Accessible information

What do we mean by accessible information?

• Information is not data alone • Information is not a web address or a

1300 number answered by a machine • Information starts with respectful

listening • Information sometimes needs navigation • Information needs interpreting • Information needs distribution • Information is beautiful

IDEAS maintains 5,000 disability specialist records that support the mainstream community records maintained by Local Councils. In total the database gives online and potential hard copy access to over 45,000 records. A project piloted in 3 local government areas to support access to information about inclusive communities. This project is currently undergoing redevelopment for further roll out across NSW

Interactive workshop style training that raises disability awareness and understanding

The power of a smile – the universal welcome

For every bit of information Can I open it?

Can I read it?

Can I find the information I need?

Can I understand it?

Is the event accessible for me and my tribe?

How do I get the information?
