CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION MODULES HEALTH PROMOTION IN NURSING/ MIDWIFERY PRACTICE* DEPARTMENT OF NURSING & MIDWIFERY Module Overview Nurses are required to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion activities in practice, to promote health and illness prevention in an integrated way across the continuum of care. This module evaluates the theoretical underpinnings of health promotion in nursing/ midwifery. The application of the philosophies and principles of health promotion in nursing/ midwifery practice is emphasised. *This module can be taken as a stand-alone module or as part of the MSc Nursing programmes offered by the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. Students can take up to two modules without enrolling on a full programme of study and programme enrolment occurs each Aug/Sept. Module Overview

Nurses are required to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion activities in practice, to promote health and illness prevention in an integrated way across the continuum of care. This module evaluates the theoretical underpinnings of health promotion in nursing/midwifery. The application of the philosophies and principles of health promotion in nursing/midwifery practice is emphasised.
