WELCOME TO DIVINE MERCY CATHOLIC CHURCH

~ 1 Jn 3:23~ 1 Jn 3:23~ 1 Jn 3:23~ 1 Jn 3:23
O ur reading from 1Samuel 1:20-28 is a figure of what would come to pass in the incarnation of Jesus in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the verses just before the one
we hear today we are told that Hannah was unable to bear children. She went to the temple and made a heartfelt prayer to the Lord that if he would see fit to give her a son that she would give him to the Lord all the days of his life. Her prayer was long and Eli, a priest of the temple took notice of her thinking her perhaps to be drunk. After speaking to her and discovering her plight he answered her, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have made to him.” Blessed is she who believed in what she was told by the priest. Hannah went away and eventually bore a son even though before she had

Mary would present her Son to the Lord in the temple in the fullness of time as well and the Magnificat of the Blessed Virgin Mary would eventually take its inspiration from the praise-filled song of Hannah.
Samuel would be raised in the temple and grow up to begin the monarchical period of Israel. Jesus in His turn will usher in the New Covenant in His Blood and be the Lord of lords and King of kings forever.
Jesus will be presented in the temple, while being the Temple. He would go on to declare during the cleansing of the temple, destroy this Temple and I will raise it up in three days.
T hese are the deep things that Mary and Joseph experienced in their life with Jesus and that Mary kept and pondered in her heart. This is what John speaks of in the second reading today. That through faith in the name of Jesus we are made children of God by the gift of the Father. When we are brought into the Body of Christ
through the sacrament of Baptism we then dwell in His temple and the way to remain in His temple for all days is to keep His commandments and do what pleases Him. And His commandment is this: we should believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another just as He commanded us.
The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph is the example for the teaching of the virtues for all of us. Let us ask Jesus, Mary and Joseph to invite us to enter into the intimacy of their relationship with one another, that we may learn how to live as they did so, we too, can always dwell within the temple of the Lord because:
Blessed are they who dwell in your house O Lord!Blessed are they who dwell in your house O Lord!Blessed are they who dwell in your house O Lord!Blessed are they who dwell in your house O Lord!
been barren and as we hear today she offered him by a Nazirite vow to be permanently and exclusively dedicated for service to the Lord in the temple from a very young age. After her offering her son to the Lord she praised God for His divine intervention in her behalf.
