PurposeandMethodologyThedatainthefollowingreportisintendedtoprovideusefulinformationaboutthepreviousexperiencesofOSUstudentslivingintheoff-campusarea.Thisisdonethroughsurveyingandevaluatingtheperceivedlevelofservicetenantsreceivedfromtherentalcompanies.Surveyparticipantswereaskedtocompleteonlinequestionsrelevanttotheirexperiencewiththeirrespectivelandlordfromthepreviousyear.Wehopethatyouwillutilizethisguidetohelpyoumakeaninformeddecisionwhenchoosingalandlord.AnexcellentresourceforrelatedleasinginformationisOffCampusandCommuterStudentServices,locatedinroom3106oftheOhioUnion.ThereisasectionoutliningtheirresourcesattheendofthisGuide.TheUndergraduateStudentGovernmentRenter’sGuidesurveywasadministeredbytheCenterfortheStudyofStudentLifeinSeptemberof2018toundergraduatestudentswholivedoff-campusinthepreviousyear.Thesampleincluded2,000undergraduatestudents.Thesurveyyielded550validresponses,orapproximatelya27.5%responserate.TheUndergraduateStudentGovernmentwouldliketosincerelythankeveryonewhorespondedtothisyear’ssurvey.DisclaimerInpublishingthisinformation,neithertheUndergraduateStudentGovernmentnorTheOhioStateUniversityendorseorsupportanycompanyorbusinessoveranyother;thissurveysimplyprovidesadirectreportoftenantopinions.Becausethedatacontainedinthissectionreflectsopinions,differentinterpretationsarepossible.Theabovementionedorganizationsassumenoresponsibilityforreader,tenant,orprospectivetenantinterpretationorreactiontothedata.Nothingincludedinthedataisintendedtogivelegaladvice.Ifyouhaveanyquestionsregardingthelaworitsapplicationinacertainsituation,wesuggestyouconsultStudentLegalServices(studentlegal.osu.edu)oranotherattorneyservice.
