Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Define a dashboard in Salesforce.

Create a dashboard.

Add a dashboard to your home page.

What is a Dashboard?

A dashboard is a:

Visual representation of key business information.

Salesforce object that allows you to pull business information directly from custom

reports that you or your company create.

Real-time snapshot of corporate metrics and key performance indicators.

Group of different charts that graphically display your custom report data.

What Makes Up a Dashboard?

Dashboards are made up of several components. Components can be charts,

tables, metrics, and gauges.

Chart

Graphically represents report data on multiple axes.

Derives its values and labels from the report builder.

Table

Lists the top or bottom records from a report.

Captures information on the top 10 performers, deals, or leader boards.

Metric

Metric is a single data value that comes from the grand total of a report and

Gauge.

Gauge

Gauge is a single data value displayed as a point on a defined spectrum.

The Chart Component

You can create following types of charts in a dashboard:

Horizontal Bar

Vertical Column

Line

Pie

Donut

Funnel

Scatter

Creating a Dashboard

Create a Dashboard(Here is where you can do a demonstration.)

Refreshing Dashboards

You can always manually refresh dashboards.

Your administrator can schedule dashboard refreshes, and email you the results.

In this course, you learned that:

A dashboard is simply a visual representation of key business information.

A dashboard is composed of different components, such as charts, tables,

and metrics, to graphically display your custom report data.

When you create a chart dashboard, you can display the data in horizontal

form, vertical column form, line form, or pie form.

Dashboards need to be refreshed to display the latest values.

Customize Page link in the Dashboard section.
