JUBILEE OF MERCY IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF TORONTO
The Jubilee of Mercy was announced by Pope Francis as a year to be lived intensely in each local Church throughout the world, allowing every person to encounter the mercy of God. The most evident sign of this pastoral care is the chance to open a Door of Mercy in every diocese. These doors, analogous to the Holy Doors of the Papal Basilicas in Rome, will allow people who cannot travel to Rome to make a Jubilee pilgrimage. Designated churches for the Jubilee with a Holy Door of Mercy: St. Paul’s Basilica St. Patrick’s Parish 83 Power Street, Toronto 11873 The Gore Rd., Brampton St. Patrick’s Parish St. Theresa’s Parish 131 McCaul Street, Toronto 2559 Kingston Rd., Scarborough Merciful Redeemer Parish The Martyr’s Shrine 2775 Erin Centre Blvd., 16163 Highway 12W, Midland Mississauga St. Anthony of Padua Parish 940 North Park Drive, Bramalea

In today’s scriptures, hope is proclaimed to
the exiled people longing to return to
Jerusalem, to the Philippians from the
imprisoned Paul, and to those caught in
political turmoil during Jesus’ lifetime. And
we hear voices all around us yearning for
hope. Pope Francis has called for this Year of
Mercy to be a time for hope. Our hearts are
open to new possibilities.
“In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was
tetrarch of Galilee…the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the desert.

Second Reading from Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11
