Please read the following detailed information before you declare goods in Erfurt.

1 Notification and slot bookingWereservetherighttoacceptdeliveriesasneededin Erfurt or at the outer warehouse or at warehouses operatedbythirdpartiesasorderedbyKNVZeitfracht(seeappendix1).Palletdeliveriesmustthereforebeannounced before delivery . I order to avoid delivery peaksandunnecessarywaitingtime,itisnecessarythattimewindowsforascheduleddeliveryarecoor-dinatedwithourreceivingdepartment.Deliveries that were not announced or that arrive latearegiventhenextpossibletimewindowforoffloading . We also reserve the right to forward deli-veries that were not announced to our outer ware-house at the cost of the sender .Notification/slot booking should take place as soon as possible but must take place at least 24 hours before the supplier makes the delivery. Booking early is advantageous. Theplaceofunloadingisalways disclosed in conjunction with the slot booking.Oneslotnumberisrequiredpertruck. 2 Delivery

2.1 Delivery address for goodsPleasenotethedifferentbuildingnumbersfordeliveringpalletisedgoodsorsmallamountsinpackagesviaparcelservices.

a) Palletised goods:It is obligatory to adhere to the following addressing systemforalldeliveries.Youwillfindthespecificaddress details for the delivery in question in Appendix1.

2.2 Delivery times for palletised goodsIncominggoodsareonlyacceptedMondaytoFridayfrom6a.m.–4p.m.Alatedeliverycanbemadeafter4p.m.byarrangement.The delivery times for external warehouses are given in Appendix 1.

Validfrom01October2019fordeliveriesatKNVZeitfrachtinErfurtandthe

outerwarehousesorrespectivelyatwarehousesoperatedbythirdpartiesasorderedbyKNVZeitfracht.

2.3 Delivery vehiclesTheunloadingatKNVZeitfrachttakesplaceonlyonrampswithdocklevelers.Accordingly,vehiclesthataresuitablefortherampmustbeusedforthedeli-very:• Highloadingsurface:atleast120cm• Width(clearwidth)oftheloadingsurface:

atleast220cm

Jumbotrucks/megatrailers,utilityvans/minivansandminitrucksgenerallydonotfulfilltherequire-mentsforunloadingusingtheramp!Such vehicles can be unloaded only if written confir-mationhasbeenreceived.Afeeof150€willthenbecharged for each vehicle .

Inthedeclaration,pleaseindicateexpresslyifavehicleisbeingusedthatisnotsuitableforramps.

2.4 Loading trucksIngeneral,forgoodsthataredeliveredonEuroPoolPallets,onlytheunloadattherampfromthebackvehicleareawithelectricallifttrucksispossible.Thepalletsmaythereforenotbeloadedcrosswise.Asideunloadisnotpossible.• ThegoodsdestinedforKNVZeitfrachtmustbe

freelyaccessibleandmaynotbeblockedthroughthirdpartygoods.Incaseofbiggerunloadobsta-cles,youmustcountonrefusalofacceptance.

• Acontactsurfaceof10-15cmmustbeavailableforadockleveler.Additionally,aremainingheightofatleast10cmisrequiredsothatthepalletscan be lifted .

3 Delivery and packaging

3.1 General delivery requirements

Requirements for the items•EachitemshouldhaveanEAN/ISBNbarcodesuitedforscanningoranitemnumber.Thebarcodemustbeunambiguousperproductandmustbelistedinnumericalcharactersunderthebarcode.Eachitemmustbeidentifiablethroughtherespec-tiveitemdescriptionintheshippingdocuments.• Theindividualitemsmustbepackagedinaway

thatanyriskofinjurythroughtheitemoritspackagingisexcluded.

• Thedeliveryofhazardousgoodsisnotallowed,unlessawrittenauthorizationisgiven.

Special itemsCertainitemsrequirethecompliancewithspecialstandardsfortheirdelivery:• Thedeliveryofmulti-volumeworksandsets,

insofarastheyarepublishedtogetherandnotasasequence,mustoccurincombinedorclosedform(slipcase,shrink-wrapped,tied).Allcompo-nentsofthesetmustvisiblyformoneitemandbedeliveredinanover-boxing,whichonlyhasonebarcodeforthecompleteitem.

