth action in either box.Pollok’s Stuart McCann flashed an effort just wide of Kieran Hughes’ post after 25minutes and then the big keeper produced a save which can only be described asbreathtaking. A long ball by Mark Sideserf was then centred and McCann volleyed atgoal from point blank range. Hughes at full stretch, somehow managed to get a stronghand to the shot and turn it over the crossbar. His clean sheet record remaining intact, hes yet to concede a goal as Cumnock keeper.

Match report by Alan Orr
Cumnock, now with the wind behind them were controlling much of the game. PaulBurns, Kyle Faulds and Owen Bell were having fine games in Cumnock’s midfield andAndy Dowie and Ruaridh McIntyre at the back never lost a header all afternoon. Infact Pollok swapped both strikers during the second half. With the game drawing to aclose it looked like a solitary goal would capture all 3 points. With minutes remainingCumnock forced a corner down the right hand side which was cleared for anothercorner, this time from the left hand side. Paul Burns took his time taking the cornerknowing it could be the last action of the game. Burns delivered expertly andsubstitute Greg Ferry found enough room to bullet home a header and take all threeprecious points back down the M77.

Kick-off times in the William Hill Scottish Cup Fifth Round were delayed by one minute to encourageplayers, staff and supporters alike to engage in conversation around mental health.
The initiative is part of the Scottish FA’s support for the ‘Heads Up’ mental health campaign andcoincided with ‘Heads Up Weekend’, which was intended to highlight the importance of encouragingconversation about mental health.
With support from 16 teams across eight fixtures, beginning with Rangers’ visit to Hamilton, thedelayed kick-off times were not only aimed at removing the stigma around discussing mental healthbut also to highlight the support available to people across the country.
The initiative comes after research from Heads Up revealed that male fans are three times more likelyto talk about football than they are mental health.
The survey of 2,014 football fans, carried out by Censuswide, showed:
• Football is the number one topic of conversation (75 percent) between fans and their friends
• However, only 1 in 3 football fans regularly talk about mental health with their friends – with malefans much less likely to do so (27 percent of male respondents, compared to 47 percent of women).Overall, male football fans were more than three times more likely to talk about football than mentalhealth with their friends (83 percent, compared with 27 percent).
• Meanwhile, 40 percent of football fans find it easiest to talk about their mental health while busywith other activities – such as while walking or running, driving, going to the pub, or watching sportswith a friend. Meanwhile 32 percent would find it easiest to have a face to face conversation at homewith no distractions.
Spearheaded by The Duke of Cambridge, the season-long campaign brings together UK FootballAssociations with Football teams in England also participating this weekend as football unites to sparka national conversation.
Scottish FA Chief Executive Ian Maxwell said: “We were proud to support the Heads Up campaignacross the Scottish Cup, using the prominent platform the competition provides to raise awareness ofthe importance of talking about mental health. Delaying kick-off times by a minute hopefully unitedfans around a common goal for a brief period and encouraged open conversation about this vitallyimportant issue.”
Fans are encouraged to join the conversation using #KickOffAConversation and #HeadsUp. Find outmore by visiting www.headstogether.org.uk/Heads-Up. For immediate support, text ‘HeadsUp’ to85258 to connect with a trained crisis volunteer – a service run by ‘Shout’ and powered by Crisis TextLine, which is available 24/7 and free to text from most mobile networks, or contact Breathing Spaceon 0800 83 85 87.

How are you feeling now that you are back in the side after coming back from injury?Feeling good and strong. After a good run in the team and multiple 90mins I'm confident the ankle is fine. Now all my focus is on keeping fit and getting sharper.
What would you say is your biggest achievement so far in the game?My biggest achievement so far would be representing my county at University level and winning the home nations tournament against England, Wales and Ireland a few years ago.
www.cumnockjuniors.com
Growing up, who was your all-time favourite footballer and why?Has to be Zidane, he was a special player. He played football like no other I've ever seen. Everything was effortless and graceful and I still enjoy watching videos of him today.
What are your pre-match thoughts ahead of today’s match against Rob Roy?Firstly our current form is brilliant. Keeping 4 consecutive clean sheets is amazing in this league, especially when we have had to shuffle personnel every game. So if we can take our chances and keep our concentration, I think we can win the game.
