contaminated with bacteria.

• It occurs in areas where the infrastructure is bad (dirty water supply).

• If cholera patients are treated quickly and properly, the mortality rate is less than 1%; however, with untreated cholera the mortality rate rises to 50–60%

• 90% of malaira deaths are in Africa.

• No vaccine exists that will prevent malaria.