• Ifapackagedunitisdeliveredthatisintendedforsalesinitsover-boxing,thenthebarcodeoftheindividualitemmaynotbeontheover-boxing,butonthepackagedunit.

• Packagingunitsaretobelabeledvisiblyontheoutsideandinlegiblewritingwithitspublisher,EANshorttitleandthenumberofcopies.

• Packagedunitsmustalwayscontainthesamequantity of one title .

• Mediaitems(software,DVD,CDorthelikes)mustbeshrinkwrappedorsealedindividually.

• Articlesliketoysandplaythingsmustbeprotectedagainstsoiling(forexample,byusingappropriatepackaging,deliveryinplasticbags,etc.).

Large-format displays or advertising materialsWhenlarge-formatdisplaysoradvertisingmaterialsaredelivered,eachmustbeindividuallystoreable,transportableandreadyforshipment.Thatmeansthateverydisplayoradvertisingmaterialisprovidedwithaseparatecarrier(ownpallet).Thecarriermustbeconnectedwiththedisplayoradvertisingmaterialandformasingleentity.Displaysoradvertisingmaterialstogetherwithcarriersaretobedeliveredoneuropallets.Inthecaseofambiguities,thedeli-veryofthegoodsshouldbeagreeduponinadvancewithKNVZeitfracht.

General shipping insurance & packaging materialInordertoguaranteeasafeandsmoothprocessingofthedeliveredgoods,thefollowinggeneralrequire-mentsmustbefollowed:• Thegoodsmustbepackagedsafelyfortransport,

protectedagainstdamage.Forfragileitemsinparticular,respectivepackagingmustensureundamageddeliveryandsecurehandlinginthewarehouse .

• Boxes/packets/palletcontainersmaynotbewarpedinanydirection.

• Hollowspacesintransportpackagingmustbefilled.Asfillingmaterial,rolleduppaper,aircushionsand/orbubblewraparetobeused.Styrofoam,popcornchips,biopack,shreddedpaperorthelikesmaynotbeusedunderanycircumstance.Thefillingmaterialmustbeeco-friendly recyclable .

• Stretchfoilsmayonlybemadeoftransparentpolyethylene(PE).

• Boxesmustberecyclable(print„RESY”orsimilar).

• Valuablearticlesthatareatriskfortheftshouldbedeliveredinadiscreteouterpackaging.

Shipments and packages• Allpackages/palletsofashipmentmustbesent

withthesametransporttype.• Allcopiesofaniteminoneshipmentaretobe

concentratedinonepackageifpossible.• Packagesthatbelongtogethermustbenumbered

so that they can be recognised as such

3.2 Delivery on pallets PalletizationWheneveritispossible,goodsaretobepalletized:• Allcopiesofanitemperpalletaretobebundled

inlayersorblocksandtobestapled.Anyincom-pleteboxesaretobepositionedinthetoplayerandaretobelabeledwiththewords„Packageincomplete/containsremainingarticles”.

• Thebooksaretobeprotectedonthebottomsideofthepalletaswellasonthetopsidewithgraycardboard inserts .

• Thelayersaretobestackedinaoffsetcombinedposition.Oneachlayer,thesamenumberofcopiesmustbestacked.Thelayersmustbesecuredagainstanyslippagewithinsertedcarboardsheets(3to5piecesperpallet).

• Onaslimoutersideofeachpallet,thepublisher,thetitlenumber,theshorttitle,theeditionandaquantitymustbevisiblyindicated.

• Duetotheuseofautomaticwarehouseandconveyingsystems,thestabilityofthepalletpackagesmustbeensured,evenwithoutanysecuringwithhoopingandcovers.Ifneeded,astablecontainerboxistobepreferredoverthewrappingwithshrinkwrap.

Pallet measurementsThecompliancewiththefollowingrequirementsisnecessary:• Themaximumpalletheightauthorizedfordeli-

very(goodsandpalletamountsto1,200mm.• Amaximumpalletoverallweight(goodsand

pallet)of1,000kgmaynotbeexceeded.• Palletsmaynotbeoverloadedatanyplaceand

maynotprotrudeinanyplace.Fromthebookblocktothepallet’souteredges,aminimumdistanceof3cmmustbefollowed.(Exceptionpalletcontainer).

