ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

• Chair of the Romanian Society of Political Science (SRSP), 2000-2005

Initiator, in January 2000, of the only active professional association in the field of political science in Romania. SRSP membership increased from the initial 34 to more than 100 in December 2005. Members are PhDs or PhD candidates in political and other social sciences, teaching and researching in Romania or abroad.

Co-organizer of the SRSP main event: The Annual Conferences (Bucharest, September 2000, Timişoara, October 2001, Cluj, October 2002, Bucharest, September 2003, Bucharest, July 2004, Oradea, November 2005), organizer of workshops and seminars with national and international participation.

• Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Director (2001-2004) of the Invisible College Bucharest. Centre for Advanced Studies and Research in Political Science - an alternative research-oriented teaching structure providing tutorship, a close relationship between teacher and student, resources and a friendly environment for political research – a SRSP project funded and supported by The American Embassy in Romania.

As a member of the Editorial Board of POLIS, I have edited special issues on political culture and citizenship (Vol. 3, No. 3-4), post-communist transitions (Vol. 4, No. 2), the Romanian-born British political scientist Ghiţă Ionescu (Vol. 6, No. 3).

• Executive Editor (since 2002) and Member of the Editorial Board (since

January 2001) of the bi-annual Romanian Journal of Society and Politics.

As a member of the Editorial Board of Romanian Journal of Society and Politics, I am a regular reviewer of the articles submitted to the Journal on the subject of Romanian politics.

• Founding Member and Member of the Board of Directors of the Institute

for Political and Economic Research (IPER), Bucharest (since February 1999).

I have initiated the affiliation of IPER at the European Thematic Network for Political Science (TN), later European Political Science Network
