his little piece was written by humoristredneck Je Foxworthy and appears in one o hisbooks rom 1996. As or whether it’s a true story ornot, Foxworthy says on the opening page o his website regarding his material: “here’s my lie story(only 50% o it lies).”

As  a joke, my brother used to hang a pair opanty hose over his ireplace beore Christmas. Hesaid all he wanted was or Santa to ill them. Whatthey say about Santa checking the list twice mustbe true because every Christmas morning, althoughJay’s kids’ stockings were overlowed, his poorpantyhose hung sadly empty.

One year I decided to make his dream come true. I

put on sunglasses and went in search o an in latablelove doll. hey don’t sell those things at Wal-Mart. Ihad to go to an adult bookstore downtown. I you’venever been in an X-rated store, don’t go. You’ll onlyconuse yoursel. I was there an hour saying thingslike, “What does this do?” “You’re kidding me!”“Who would buy that?” Finally, I made it to theinlatable doll section. I wanted to buy a standard, uncomplicated doll that could also substitute as apassenger in my truck so I could use the car poollane during rush hour. Finding what I wanted was

diicult. Love dolls come in many dierent models.he top o the line, according to the side o the box, could do things I’d only seen in a book on animalhusbandry. I settled or ‘Lovable Louise.” She was atthe bottom o the price scale. o call Louise a “doll”took a huge leap o imagination.

On Christmas Eve, with the help o an old bicyclepump, Louise came to lie. My sister-in-law was inon the plan and let me in during the wee morning

hours, long ater Santa had come and gone, I illedthe dangling pantyhose with Louise’s pliant legs andbottom. I also ate some cookies and drank whatremained o a glass o milk on a nearby tray. I wenthome, and giggled or a couple o hours. he nextmorning my brother called to say that Santa hadbeen to his house and let a present that had madehim VERY happy but had let the dog conused. Shewould bark, start to walk away, then come back andbark some more.

We all agreed that Louise should remain in her pantyhose so the rest o the amily could admire her whenthey came over or the traditional Christmas dinner. My grandmother noticed Louise the moment shewalked in the door. “What the hell is that?” sheasked. My brother quickly explained, “It’s a doll.”

“Who would play with something like that?” Grannysnapped. I had several candidates in mind, but keptmy mouth shut. “Where are her clothes?” Grannycontinued. “Boy, that turkey sure smells nice, Gran,”Jay said, trying to steer her into the dining room. But Granny was relentless. “Why doesn’t she haveany teeth?” Again, I could have answered, but whywould I? It was Christmas and no one wanted toride in the back o the ambulance saying,”Hang onGranny! Hang on!” My grandather, a delightul old

man with poor eyesight, sidled up to me and said,“Hey, who’s the naked gal by the ireplace?” I toldhim she was Jay’s riend.

A ew minutes later I noticed Grandpa by the mantel, talking to Louise. Not just talking, but actuallylirting. It was then that we realized this might beGrandpa’s last Christmas at home.

he dinner went well. We made the usual small talkabout who had died, who was dying, and who shouldbe killed, when suddenly Louise made a noise thatsounded a lot like my ather in the bathroom in themorning. hen she lurched rom the panty hose, lewaround the room twice, and ell in a heap in ront othe soa. he cat screamed. I passed cranberry saucethrough my nose, and Grandpa ran across the room, ell to his knees, and began administering mouth tomouth resuscitation. My brother ell back over hischair and wet his pants and Granny threw down hernapkin, stomped out o the room, and sat in the car.

It was indeed a Christmas to treasure and remember.

Later in my brother’s garage, we conducted athorough examination and ound the cause oLouise’s collapse. We discovered that Louise hadsuered rom a hot amber to the back o her rightthigh. Fortunately, thanks to a wonder drug calledduct tape, we restored her to perect health. Louisewent on to star in several bachelor party movies. Ithink Grandpa still calls her whenever he can getout o the house.
