This is my immense privilege & pleasure to announce that K.M.Shah Dental

College, pioneer self financed Dental institute of Gujarat is moving another step

ahead by beginning its own quarterly News letter “DENTAL APOGEE”.

Our institute has Post graduate qualified faculty members & over 600 UG & PG

students. Our Dental hospital provides the most advanced treatment modalities sup-

ported by latest technology like Implants, Lasers, Digital radiography, Surgical & Re-

search microscope, Ceramics, Indirect composite system etc.

The current issue gives a brief introduction to the constituent departments. In

the forthcoming issues, we intend to highlight our advanced treatment modalities. I

am sure that this will be an ideal platform for our faculty & students to share their ex-

pertise, innovative ideas, skills & views.

The department provides the following kinds of treatments at very nominal

charges under local & general anesthesia:

Normal extraction of teeth, Surgical removal of impacted teeth, cysts & tumors

of the maxillofacial region, pre-prosthetic surgeries, dental implants etc.

Surgical resection & reconstruction of the maxillofacial region for various disor-

ders, fractures of the orofacial region, rhinoplasty etc.

Other highlights of the department: Dedicated operation theatre & oral surgical

wards, a state of the art minor surgical OT with RVG facilities & specialized equip-

ments such as different implant systems, physio dispenser, surgical saws, electro-

cautery & latest instruments for all kinds of surgeries.

The department of oral & maxillofacial surgery takes pride in providing quality

maxillofacial care to almost 120-140 patients daily. It is a well known centre for

cleft lip & palate surgeries, temporomandibular joint problems, maxillofacial

trauma care, oral submucous fibrosis, orthognathic surgery & distraction osteo-

genesis treatment in the state of Gujarat.

The department deals with the nature, identification and management of

diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions. It has evolved into a vibrant

and dynamic unit, keeping abreast with changes in dentistry on an international

scale, committed to provide a comprehensive service.

The department is recognized to conduct M.D.S. & Ph.D. programs. The

department consists of OPD, PG clinic, Radiology & museum sections. The de-

partment is well equipped to offer Diagnosis & advanced treatment for Oral Pre-

cancer and Cancer, Oral Mucosal lesions, TMJ disorders, Oro-facial pain, Sali-

vary gland disorders etc. All types of Intraoral and Extraoral conventional as well

as Digital radiographs like RVG, OPG & Lateral Cephalogram. TMJ radiography,

specialized Radiographic Techniques like Sialography are performed in the de-

partment.

Additional facilities of advanced imaging modalities like CT, MRI and USG

are also available. The Department has undertaken an initiative to make sur-

rounding villages tobacco & arecanut free.

The department is staffed by specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial Pa-

thology and support staff members.

We review and interpret biopsy & cytology samples. We provide a

broad range of tissue diagnostic services including conventional histopa-

thologic interpretation, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and im-

munofluorescence analyses. Our goal is to provide timely, accurate and
