• SunWork is a nonprofit that’s helping to expand rooftop solar in the SF Bay Area

• SunWork professionals train volunteers who then help install rooftop PV systems for homeowners with low electricity bills & for nonprofits (such as schools)

• SunWork’s nonprofit approach cuts costs by up to 30% (compared to for-profits)

• This Internship provides hands-on rooftop and mechanical integration experience for future green-collar workers

• You MUST be enrolled in Energy Management classes to qualify for this Internship

• Many installations are in Santa Clara Valley

• Sunnyvale LED Streetlight Internship- In Progress- Start Jan 2015- end March 2015– Learning Opportunity:

• Understanding how light affects what we see• Measuring Horizontal and Vertical Illuminance, Horizontal

Luminance, Light Color Temperature, simulation modeling in AGI 32 Industry standard software, generation of final report, presentation to Sunnyvale City Council

• Purpose: Reduce energy use, reduce energy and maintenance costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce light pollution and light trespass, improve public safety.

Other Energy Management Internship Opportunities

• School district building audits- April 2015- June 2015– Learning Opportunity:

• Assist local school district by measuring and benchmarking energy use in 12 different school buildings

• Measuring lighting, HVAC and electric plug use, measuring renewable energy offsets, energy benchmarking, strategic energy management planning, payback analysis on improvements

• Purpose: make school buildings more energy efficient, improve the environment by reducing energy waste, provide more money for educational programs in K-12 classrooms
