Advent Day of Reflection: Behold the Lamb of God,

Saturday, December 14, 2013

9:00 a.m. - Noon in the Chapel

Led by Rev'ds. Ginny Sheay and James Wells, Susan Wells and Mary Miller. We shall rediscover through Advent hymns, like O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, just how beautiful and mystical the Incarnation is and how these hymns are steeped in prayer, scripture, poetry and story. Have you ever paused to dwell on the texts? It is fair to say that music and poetry can communicate before it is understood; it is that thin place where we can come into communion and relationship with God. We know the place because we have been there and have been touched by the Holy One. In our time together we will experience that sacred place more deeply. A sign-up sheet is located in the Narthex on the bulletin board.

Pearl Street Christmas Giving

TYG is continuing its tradition of sponsoring gift giving for the children of Pearl Street. If you would like to provide for the same child/children as you have in the past, please contact Steve Wilson ASAP so that their names are not placed on the tree for selection. If you prefer to have TYG shop for a child, monetary donations are welcome. If you have any questions or would like to assist, please let either Steve Wilson or Charlotte de Jesus know. We would welcome your help!

Christmas Decorating for the Church

It is almost time again to decorate the church for the Christmas season. This year we would like to reflect the personalities of our church families on our tree that will be in McArthur Hall. If you would like to have your family represented on the tree, please bring an ornament and place it in the basket in the narthex. We will be glad to return them to you, just let us know. The tree will most likely go up the first week of December for all to enjoy. If you would like to help decorate keep an eye out information to come soon!

Help with our Christmas tradition by providing poinsettias and greenery for the church. You may memorialize your donation in honor of or in memory of someone special. Use the forms that are provided on the narthex table and kindly have the form submitted by Sunday, December 15th.

Trinity Episcopal Church Chapel - Storyteller Anna P. Wyman will read...... 'A Christmas Carol'- By Charles Dickens

This classic Christmas story takes place in London during the reign of Queen Victoria. Ebenezer Scrooge is known to everyone as a mean and unkind man. Then late one Christmas Eve, the ghost of his old partner Jacob Marley appears and warns him that he must change his ways....... Miracle takes place in Trinity Church CHAPEL December 8, 2013 at 9:50 a.m. Welcome youngsters, parents, grandparents and all! Benvenuto!

Happy Holidays Ladies Luncheon

Ladies, Are you free for lunch on Wednesday, December 11? Please come to Trinity for a simple holiday meal for Trinity members, friends, and neighbors. Do you know someone who might really appreciate an invitation to lunch... maybe a senior who lives alone, or someone who has given up driving? The clients of Central Buck Meals on Wheels often say that visiting with the volunteers who deliver their meals is a very bright spot in their day; they are delighted to share in simple conversation with people from the "outside world". So, at this holiday time, we're arranging to have some Meals on Wheels clients join us too. Please RSVP to the church office (215-297-5135) by Friday, Dec 6 if you would like to come, alone or with a guest. If you need transportation, let us know. If you would like to help, let us know that too. The luncheon will be in McArthur Hall from 12:00-1:30pm. Contact Ardith Talbott with any questions [email protected] or 215-862-1487). Hope to see you there!

Aid for Friends next get together is scheduled for Thursday, Dec 12 at 9:00 am. We know that there is a

huge demand on your time and treasure at this time of year but we would love to have you join us for an hour

Spiritual Healthcare

- Gary Wilmore, Treasurer

With all of the confusion in the news focused on healthcare issues, consider this: a simple pledge to Trinity provides you and your family with the satisfaction of knowing your spiritual well-being is in good standing.

Membership in the Trinity community means more than having a beautiful place of worship; keeping the lights on; and a joyful weekly gathering of

fellowship with your friends and neighbors. Our Trinity community has a proud heritage of welcoming all people, sharing a common Christian faith in support of each other and extending that support to other communities in need, locally or around the world. Our fundraising efforts are legendary; lobsterfest; house tour; cookies! Our volunteer participation, youth group activities and mission works are excellent examples of our willingness to fulfill the charge to go forth and spread the love of Christ to the world. Mission Philadelphia, D.V.I.C., Lambertville Food Pantry, Peacemeal, Tabasamu, Pearl Street Christmas Gifts, and numerous Music Programs are only a few of the ways Trinity participates in the communities around us. Take pride in you membership. Thank you for your participation. If you've made your pledge, thanks. If you haven't made your pledge, consider doing so! Spiritual Healthcare isn't in the news but it's a coverage we all benefit from.

The Giving of Care

Do you know a Trinity member who is perhaps housebound, or who could benefit from contact by the caregiving ministry of Trinity? Perhaps he/she would enjoy a visit, delivery of flowers, or a meal? Please contact Elaine Crooks, 215-534-7200; [email protected].

Building Community Through Summer Camps in the Diocese of Haiti, Region du Nord

by Kyle Stewart Evans In my summer article about my work in the Region du Nord of the Diocese of Haiti (REGN), I made reference to the inaugural women's camp and young adult camp focused on leadership development. Both were wonderfully successful and I wanted to share some of the highlights. (Due to space contraints please contact the church office for a copy of Kyle’s full report) Staying in Touch Continued thanks for your weekly prayers for the ministry of REGN and me. Please know that Trinity remains in my ongoing thoughts and prayers. In addition to occasional articles in the "Tidings", pieces in the DIOPA magazine "Where It All Began..." and convention material, parishioners can follow my work and ministry through my blog, www.haitibonjou.blogspot.com, or periodically find photos posted on Facebook. If you are interested in exploring how you might become involved with my efforts in Haiti, please contact me at [email protected]. In addition, you can contact two members of my Missioner Support and Advisory Group, Cindy Bove, [email protected] , or Ann Koberna, [email protected], for further information. I will be home over the Christmas holidays and hope to see many of you on Christmas Eve. Benedictions!
