Opening Hymn – LSB 463
“Christ the Lord Is Risen Today; Alleluia”
1. Christ the Lord is ris’n today; Alleluia!
Christians, hasten on your way; Alleluia!
Offer praise with love replete, Alleluia!
At the paschal victim’s feet, Alleluia!
2. For the sheep the Lamb has bled, alleluia!
Sinless in the sinner’s stead. Alleluia!
Christ the Lord is ris’n on high; Alleluia!
Now He lives, no more to die, Alleluia!
3. Hail, the victim undefiled, Alleluia!
God and sinners reconciled, Alleluia!
When contending death and life, Alleluia!
Met in strange and awesome strife. Alleluia!
4. Christians, on this holy day, Alleluia!
All your grateful homage pay; Alleluia!
Christ the Lord is ris’n on high; Alleluia!
Now He lives, no more to die. Alleluia!
CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION
P: In the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
P: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
C: But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(Silence for reflection on God’s Word and for self-examination)
P: Let us then confess our sins to God our Father.
C: Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have
sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by
what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have
not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal
punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us,
renew us, and lead us so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways
to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.
P: Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake
forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His
authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of
the † Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
KYRIE
P: In peace let us pray to the Lord.
C: Lord, have mercy.
P: For the peace from above and for our salvation, let us pray to the Lord.
C: Lord, have mercy.
P: For the peace of the whole world, for the well-being of the Church of God, and for
the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord.
C: Lord, have mercy.
P: For this holy house and for all who offer here their worship and praise let us
pray to the Lord.
C: Lord, Have Mercy.
P: Help, save, comfort, and defend us, gracious Lord.
C: Amen.

the Holy Spirit to unite disciples of all nations in the cross and resurrection of Your

earth; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and
the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever.
C: Amen.
FIRST READING
Philippians 1:18-23
But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false
motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will
continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the
Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. I
eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient
courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by
death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body,
this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn
between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far.
Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
People: Thanks be to God.
SECOND READING
Hebrews 2:6-10
But there is a place where someone has testified:
“What is mankind that you are mindful of them,
a son of man that you care for him?
You made them a little lower than the angels;
you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet.”
In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at
present we do not see everything subject to them. But we do see Jesus, who was made
lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he
suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. In
bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and
through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect
through what he suffered.
Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
People: Thanks be to God.
ALLELUIA VERSE
Alleluia. Lord, to whom shall we go?
You have the words
of eternal life.
Alleluia, alleluia.
HOLY GOSPEL
Pastor: The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke, the
twenty-third chapter.
People: Glory to You, O Lord.
Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. When they
came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—
one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not
know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. The
people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved
others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.” The soldiers also
came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar and said, “If you are the
king of the Jews, save yourself.” There was a written notice above him, which
read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults
at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal
rebuked him.
“Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are
punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done
nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your
kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in
paradise.” It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three
in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn
in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my
spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.
Pastor: This is the Gospel of the Lord.
People: Praise to You, O Christ.
NICENE CREED – SUNDAY SERVICES
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and of all
things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of
God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God
of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom
all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from
heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried.
And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into
heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And he will come again with glory
to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end. And I
believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father
and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified,
who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic
Church, I acknowledge on Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the
resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
THE APOSTLES CREED - SATURDAY AND MONDAY SERVICES
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus
Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the
virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He
ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From
thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the
resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
SERMON HYMN – LSB 575
“My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less”
1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
No merit of my own I claim
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In ev’ry high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
3. His oath, His covenant and blood
Support me in the raging flood;
When ev’ry earthly prop gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Redeemed to stand before His throne!
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

DISTRIBUTION HYMN – LSB 627
“Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me”
1. Jesus, Savior, pilot me
Over life’s tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll,
Hiding rock and treach’rous shoal.
Chart and compass come from Thee,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
2. As a mother stills her child,
Thou canst hush the ocean wild;
Boist’rous waves obey Thy will
When Thou say’st to them, “Be still!”
Wondrous Sovreign of the sea,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
3. When at last I near the shore
And the fearful breakers roar
Twixt me and the peaceful rest,
Then, while leaning on Thy breast,
May I hear Thee say to me,
“Fear not, I will pilot thee.”

Glory, glory, Glory to the King of kings!
Recently, I was offered the 8th grade teacher and technology position at St. John, Fraser.
Through much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to accept the position at St. John. My
time and ministry at St. Peter has been a blessing. I have been honored to serve the Lord with
amazing teachers and staff. Most of all, God has graced me with families and students that I
will remember as friends in Christ our Savior. In Him, Mr. Phil Wargo
