Designed with a nod to historical detail this sink area is
functional, durable and beautiful. By artfully joining
separate components, a console sink is created, bringing
timeless pieces from the past into a
vibrant present.
Pieces of the past
Clean-up isn’t glamorous, but the work area can be.
Whether your client desires sleek and stainless or
country charm, this can be an inviting space that
reflects their style. Choose a standard sink cabinet or
dare to be different with a bottom functional drawer or
apron cabinet. Enhance these choices with wide stiles
or clipped corners; add drama to these stile options
with fluting or split post assemblies. Utilize Medallion’s
extensive modification options and accessories to
showcase your creativity. Or wow your client by
designing a console sink area from our component
system...mix and match pieces to create a focal point.
Medallion makes it easy to bring beauty to an
understated area.

8 Design Guide
IslandsAdding an island to your client’s kitchen design can serve
many purposes. If your customer has a formal dining
room, they may enjoy the feature of additional seating at
the island for casual meals. Seating at an island may also
be a space saver in a smaller scale home. In today’s open
floor plans, islands can define a space by separating the
kitchen from adjoining rooms. Islands can be composed
from standard base or wall cabinetry, component pieces,
turned legs, valances or other
component pieces. Cap off your
island design with one of Medallion’s island ends or for
smaller areas consider a fully assembled
butcher block island or cart. Use Medallion
product in unique ways to create the island
of your customer’s dreams.

Highlight your cooking area
santiagomaple,quartersawn oakcayenne vintage,hazelnut
Cooking zones are an integral part of the kitchen. The
main ingredients are the cooking unit of choice, plenty
of storage space and a ventilation system. Choose
appliances that fit the needs of your client and then
build cabinetry choices around them. Consider the
manner of cooking and make sure the storage areas have
ample space for necessary equipment and supplies. Top
off the area with a beautiful wood hood to house the
ventilation system. Make a statement of style with one of
Medallion’s one-piece hoods or create your own with our
component system.

Some old world kitchens may still offer a place for open fire cooking
but that’s not a practical option for most American homes. The stove
and its decorative hood have now become the new hearth of the
modern home. To achieve this look, a combination of component
pieces in contrasting colors were utilized.
The cook-top/warming drawer unit complements the hood and has
been bumped out to highlight the continuation of the focal area.

Designer rooms shown in magazines and on television frequently display
exquisite antique furniture pieces as complementary items throughout the
house, even in the kitchen. If you can’t find the perfect antique to fit your
client's kitchen, or are uneasy about placing such treasures in a cooking area, the
same look can be created using highly functional built-ins. The artful
combination of standard modifications and furniture
detailing can transform cabinetry
into heirloom-quality
furniture that will both be
used and treasured.

create exquisite furnitureFurniture piecesA trend in today’s kitchen design is to model
storage space after free-standing furniture
pieces that complement the modern, open
floor plans that people appreciate today. A
straightforward way to do this is to blend
cabinetry and decorative elements together.
Turned legs or feet, corbels and carved onlays
are just a few of the many ornamental accents
that can help create furniture pieces. With
modifications such as decorative glass deluxe
ends, wainscot backing and valances the
design options are endless with Medallion.