Used pallets, pallet quality and pallet exchangeWereceiveandexchangethefollowingpallets:• ThedeliverymayonlyoccuronEuroPallets.• EPALorUICcertificationsareaccepted.• Thepalletmeasurementsmustamountto

1,200mm(length)x800mm(width).• ThepalletsmustmeetClassBaccordingtothe

standardUIC435-2/GS1.• Inthepalletexchange,palletswithcorrespon-

dingqualityarereturned.Iftherespectivenumberofemptypalletsisnotinstock,thereturnshalloccurinanappropriatetimeframeandbalancingshalloccurthroughapalletaccount .

• Europalletsthatarenotreadyforuse(brittle,missingcomponents,breakage,visiblenails,dirtthatcouldbemovedontoloadedgoodsetc.)cannotbeexchanged.

Pallet safetyPalletgoodsmustbesecuredagainstslippageorfalling:Thegoodsmustbefixedwiththeloadelement(pallet),sothattheycannotslip.The safeguard should be carried out with a stable lid (fullwoodorstablecorrugatescard-board,noplastic),shrinkwrap,edgeprotectionforthesidesandhooping.• Iftheboxsizeisthesameasthepallet(pallet

boxes/palletcontainers)hoopingmadeofplastic(hoopingband)aretobeused,afoilwrappingisnot necessary in that case .

• Metalbandsarenotadmissibleforthehooping.• Othertypesoftransportsecuringrequire

previouscoordinationandagreement.

Stacking of palletsThestackingofpalletsisdesiredifthefollowingcriteriaarefollowed:• Thelowerpalletmustbepackagedinawaythat

securestackingispossible.• Damagetothegoodsmustbeexcluded.Theuse

of a wooden cover is advised .

3.3 Delivery on mixed pallets•Thedeliveryofmixedpalletsisonlyintendedforthedeliveryofsmallquantities.Largeramountaregenerallytobepackagedasafree-of-titlepallet.• Inthecaseofmixedpallets,apalletcontentslist

withquantitiesandEAN/titlenumbersistobefixedatthefrontofthepalletsinadditiontothedelivery note .

• Differenttitlesmustbestackedonapallet,clearlyseparateandcombined.Onetitlemaynotbedistributedthroughseveralmixedpallets.

• Everypackagingmustbevisiblylabeledontheoutsidewiththepublisher,theEAN,theshorttitle and the quantity .

3.4 Delivery as package• Individualpackagesmaynotexceedatotal

weightof18kgandmustbestackedonapallet.• Packagesmaynotbewarpedinanyplace.• Maximummeasurementsofpackagesshouldno

exceed600x400x300mm(lengthxwidthxheight),withtheexceptionofbulk.

4 Address label and shipping documents

4.1 Address labelEverydeliveredpackageandeverypalletmusthaveanaddresslabel.Informationmustcontain:• Sender(Completeaddress)• Recipient(usingtheaddressinginstructionslisted

inthisinstruction)• Packagenumber• NVE(numberofshippingunit)andSSCC-barcode

• The delivery note is to be indicated by the freight forwarderupondeliveryatreceiving.

5 Freight costsThedeliverymustbecarriedoutaccordingtotheagreementwiththepublisher/clientandfree-of-chargeforKNVZeitfracht.

6 CustomsAllshipmentsfromabroadmustbeclearedthoughcustomsbeforedelivery.Customsclearancemayoccurwithoneofourcustomsagentswhenitiscoordinatedpriortodelivery.

7 Control of shipments in receivingThedeliveredshipmentsareacceptedwithreserva-tions . Ordered and delivered goods are only checked superficiallyfordamageandappropriatedeliveryattheramp.Outerdamageoftheshipmentsmustbeconfirmedbythefreightforwarderonthebilloflading.Otherwise,onlythenumberofthedeliveredpackages(packets,palletsetc.)isconfirmedtothedriver . The quantity and title control shall occur later with the delivery note .
