Damixa was founded in 1932 in New Jersey and was a part of the group Smith & Co (SCO), which was known for producing motor-cycles. Initially Damixa produced portholes and frying pans, but one day the then Director met an exciting manufacturer of single-lever faucets in New York. It was in 1966, and Damixa immediately grabbed the opportunity to become the first European manufactu-rer of single-lever faucets. Faucets replaced motorcycle parts and frying pans, and over the years Damixa has evolved into an inter-national player with a focus on beautiful Danish design,functionality and usability from the consumers perspective.

what characterises all Damixa’s many taps. that part will never

change, but new design variations and functions are added all

the time.

“When you buy a tap from Damixa, you say yes to stylish

Danish design that is very durable and to a product that we

have made great efforts to ensure is both logical and easy to

use,” says Lars Bladt, Managing Director of Damixa.

But the design detail and the number of functions are up to

each consumer.

“our range is both very wide and very deep. this means that

you can choose a tap that exactly matches the style you have

chosen for your home. this may be a very minimalistic pro-

duct that fits well with a quite austere interior design style or a

more classic product for an older and more formal house. We

know that consumers these days view taps as both a functional

device for everyday use and a design element – which is why

Damixa meets both these requirements,” explains Lars Bladt.

Newsin this inspiration catalogue, we present two new, premium

representatives of the many choices Damixa offers consu-

mers: the slim and feminine Willow tap and the slate model

which, with its stylish design, has a clean and slightly rustic

feel. Many more exciting new products will be launched by

Damixa in the coming year.

User-friendlinessLike some of Damixa’s other taps, the new slate model in-

cludes the special X-change™ unit which makes it extremely

easy to replace the tap at any point in the future. When the

X-change™ unit has been installed, it is easy for any non-

specialist to replace the Damixa tap in just 20 seconds. All

you need is an Allen key.

“our tap units are durable and last for many years, but an

increasing number of our customers want to change their

taps after a while to achieve a new look. We had this in

mind when we developed the X-change™ unit. this means

that our taps are also attractive to hotels and other larger

organisations which need to replace their taps on a regular

basis,” explains Lars Bladt.

Optional featuressome customers want many features included in their taps,

e.g. in the kitchen, while others want to keep things simple.

“We know that our customers’ requirements for features vary

a great deal and our range takes that into account. it may be

that a customer needs a tap in the kitchen with built-in spray

function to rinse fresh vegetables while that same customer

would choose a simple and beautiful tap like Willow for a tall

porcelain basin in the bathroom,” says Lars Bladt who is look-

ing forward to presenting Damixa’s many exciting tap options

in 2011.

Anti-scaldingSafety for little fingers!”Anti-scalding” is an adjustable temperature limi-ter which ensures that it is never possible to run water that is so hot that it might injure and scald someone. the limiter takes effect at 38 degrees celcius. As a bonus effect it also saves energy, which is good for the enviroment.

eco-saveSave water with Eco-save…A water saving feature that is activated and adjusted on a small screw on the ceramic cartridge. You can save up to 25-30 % of your normal water usage, which benefits both you and the environment.

There is the very slender and tall model, allso called WilloW Piccolo, whose body has a diameter of 35 – significantly less than conventional taps. WilloW is also available in a slightly heavier model with con-ventional dimensions – ideal for kitchens and utility rooms as well as for bathrooms with sunken basins. “In our products, we make environmental choices and reuse materials. This also applies to the eva-luation of existing products and the development of new ones where we think in terms of life cycles.

we have a shared responsibility to the environment and that is why we also ensure that consumers choosing our products are given detailed instruc-tions in the environmental aspects of using and disposing of our products,” explains Lars Bladt.

The environment plays a central role at Damixa. “Things need to form a synthesis. we need to show consideration for the environment while focusing on superior design, functionality and pre-mium quality. we would like to give consumers all over the world an excellent experience for many years – also when they need to replace a Damixa product and dispose of it with a clean conscience,” says Lars Bladt.

water is a scarce resource. The earth’s popula-

tion has increased three-fold in the past century

while water consumption has risen seven-fold.

ducts that give consumers a great shower or

washing experience while reducing water con-

Talented designers personify Damixa

ArkitemaDesign Manager Anne Qvist from the well-known danish

architects practice Arkitema, is the woman behind Damixa’s

Profile taps – beautiful minimalism for kitchens, bathrooms

and showers. Based on Arkitema’s philosophy of creating

cohesion between the product and its surroundings, Anne

Qvist has designed a modern classic suitable for both old

and new homes.

Anne Qvist says about her design of Profile: “I love good

quality and I love everything that is simple and stylistically

consistent. This was the basis for the Profile range which

suits the times we are living in. We are busy in our everyday

lives. We want to surround ourselves with good design and

things just need to work every time. With Profile you know

that the whole concept has really been thought through and

that brings joy in everyday life.”

to ensure that we both fulfil and exceed consumer expectation,” explains Berit Linde Jessen,

G-Type

Arc

Damixas own designersDamixa itself also has plenty of talent in its Design Department. Damixas designers wondered why water could only run downwards from a tap when it made practical sense for it to be able to run upwards as well – for example if you want a drink of water. Damixa changed this notion with the Arc tap range. The spout can be turned from side to side and up and down to make it easy, for example, to get water into the cor-ners of the sink when you need to clean it or fill a pan with water. The many features and remarkable design of the tap range have won two international awards.

“We where interested in combining the many functional options with a simple and stylistically consistent look which is so typical of good Danish design. That is why we here at Damixa, for the first time ever, used a joy-stick as a handle and artificial covering which is pleasant to the touch and clearly indicates where you need to grip to operate the product,” explains Lars Hansen VP sourcing & engineering.

White and Red – ready to switchThe Arc series is available in a pure Chromeversion

and in Chrome with Black, soft plastic coating on the

handle and spout. In addition, you can buy loose plastic

coatings in White and Red, which the consumer very

easy and quickly can switch. If the interest is high,

Damixa will launch more colors later. In this way, the

tap can change expression when you want

new colors and styles in your

Kitchen or bathroom.

GneissgroupGneissgroup is a Copenhagen design company with wild

ideas and a hankering for innovation. The result of the

first partnership between Gneissgroup and Damixa was

the simple and ingenious G-Type range which has won an

international design award.

Designer Mikal Harrsen and architect Torben Jørgensen

from Gneissgroup contacted Damixa themselves with

the basic idea for the G-Type range – and the concept

generated such enthusiasm in our Design Department

that they immediately threw themselves into it.
