“You have been commissioned by the Northern echo to produce a new magazine or
newspaper product. Your product could be in any style or genre but it must be self
finance through sales or advertising. You must also produce your magazine for specific audience segment within the 16-25 age
group.”
My brief:
Step 1
Create a magazine that is suitable for ABC1 audience that the Northern Echo target.
Step 2
Create a magazine which is the high quality that Northern Echo readers expect, by employing highly qualified journalists and staff.
Step 3
Created a magazine of the genre ‘dance’ which a topic for young people in the 16-25 age group.
How I intend to meet the brief:
Step 4
Chose a genre of magazine that there is a gap in the market for, and is commercially viable.
Step 5
Make a make a magazine that is self financed through sales and advertising.
How I intend to meet the brief:
WHY DANCE?
★ I have previous dance knowledge after dancing for 12 years.
★ I am passionate about dance so I enjoy researching and writing about it.
★ There is a clear gap in the market for a hybrid magazine including both women's lifestyle & dance.
★ Current dance magazines aren't personal. They won’t involved activities which my TA enjoy doing away from dancing.
★ I have the same needs and interests as my target audience.
★ Female audience.
★ BC1 Socioeconomic status.
★ Tribe- Dancing Socialiser.
★ Education status - Sixth Form - TA wants to progress onto Higher Education.
★ Disposable income. Able to fund magazine purchases.
★ Not the stereotypically C2/D socioeconomic state.
