Another year ended, Another Christmas to celebrate, Another New Year full of hopes and

wishes…

As we wrap up the year 2012 here at Youth Business Trust Belize, we are thankful for our

partners, our supporters and our young aspiring Belizeans. Amidst a world full of crime, hate

and violence we are still able to make a difference, still able to inspire hope, still very clear

on just how important YBTB is as an avenue of opportunity and support to our young

(potential) entrepreneurs.

I would like to hail this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Belize celebrations as the 2012 initiative

that solidified YBTB’s mission “As the leading youth entrepreneurship organization in Belize, YBTB trans-

forms young lives by cultivating their innovative ideas and investing in their enterprise capabilities contrib-

uting to socially responsible economic development.”

Throughout this edition of the Entrepreneur Review, there are pictures and summaries of the hugely successful

celebration of entrepreneurship, primarily youth entrepreneurship, which YBTB spearheaded this year. It was

such an infectious feeling of joy, to watch young Belizeans of all ages pour themselves into their projects using

their skills, creativity and innovativeness in a spirit of competition and for the promotion of entrepreneurship.

This edition is a tribute to the enterprise capabilities of our youth!

So, as the year 2012 draws to a close and as the New Year dawns, I, on behalf of myself and our Board of Di-

rectors, invite all Belizeans to join YBTB in the pursuit of its mission, let’s make youth entrepreneurship and

the transformation of young lives a personal priority …

Make supporting Youth Business Trust Belize part of your New Year’s resolution and in so doing contribute to

socially responsible economic development in Belize. We must continue to drive entrepreneurship forward…

Merry Christmas and may your New Year be joyous and prosperous!

Greetings from the Manager

Ms. Deanna Gomez

General Manager

Cesar Gonzalez, Lead Guitarist, Ascenthium

“We are a rock band and we are trying to introduce rock to

Belize, but the way we are trying to do it is different from

other rock bands. We started off with acoustic guitars to show

what we actually have and then slowly advanced to a few

other members—we included electric guitars. We didn’t go

straight into hard rock. We provided smooth sultry music so

that people could listen to the soft side of us.

Dina Halsall, Bassist, Ascenthium

“I think it is about time for people to recognize that rock music is a genre in

the country and it’s been here for a while. I mean in Orange Walk, in Coro-

zal, in Cayo, people listen to it; they really enjoy it. And I think it needs to be

put out there in a way that people can swallow it but at the same time with the

depth that it actually carries.”

With assistance from Youth Business Trust Belize, Ascenthium Rock Band was able to acquire new instru-

ments.

Ascenthium Rock Band recently won Channel 5’s “Be the Next Superstar”.

We Welcome Ascenthium Rock Band to the YBTB family!
