Lion The lion is actually a very powerful cat. It is the second largest living cat after the tiger.
People are frightened of it because it is very strong. If it is attacked it can harm
humans. Lions are found in very hot areas and also in cool places. Lions live in small
groups. Each of this group is called a pride. A pride of lions consists of males,
females and children (cubs). They live for 1014 years in the wild, while in captivity
they can live longer than 20 years. The lion is called the king of the jungle. When we go
to a zoo we see many lions. They attract the audience very much.

Akbar and Birbal
A learned Pandit once visited the court of Akbar. He told the king and his courtiers that he
had mastery over many different languages. The Pandit could speak many languages
fluently. He challenged everybody at the court to name his mother tongue. When everyone
failed, the challenge was taken up by Birbal. That night, Birbal went quietly to the Pandits
room when he was asleep. He whispered into the Pandits ear and tickled it with a feather.
