In simple numerical terms, we have grown In Size of membership and in our treasury. We will seek further growth in faith and family. our community presence and in our lives in the church and in our country. Aligning our council goals with the Supreme Council would be consistent with this year's motto "Faith In Action". I learned in medical school "See one, do one, teach one". We all start as novices and garner experience over time through education and practice. For those who believe. the Catholic faith is relatively simple. For those who do not believe. it's extremely complex. We all share this common faith, but we need to be armed, as Knights. to be able to articulate and defend our faith should we encounter (as we most likely will) others who may not share or may disparage that faith. We may find it helpful for some collegial discussions of the Catholic tenants at our monthly Council meetings in order to bolster our own faith. and be more prepared to express it to others if by chance the opportunity arises. By strengthening ourselves individually we will be in a better position to be a positive influence for our families. Not by command but by leading by example-by serving. Our faith families (i.e. relatives and Catholic friends) show how by the combined efforts of a group of committed, united individuals, we can support ourselves while dynamically improving our local Catholic grade schools and our Catholic community.

Last year we demonstrated with two very successful fundraisers, breakfasts. and other measures how our council literally served our Catholic community, with our local Catholic Grade schools being directly rewarded by our efforts. We financed several wheel chairs for needy people outside of our local community and helped fund a water well halfway around the world. Replicating these successes will again be possible but only through our individual commitments as Knights of Columbus. We can do it, but we realize these results will be even easier to obtain with more fellow Knights assisting. Therefore, we need in a sense to become "fishers of men". We need to identify and invite more faithful Catholic men in good standing with the Church to enjoy the benefits of our Catholic fraternity. As we grow in number. the tasks we set before ourselves will become even easier to achieve. We open our Columbian year with a similar anticipation and excitement as Christopher Columbus himself did on August 3, 1492 when he set sail for the New World. Let's see what we can discover.

• Forbidden fruits create many jams. God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

• God loves everyone, but probably prefers 'fruits of the spirit' over 'religious nuts!'
• God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
• He who angers you, controls you!
