Dr. Debasish Sur
Professor of Commerce

Dr Debasish Sur is Professor at the Department of Commerce of the University of Burdwan, West Bengal. He did his M.Com (Gold Medalist) in 1990 , M.Phil ( Topper ) in 1993 and Ph.D (Human Resource Accounting ) in 2002 from the University of Burdwan. He obtained his B.Com ( Hons. ) degree from the same University in 1988 and stood first in the first class. He has over 17 years of teaching experience at the post-graduate level. He is a life member of the Indian Accounting Association, Indian Commerce Association and International Business Studies Academia. He is also an invited member of various academic bodies in different universities in India. Professor Sur has so far contributed more than 60 papers in reputed professional and academic journals. He has authored one book in the area of Cost Accounting published by the University of Burdwan and one book in the area of Financial Management published by Book Syndicate Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata. Dr Sur has also penned a book entitled “Financial Statement Analysis: A Comprehensive Approach” published by Excel Books, New Delhi. He has acted as visiting faculty in different universities in India like Tripura Central University, University of North Bengal, University of Gour Bango etc. Under his supervision 7 researchers and 20 scholars have completed their Ph.D and M.Phil degrees respectively. Dr Sur has attended many seminars and conferences in India and abroad and also acted as chairperson in several national seminars. His areas of interest include Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Performance Measurement, Corporate Financial Management, International Accounting etc.
