The Theatre Royal accepts bookings in person, by phone or online. All ticket prices include €1 transaction fee as laid down by Theatre Royal. WIT students are entitled to a special WIT price on most shows on presentation of their card.
The Theatre Royal is an accessible venue with ramp access, loop induction, wheelchair seats and adapted toilets. We would ask wheelchair users to book directly with the box office rather than online to ensure that we accommodate you appropriately. Latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance.

A SPECIAL night of music, song, comedy and theatre in memory of the late WLRfm broadcaster Billy McCarthy. ‘A Night for Billy’ will be a “not to be missed” event featuring some of Waterford’s top performers on stage together for one night only to celebrate Billy’s memory and also raise funds for deserving local charity, the Holy Ghost Residential Home.
Moya has developed an individuality which has already shown itself in her expanding body of work. When an artist’s career can often be measured in months, hers spans decades. The power of her whispered tones and the beauty of her music touch the soul. Gently, yet persistently, her songs and her music are redefining Irish music. With her band Clannad they took the Irish language and its melodies to places that it had never been before.

Last summer, writer John MacKenna began work on a requiem for theatre, in memory of young friends and in honour of those who mourn them. This requiem was inspired, in particular, by Leonard Cohen’s hope-filled lines. In late October 2016, just two weeks before his death, Leonard approved the final draft of Between Your Love and Mine.

THE KATE BUSH SONGBOOK
This summer the Theatre Royal produces two short masterpieces by one of Ireland’s greatest writers, Samuel Beckett. Enjoy an early bird meal or after theatre dinner in one of the many fine eateries and experience a taste of Beckett (45mins).
Footfalls, performed by Waterford actress Carrie Crowley, is a moving and poetic distillation of the relationship of a mother and daughter evoked by two voices as a figure paces back and forth on a darkened stage.
Krapp’s Last Tape, performed by Irish actor and writer Arthur Riordan, is a moving and beautiful evocation of human failure and despair and is Beckett’s great study in loneliness and isolation. A man sits in what passes as a study, his only company an old reel to reel tape recorder where he listens to recordings of his younger self and prepares to record what may well be his last tape.The plays will be directed by Ben Barnes, Artistic Director of the Theatre Royal.

This musical revolves around the lives of the residents of Washington Heights, a predominantly Dominican-American neighbourhood in New York City. Their lives along with their struggles, hardships and triumphs are interwoven to form an elaborate and elegant tapestry of the neighbourhood.
Following a Sell-Out run at the Fringe 2010, a UK Tour in 2011 and the Christmas season at the Sydney Opera House, Hairy Maclary and his friends are springing off the page once again this summer. Dundalk Classical Tenor David Martin is focussing on a solo career.
