First Communion - This Sunday
afternoon we will be celebrating
with our youth who will be
receiving their First Holy
Communion. I know their parents
and teachers have done a great job
preparing them for this incredible
Sacrament. Let us all pray for them
that they may always know how blessed we are to
be able to receive our Lord in the Blessed Sacra-
ment. Because we are still social distancing, this
Mass will be live streamed on our Facebook Page.
Seminarian for the Summer - I am excited to have
Deacon Scott Miller here at St. Mary’s for the
summer as he continues to prepare for the priest-
hood. While I know things are not as busy during
the Summer months, I still find it is a great way for
them to get to know a different parish and also for
us to get to know him. As a deacon, he will be able
to assist in a variety of aspects of parish ministry.
Hopefully many of you will be able to get to know
him while he is here.
Prayer for Peace - There are so many emotions
that continue to be stirred up within my heart and
soul over these past few weeks and I am sure I am
not alone. Humanity is deeply wounded and only
the Divine Physician will be able to heal our Nation.
There is no easy answer, but instead each one of us
must look within our own lives and see where we
have caused hurt to another and seek to be
reconciled. Let us all continue to pray for a greater
awareness of Christ’s presence in our lives and
work towards peaceful resolutions to the injustices
of our day. St. Francis and St. Catherine of Siena
were two great peacemakers of their time. May we
seek their intercession to be more conduits of
Christ’s peace in our world.

St. Mary Church is again taking part in a stewardship project during the month of June for the Perpetual Adoration Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament who reside at Mater Ecclesiae Monastery on the grounds of our Cathedral. Due to the current health concerns, we will collect monetary donations or gift cards to Hy-Vee, Walmart, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or gas rather than grocery and personal items. Checks should be written payable to St. Mary Church with “Cathedral Sisters” written in the memo. These can placed in the collection basket (preferably in an envelope marked Cathedral Sisters) or mailed to the church. Envelopes will be provided near the offering basket. We will publish a report at the end of June with the total amount collected. Thank you for your generosity!

Men's Bible Study has resumed via webinar, every Tuesday at Noon. The focus is on the Scripture for next weekend's Masses. For the log-in address, e-mail [email protected]. St Vincent de Paul: As we celebrate the mystery of the Trinity we also realize the mystery of how much God loves and cares for us each day. Believing in this our lives can then overflow in thanksgiving and praise. Your gift in the St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box will help the poor to believe in the mystery of God’s love for them. .”
