64 Tile prototype Sipm/Pcb

• We have looked into a simple design for a Pc board.

• It contains 64 Sipms and 4 temperature sensors. 8mil trace with 8 mil spaces.

• schematic with 2 possible connectors.

• PCB layout on one layer with differential traces.

• For our first approach we select a Microstrip design with 2 layer PC board.

• 51 ohms when using 8 mil trace , half once copper and 5 mil thick height.

• We have looked into placing the Sipms into a Pc board at different angles.

• Different angles of Sipm in 2mm PCB

• PCB with 3x3 tiles with only 4 tiles shown

• Single tile from top with fiber bending and Sipm exposed at edge of board.

• Tile from side shows a fiber terminating on an Sipm and beginning midpoint on other side. Fiber meets at angle with some light loss.

• Sip at small angle contacting fiber..

• We are currently producing a mock up of the 64 tile board with 4 different test holes for the Sipm.

• It appears that there are no real difficult electrical problems.

• We are looking at some of the limitations to the mechanical assembly.
