This European Standard was approved by CEN on 1997-12-21.

CEN members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulationswhich stipulate the conditions for giving this European Standard the status of anational standard without any alteration.

Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national stand-ards may be obtained on application to the Central Secretariat or to any CENmember.

The European Standards exist in three off icial versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made by translat ion under the responsibili ty of aCEN member into its own language and notified to the Central Secretariat has thesame status as the official versions.

    Foreword

This European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee ECISS/TC 11 “Structural steel sections”,the secretariat of which is held by BSI.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identicaltext or by endorsement, and conflicting national standards withdrawn, by February 1999 at the latest.

The discussions within ECISS/TC 11 were based on EURONORMs 56 and 57 and ISO 657-1 and ISO 657-2.

According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulat ions, the national standards organisations of the fol lowingcountries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Fin-land, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain,Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

    1 Scope

This Part of this European Standard specifies requirements for the nominal dimensions of hot-rolled equal andunequal leg angles. This European Standard does not apply to angles with square roots, nor to equal andunequal leg angles rolled from stainless steel. Tolerances for equal and unequal leg angles are given inEN 10056-2.

    2 Normative references

This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference provisions from other publications. Thesenormative references are cited at the appropriate places in the text, and the publications are listed hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to thisEuropean Standard only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision. For undated references, the latestedition of the publication referred to applies.
